This was very helpful! Can you illustrate inferences using the rotate tool? For example rotating a board from a point off it's end points to intersect with a plane with it's opposite point. Think of a sheet of plywood hinged to a base/platform with a hinge and you need to find it's far point intersection with a plane/ground. I can do this using math, but would rather use Sketchup tools. Typically I would draw a circle and the point at which that circle intersects with the horizontal line is the point I would rotate the sheet of plywood to. However, SketchUp circles are series of lines and not true circles.
@@robertpoirier8516 I think I understand your question, and totally agree with it. Rotating a face or object, and wanting to lock, or be able to exactly rotate it to where it meets another face. This type of inference doesn't exist, or, didn't until V. 2024. Now, in the latest version, If you are rotating an object or face toward another face, there is now an inference called 'From Radius, on Face'. It doesn't work with locking, and it can be a little tricky to find, but it's a start, because yes, otherwise there isn't a great way to do what you are describing. I think it can be improved on, and I would like to see some sort of locking built into rotate, but for now, give that a try. Hope that makes sense.
I hope sketchup 2024 devs are working on the bug where when inside a group/component, and in isolation mode, we are not able to snap to the axis 0,0,0 center and also not possible to edit group axis by right click and place. These functions only get possible when we off the isolation mode. This is very, very annoying.
👍 if you never thought of inferencing that way

Boy, you can learn something new everyday.
Great lesson Tyson. It would be cool to see your clicks and key presses while you're demonstrating, it would make it even eaiser to grasp.
Love these types of tutorials, a little confusing, but I am a beginner. But great learning opportunity, appreciate the model to practice with.
Great Tutorial thanks Tyson.
I really needed this refresher.
Thanks Tyson.
Learn something everyday. Thanks Tyson. And here I thought I knew everything there is to be known about inference locking. ❤
Excellent video Tyson, learnt some inferencing I didn't know about. Thanks
mind blown ! 🤯🤯awsome thanks for sharing!!

Really excellent tute
