You want an area with more witches because you want grief seeds, if they dont get enough to purify their soul gem... Spoiler They turn into a witch. Its a cycle, kyuby wants to turn girls into magical girl not to fight witches but to harvest energy and keep the cycle going
I prefer this kind of audio. But maybe if there are parts that don't need it, you can use the regular audio there and only change it for the copyrighted ones... idk how it works, you know better.
I posted this on the Patreon upload but JUST in case! I won’t say too much YET in regards to the girls’ powers and wishes BUT you were kind of on the right track as to how it works! For Sayaka, for instance, she wished to heal someone which in turn gave her the magical ability of super self-healing. Another example I can get into is Mami’s magic (ribbon magic). For Mami, she made her wish as a desperate attempt to cling to life after getting into a fatal car accident. So because she was hanging on to life “by a thread” by making this wish, her magic revolves around ribbons/rope/string. Every girl’s initial wish will influence the type of magical ability the girl’s gain. The weapons they wield aka Sayaka’s Cutlass/ Mami’s guns, Kyoko’s Spear, represent their character/personality/intentions. Just imagine that their magic (Mami’s ribbons) and weapon (Mami’s guns) have different symbolic meaning that I can explain more later. Last but not least, the power-scaling of the girls. THAT is something you will get more context on later so I’ll leave that blank for now. There is WAY MORE to explain about how magic and their wishes work but for now that’s all I can explain. I’ll be back next time when more details come to light in the show!
It's been confirmed elsewhere that guns weren't Mami's standard weapon. Instead, she got good enough at ribbon manipulation to turn her ribbons INTO guns. Also, Sayaka can heal others too.
@@davidphilpott2487When is it shown that Sayaka can heal others? That must be in side material I haven't seen. Some of the correlations between their wish and their magic powers seem pretty ad hoc and unimportant, to me. Like, really? Mami has ribbon magic because she was "hanging on by a thread"?
@@stephenpriest Yeah "hanging by a thread" is a POOR explanation because there's no such phrase in Japanese. Madoka Magica's setting is much deeper and complex than that. Their wish is not only related to their powers but also reflected in their personalities. In the official setting book, it says Mami's specializes in "the ability to connect/tie things together" not "yellow ribbon magic". Ribbon is just the form her magic takes. It could have been big-ass metal chains but she chose to materialize it as ribbon. In Japan, rope/ribbon/lines symbolizes a few things e.g. connection, life line, extension. It is better to view that she wished for the "extension" of her "life line". This wish takes the form of ribbon. When she died, the story that was held together, begins to fall apart. It's all symbolism. P.S. life line is a horizontal line on your palm which reflects your lifespan in palm reading. There are also love line, career line. During the car crash, everyone has died, Mami felt very alone and helpless. She wanted somebody to find her (connect with people) and wanted to live (extension of her life). This symbolism of "connection" is also reflected in her character, she always act as the social glue of the group tying everyone together. Despite her cheerful outlook, she is actually very fragile and lonely inside due to survivor guilt and PTSD from the car crash. You can tell she yearns for CONNECTION with people. Mami was too happy when Madoka said she will fight by her side and she failed to keep her head cool which ultimately lead to her death. She couldn't keep her calm and react appropriately when things go bad *wink wink*.
@@rabela1810 Thank you for your reply! This makes so much more sense and is delightfully meaningful; I always love learning new things about the concepts and symbolism in this show. It's so deep, and I see new things every time I watch it
The power is not related to the selflessness of the wish, it just has to do with how strong it is, and what it was, If you wish for money your power with be related to wealth somewhat, and if you REALLY REALLY wanted that wish that power would be way stronger. Thats why Kyubey said madoka had potential, she is so dedicated that whatever she wishes for will probably be from the bottom of her heart
This audio is so much better. Please keep it like this! Also, as others have already mentioned, I think the obvious implication of the 'wish relating to powers' thing is more simple than you're making it. Sayaka wished to heal someone, so Sayaka's healing is now exceptional. That's how it appeared to me at this stage, anyway.
