- Black male voters are in the hot seat. U.S. news media paint a narrative of a wave of Black men moving toward the Republican Party and supporting Donald Trump. Black men are heavily coveted voters and heavily scrutinized voters. And the truth is, the U.S.’ election system has placed them in this position - a position where some see the only way to exert their political power is to sit out the presidential election. Your local vote concerns matters relative to your particular community i.e, property tax, the DA, county sheriff, city policy chief, mayor, city council, property tax and local sales tax, as well as how this money will be spent. On the national level, you are voting for how our tax money will be distributed within, via the federal agencies, as well as policy on foreign trade, military alliances, immigration, and so forth. Republicans supports legislation that support big business and the monied class while Democrats will allow for a social safety net for the working class and the poor.

Hello. I'm the journalist who did this story. I looked at two states: Georgia and Michigan. I ended up choosing Michigan for a couple of reasons, one of which is because it's got an active case happening right now in regards to voters and it's part of the so-called "blue wall" that crumbled and gave Trump the win in 2016. I'm not a Trump supporter, but I will tell you what I do see. The Republicans have been listening to men. They stopped lifetime alimony in Florida. They started mandatory DNA tests after birth, and paternity fraud in Tennessee. Texas and Oklahoma are about to repeal no fault divorces. Men been talking, the left haven't been listening, but the Republicans are listening. We are not a monolith, and these online personalities convinced Brothas to get something for our votes.

The electoral college needs to be dismantled. Why should anyone bother to vote since 1) The winner is decided by only a few measly states, totally ignoring the results of the popular vote, 2) It seems the option this year is between someone who half the time doesn't even know where he is and someone without the required background to run this country FOR THE PEOPLE and 3) Since only the electoral college matters, should we vote independent or not at all? Seems to me the black votes in the south aren't even in the mix for representation, and I'm a white 71 year old female. If I can see the disparity, I can't even imagine how those closer to it must feel. How do we fix this?
Also, the Senate needs to be reformed or abolished and there needs to be reapportionment in the House of Representatives. The current system of representation is inherently racist because it heavily favors rural white conservatives.
Reapportionment and reforming/abolishing the Senate would be more democratic and representative of the actual political leanings of the population. It is unjustifiable and antidemocratic that Wyoming (population 700k) has the same number of senators as California (population 40 million).
The text book way of eliminating the EC is via a constitutional convention with the majority of states voting to ratify the motion....but you and I both know that isn't going to happen given the fact that The Right has gone full Fascist and is doing everything it can to permanently instill minority rule in their favor, but there is a work around via enough states implementing rank choice voting would effectively nullify the EC without technically dismantling it. Some states are working on making this happen as I type this.
Then you support mob rule democracy and only New York and California voters will control the whole country. We are a constitutional republic.
I wish Biden would eliminate it since the SCOTUS upended the Constitution.

It's basically a project to replace unelected civil servants who obstruct elected politicians from doing what they were elected to do and to allow each president to have a core of civil servants who are either ideologically aligned with him or not but willing to carry out the wishes of the voter regardless.

I remember election on election night 2020, one of the battleground states (I think it was Arizona), stop counting votes and said that they wouldn’t have any updates to the election numbers until Thursday, 2 days later. At that point, I felt like something was wrong with the election because that has never happened before. Why would a state just stop counting for 2 days?

As a Black Man, I have a duty to vote and participate in our democracy. I show up to vote in all local, state, and federal elections. My people fought and died for me to have this right, and I can not let them down by playing games with my vote or with the lives of my people. I will show up and vote for Joe Biden or whoever the Democratic candidate will be on the ballot. There is no way I would ever vote for a twice impeached, 34-time felon, racist currently using his party to roll back the rights of black Americans. Many Black Americans have no idea Trumps Supreme Court overturned affirmative action 2 years ago. A victory for the right. If we allow DT to win in November. His SC will overturn voting rights and civil rights by the end of 2025. I don't think Black Americans understand the dangers and long-term consequences of this vote in November. It's literally about our future as free Americans vs. rolling back time before the 1960s.
