What is this?
"This is Not a Book" is a book by an author called Keri Smith (creator of Wreck This Journal). You can buy it at any book store, Target or Walmart of online. It is basically an activity book that gives you a different prompt on every page. The whole concept is that you are creating something that is different from a book. Each page is something different that the "book" is.
The directions do not say that you must follow the directions on every page. The introduction specifies that if you don't like a page you can remove it or cover it up, unlike "wreck this Journal."

I remember how when I first bought this book, on the page that told you to give the book some sort of disguise, I decided to just grab a sharpie and I crossed out the word "not" on the cover.
I love looking through these kinds of journals! I just wish I was creative enough to do one. Mine would look like a 2 year old did it.
You know, thing is, these people probably thought the same. They just did it because it was fun for them, not because they wanted to show everyone how creative they are. Just do it for fun, u myt hate it now, but u will love it later in life going through it after years n seeing how fun u had and all thr differe t things u did in it. U dont have to be creative. U just have to enjoy
It's okay. But at the end of the days it's YOURS and you should give it a try 😄❤
I thought the same way at first!, now I make my own!,I is so relaxing!!.just start do anything you want with it, give it a try, you'll come up with awesome ideas!!!!!!.

So fun! There are too many fun details to mention, but two things that stuck out to me were the tiny 3D paper boats and the treasure chest =)

hi there you did a really good job im gonna use some of your ideas on my wreck this journal (we all need to stall time somehow now since the entire world is on lockdown my fav page you created was this is a laboratory (to me it looked more like a library) lol i was actually looking for ideas for the wreck this journal but for guys, but their just following the prompts i like to draw things so i can pass the time better so im gonna copy that as well as the file cabinets and the tall skyscraper buildings that was awesome. btw your car and house page almost looks like mine im almost done with it just needed ideas thank you !!

May I just ask,
I did wreck this journal a bit ago. I haven’t finished it yet as I don’t want to actually destroy it and have no idea how to do the remaining pages without ruining it and honestly I’ve lost a bit of inspiration for it. Would you say this book is better? I didn’t know it existed until two days ago and then because it’s a lot cheaper than wreck this journal, I ordered it.
Also do you have any tips for keep being inspired to do it?

I like both Wreck this Journal and This is not a Book for separate reasons (I have an entire video comparing all of my art journals if you're interested!). Inspiration definitely comes and goes, but I like to get inspo from watching other people's renditions on their art journals:)

How do you draw so well on the other pages when there’s so much stuff glued in? I want to glue thins in but I’m afraid it will make it difficult for writing/ drawing
I often draw on separate pieces of paper and then just glue them in after!

I just got create this book 2 and it says not to use watercolor because of the thin pages does yours have thick water color pages?
For the most part I just did the watercolor on a separate paper then glued it in!