My head-canon is that usually witches are trying to stay under the radar of the local magical girl, as much as they can, which is why they don't cause massive scenes and only take victims one by one. When Mami was killed, the TV witch somehow felt that, and believing that this was the only magical girl in the area, decided to cut loose and go all out, to make the most of the short period until a new protector turns up. Of course that's just speculation, but it'd match what we see on the screen. Alternatively this witch might just have been unusually gifted in mind control. Or maybe she was so easy to beat, because mind-controlling people takes up attention and/or magical power, so the more a witch controlls at the same time, the less she has left to fight with. Which could mean that rather than being unusually strong, this witch Sayaka killed was just really inexperienced or overconfident about not being found by a magical girl or somesuch and thus easy pickings when taken by a surprise attack.
24:46 This isn't explained in the show, and it's only revealed in one of the audio stories, but Mami was Kyoko's mentor, and the two of them used to be good friends. That's why Sayaka's comment here ticks her off so much.
Madoka Magica is to this day one of the most impessive pieces of work ever made. Everything is so close to perfection, the beautiful and at the same time sinister animation, the creative scenarios done by Shaft, an outstanding soundtrack, the impactful and almost flawless story and a pretty good direction makes this anime a classic. After the anime, you really should watch the movie of Madoka Magica, Rebellion, it's the best part of this anime until now. And there's also a 4th movie coming up next year, you should be pretty hyped about it.
Ehhhh...I'm a little worried about the new movie. Rebellion is an extremely tough act to follow and the idea of it dropping well over ten years after the initial anime and movie means they won't have all the same people or creative energy etc.... I dunno. There's room for another movie but I'm not optimistic. I hope to be pleasantly surprised.
@@bemusedbandersnatch2069 I have at least some hype towards this new movie since most of the staff is still active and are also working in this new project. We can't forget that the studio is also the same (Shaft) and the best of all, Gen Urobuchi is one of the main producers of this new movie, so I have a lot of hope from it. The trailer looks stunning, you can see pretty easily that they could mantain the aspect of Madoka Magica, even after 10 years.
@@Cohow XP Actually I think my biggest complaint so far is that the trailer doesn't have half the cool stuff they put into the concept movie trailer they made for April Fools Day awhile back. I reaaally loved the vibe of that. But then I'm a grumpy grump I guess.
@@bemusedbandersnatch2069 That's a good thing for me. It would be kinda messed up of they spoiled the movie in the trailer, in my opinion Madoka Magica should have trailers like how teasers are so it doesn't spoil any major plot twist of the story.
You make a very good point about how it might be good for Madoka to make a contract now (14:26). But I'm curious, once you've finished the show, what you would still think about your reasoning here. I should have warned you about this cliffhanger. I will mention, you really should watch episode 11 and 12 together once you get there, don't split it between weeks. They originally aired together anyway, they're really one episode. At 29:28, "do you have to patrol," etc. Answer: there is a reason they need to hunt. It will be explained in the next episode, but it has to do with finding grief seeds. Mami sort of already explained it; grief seeds aren't just a reward, they are important.
12:22 what kyubey meant was "yes, only I can make magical girl, but she (homura) didn't make the contract." Only kyubey can make this, no other creature or people 24:39 nope. Your power depends on the wish you made. Example: I wish for a cake = magic based on sweet and sugar, I wish to be a sport champion = my power is physical buff and so on. Making a selfish wish or not doesn't influence soooo much your power
Man, I don't mean this in a backhanded way at all, I'm being totally sincere - the fact that you tend to ask all the wrong questions makes me really hyped to see more of this reaction. Like I really cannot wait at all. You are not ready. You, good sir, are absolutely not ready.
>evil cliffhanger You're almost getting the OG experience! It was originally aired once a week, and there even was an additional delay before the final few episodes to let the animators polish them. Imagine the anxiety! Also, this audio is way better than cutting parts because sometimes YT would even mute your comments along with the original.
All magical girls get a weapon that suits the personality/fighting style of the user and an extra power. The power a magical girl gets is related/associated with what the wish grants you. If you wish to heal in general, regardless if it is to heal someone else or yourself, your power results in healing factor, either self regeneration or the ability to heal others. It also depends on the wording of the wish. Mami wished to save herself by wording it as "I want to connect to life" and it gave her the power of her ribbons. "Connecting" could mean many things, metaphorical and literal things, that's why Mami was so resourceful with her power regardless of its simplicity.
Without spoiling anything - The magical girls' power is kinda related indirectly to the wish they made during contract. Sayaka wished for healing of the boy's hand to play music again. Hence she had superior self-healing powers compared to others. There will be some music related stuff later if you have a keen eye. Mami wished for living on when she got caught in a car crash, so her life was "extended" in a way and her power is kinda related to "extension" in the form of yellow ribbons. Sure she uses guns and cannon in fights but if you look closely, she actually conjured those weapons out of yellow ribbons. Her magic is actually the yellow ribbons. The others are also have power related to their wishes, best exemplified by Homura when it gets to it. Power levels will be clearer later but for now: Mami is the strongest in combat, Sayaka is the weakest cause she is new. Madoka has the biggest potential and will be the strongest IF she choose to become a magical girl. Kyoko and Homura are in between but Homura > Kyoko, for now.
@@TheSlayer117 Yes, u'll learn more later in the series but they don't exactly spell out everything for you. Many misjudges Mami's power as guns instead of ribbons, and not many know how strong Mami was given that she died pretty easily.
@@rabela1810 Yeah but you still wrote a spoiler, minor or not, in the last paragraph. Why not wait until later episodes? Luke also said a couple of times before to not reply to his questions because he's showing us the questions he's asking himself/his thought process and isn't actually asking the audience.
What do you mean "there will be music related stuff later"? There is plenty of music related stuff right now and you don't need a keen eye at all to see it. Her hair-pin, the lines of sheet music that make up her magical circles, some stuff on her outfit. She's a combination of water and music all over from the very moment she becomes a magical girl. In regards to power levels I have only one advice: Forget them. Presumably Mami is "stronger" than Homura and yet Homura rofl-stomped the witch that killed Mami, without appearing to break a sweat, so what does power really mean? In any setting were people use their minds, power levels become more of a hindrance than a crutch in figuring out who would win in a particular matchup. I also find it absurd time and again how some Dragon Ball fans in particular constantly quote battle power as a fixed number, when the very arc that introduced the concept already had Vegeta crush his scouter when he realized how meaningless it's numbers really were. And that was later further confirmed when Krillin, who didn't even have a tenth a percent of Freeza's battle power, was still able to cut off his tail with a Kienzan (Destructo Disc), meaning he could have killed every single pre-perfect cell dragon ball villain, if only he had remembered he can do that. Blind them with a solar flare and then cut them to pieces with the kienzan and done.
@@TheSlayer117Which part? I thought I was careful, do let me know so I can edit it. I only wrote "for now", didn't mentioned Homura's power and Madoka = strongest if she sign the contract had already been implied, confirmed by Kyubei, Homura and Mami in earlier episodes. Not sure where you are lost bro
All I can really say is that the anime will only get even better from here on. I'd say that the next episode might be my 3rd favorite episode of Madoka Magica, and I'm really, really looking forward to your reaction to the rest of the anime. I have one piece of advice: Please tighten up your seat belt because you are in for a wild ride.
Imagine how painful it was watching this as it released. Every magical girl's starting "power" is proportional to the wish they ask to be granted will be. The bigger the wish the more powerful a magical girl will be. The wish will also determine the way the magical girl's powers manifest. As kyuubi stated a wish to heal others will increase your own healing so wishing for money might make a magical girl's power a type of glass cannon ability or wishing for fame will make you attract witches (these are theories not fact). You're not wrong in that this show extremely quickly teaches you to have trust issues lol
I have some ONE OK ROCK news that i think you're going to like. Taka was saying in an interview that the next album and the one after that are going to be totally f*cking rock, and no more f*cking pop music. Supposedly he found it a bit boring to perform songs from the Ambitions album she Eye of the Storm. To get an idea if what they're going to sound like watch a fan cam of Make it out Alive. Their next album is going to be awesome. A song you can see him having fun performing is "Juvenile" live at Yokohama arena. Hope to see a OOR reaction soon.
24:26 the wish a magical girl makes is what determines their powers. Sayaka wished for someone to be healed, so she has healing abilities. And while not said in the anime, Mami's wish to live was worded as "I want to connect to life" which is why her she had ribbons that tie up and "connect" things. I don't think it's always well thought out, but it definitely is an interesting idea and we will see it explored a little bit more as the show goes on
the passive healing sayaka has was not because of a selfless wish but because she used a wish to heal. so the type of "buffs" or powers are the same type as the wish you make when becoming a magical girl. i also do think that the more powerful the wish is, the more powerful the power becomes. so healing a hand gives a passive regeneration but if you'd wish for something like an entire city to be healed of something then you'd get much better healing abilities... correct me if i'm wrong though. been a while since i got into madoka magica xD
“I hate this” yes welcomeeeee 😂😂 Also yes this what they mean when your wish affects your powers in some way hehehe there’s no real rule for it as far as I know. And in regards to having to fight witches, so far mami has said that getting grief seeds will help purify your gem and replenish your magic. Now why that’s so important, we don’t know yet *I love kyoko lots, her design and weapon and all
From my understanding, the magical girl's wish affects what kind of power they have no matter what it is. It's kind of hard to explain without spoiling other characters lol. Haha episode 3 really affected how you're seeing the show. I can't say the same for everyone who watched this years ago when it was still airing as I remember there were still some people who didn't feel like things are that bad until a few more episodes later. This reaction video is fun as many of your questions do have answers which makes it exciting to see how you'd react to them later. Some of the questions however aren't answered in this series but instead on the spin-offs. There are games, manga, and the mobile game had an anime version Magia Record (this series have a ton more characters and more magical girls).
You have already met everyone that has or will become a magical girl in this show, although the Magia Record mobile game(which is set in a different city called Kamihama) and the several spin off manga feature the stories of other magical girls . By the way, Sayaka isn't the first newbie Magical Girl Kyoko has had to deal with as she pretty much adopted one of elementary school age in one of the spin off manga that I mentioned above
Your first cliffhanger! Some will be worse, so get ready, haha. Regarding the buff you mentioned when granting your wish. It's more of a side effect of what you wished for. For example; "I wish to become the best writer in the world." I could end up with the power to write people's actions in the real world, not just in fiction. It's a bit complicated, Sayaka's easier to understand. Forward and simple
I love how the beginning of this episode is supposed to make you more calm and hopeful for the future but you’re just like “and this is Katara my flying sister.” 😂
If you like the artistic direction of this show you should check out Bakemonogatari, it's by the same studio (SHAFT) and it's probably the most unique shows you'll watch though it does admittedly dip occasionally into some less favourable tropes of the genre.
I mentioned it on patreon as well, but you should consider adding an extra episode to next weekend. If you're watching two episodes at a time that means next week is 6 and 7, then 8 and 9, then 10 and 11, leaving 12 on it's own with a week between 11 and 12. If you add an extra episode to next week it will even it out so that you get 6, 7, and 8 together, 9 and 10, and then 11 and 12

To answer your question at the end - remember, they’re gem’s get cloudy and need to kill witches to clean their gems :) so you couldn’t just take the back seat and be chill / wait a long time in between killing witches :)
the "shift" that you're experiencing after episode 3 is the best part of madoka magica it's a bit of a shame that you don't have any prior experience with magical girl genre (unless i'm wrong, which case i'm sorry), because madoka is a deconstruction of said genre usually, magical girls are sweet and sugary and yet empowering for the little girls to go for their wishes, to fight with all their might, to not be afraid to make friendships, survive hardships, fall in love and, eventually, grow up it's a very sweet and yet surprisingly powerful phenomenon of a genre that boomed through the 90s and 2000s and then there's madoka, which made everyone drop their jaws on the floor with pure horror of what transpired, simply because nobody expected such a dark turn it was, in fact, so good in it's terrifying shock content-like plot twist, that it changed the magical girl genre or, rather, killed it, because soon after "tragical girl" animes started popping up like mushrooms after rain still, if you - or your wife - are interested in classic magical girl, i definitely recommend "the big three", aka the ones everybody knew about back in the day - sailor moon, cardcaptor sakura and revolutionary girl utena and as always, love your reactions!
I guess, *technically* you don't have to go outside and fight witches. Nobody forces you to do so as far as I know. But, you do remember what Mami told us about what greef seeds are used for? They purefy/refill the soul gems. Just remember this fact for the upcomming episodes. ;)

24:37 Not exactly. Each magical girl has a specialty magic that's based on the type of wish she made. In Sayaka's case, wishing to heal someone gives your self healing magic. In Mami's case, "clinging onto life" gave her binding magic. There's also other examples, but not on the main series. Homura also has one that's based on her wish.
You have a stronger will power than me. I couldn't wait five days after a cliffhanger like that. I ended up binging the whole series when I first watched it because of cliffhangers like this and the pacing.
I remember now that I marathon 12 episode of this serie on holiday evening till morning. I'm regret I did that, it's make me so depressed on that day 😂
Regarding relative strength, natural athleticism vs practice is basically what we mean, but 'Kyubey' said that Madoka would be much stronger than Mami. When I reached Episode 5, the way I saw it is that every magical girl's wish themes her powers. Sayaka Miki wishes to heal, so she's got rapid healing. Mami Tomoe wished to walk away from an auto accident, so she summons an embodiment of mechanical force - guns. I liked this outlook, because it meant I could start piecing together everyone's wish from their powers.
nice to see u watching madoka. its not my type off anime but i watched it bcs its like THE mahou shoujo anime, and its not bad and pretty interesting. hope u like it
Yes, their city has lots of witches. Magical girls want to be in places where their are lots of witches, because it means more chances to get grief seeds.
"is it possible for a magical girl to create another nagical girl?" one of the spinoff manga explains this in detail, actually. specifically the one based on joan of arc, though i don't remember the title. spoilers: the answer is yes, but it's complicated, and also a different circumstances from homura's.
24:24 it has less to do with the selflessness of the wish and more to do with the exact nature of what the girl asks for. Sayaka asked for healing, so she can heal too. Mami also asked for healing when she was in the car crash, so even though that was a "selfish" wish since it was for herself, she got the same sort of healing power as Sayaka. I won't spoil Kyoko (new girl) or Homura's (black hair) wishes, though I will say that Homura had a rather... unique wish, which is why her fighting style is so weird compared to everyone else. For a less spoilery example of how wishes can effect powers: in the spinoff Magia Record, there is a magical girl who actually did wish for money, specifically wanting to win the lottery (not entirely selfishly, since she wanted the money to save the restaurant that had been in her family for generations), and her special ability is basically generating good luck, not unlike Domino in Deadpool 2. Her wish was basically to be stupid lucky, so as a knock-on effect, she continued to be luckier than most people.
No, Mami got ribbon powers, her wish symbolises "connection" (wanting to connect to life), not healing, every magical girl can heal with their magic by default but Sayaka's is MUCH better at that
Honestly, if you want a refresh after this, Toradora! if you haven't already seen it is a short and sweet slice-of-life coming-of-age romance of unlikely but delightful protagonists with a happy ending. It won't make you cry too much and it doesn't have any sinister undertones. It's a great palate cleanser I love coming back to!
The fact that you started talking about timelines BY EPISODE FIVE is absolutely astounding!! I have never heard of someone cluing into the story THIS EARLY before.
It's not about how selfish the wish is. It's just that every magical girl gets bonus powers that are related to what their wish was. In your example, someone who wished for wealth might get the ability to control coins or something.
4:32 If you're thinking that now, wait until you're near the last episode. You'll practically hear your emotions screaming: "Wrong hole, Japan! Wrong hole!"
Of course the kind of wish matters, but the strength of that wish is also really important. That's all I'll say for now. Alright, the rest of this comment is *spoilers*. Don't look, Luke. ... Damn, now that I think about, him wondering about if magical girls can create magical girls is... in a way not too far off from the mark. Except that what Homura did was create entire timelines. But the principle is the same - her being a magical girl is not "native" to this world. And, of course, there *is* something that magical girls *do* create... Oh man, can't wait for his reaction to that episode.
Regarding Strength Hierarchy: Be patient. You will know about the specific Strengths and Weaknesses of all of them soon enough, and that will help you assess who's stronger than who when the Time comes. What will also help is the 3rd Movie, Rebellion. As others have pointed out before, I *really* hope you'll watch it after the Series (Movies 1&2 are just a Summary of the Anime with better Graphics and less Scenes). And you'll need kinda fresh Knowledge of the Series to fully appreciate that one.
Well, now I really want you to do a reaction to your reaction to this once you finish the series, or at least a video where you talk about your previous impressions. Watching your theories with the benefit of knowledge of what happens in the future of the show is interesting. 11:32 'You could say yes, You could also say no.' I believe we have found schrodinger's Kyubey.
So funny you say Madoka can't go back in time to fix her mistakes. Yeah, that's pretty much a central theme of the show. What if you COULD though? Would anything actually change?
If you have the time to explain, I would be curious what you did with the audio. (It works very well, so, as an audio editor myself, I would love to know what you did to pull it off.)
If you found the art style of Madoka Magica is so unique, the director is “Shinbo Akiyuki” and the studio is “Shaft”. He is so famous for his unique editing and surrealic presentation. The environment serve as tools to aid the story telling than make it grounded, sometimes the environment doesn’t even make sense but it convey the emotion so well. If you found the Anime is kinda strange and have an “omnimous under-tone”, that’s why.
beyond the serries u have rebelion movie and the second serries magia record u should add to your reaction future list. ull get answers in the remaining eppisodes then rebelion and magia record andd to the mythos
Can a Magical Girl Make Another Magical Girl Answer Yes and No, there can be a Magical Girl with the unique Magic to Create other Magical Girls, Isabeau is one such Magical Girl who can make other Magical Girls as her i wish was "Everything you(Kyubey) possess"
Touka, Nemu and Ui can probably also make Magical Girls as Ui can harvest a soul, Touka can Convert it's Energy and Nemu can Manifest it into a soul gem
Kyubee seems to be sticking around for madoka. He's curious about her. Put yourself in the shoes (or paws) of kyubee. You've been doing this contract with girls and everything seems normal and then comes along a ordinary girl with HUGE potential, you would stay and keep an eye on her, no?
Dude, you need to come back to the metal side!!!!! You are missing so much new music from "LOVEBITES". NEMOPHILA", "BAND MAID"!!!!! Also, there is a new all-female band out of Korea named "ROLLING QUARTZ" that are quite good!!!!! They released a new song called (Fearless) that hit 1 million views on 23 days!!!!! And they will be touring in Europe early next year!!!!! Come back please!!!!!
I am sure some else has made a comment about this but magical girls don't get stronger by making selfless wishes, their wish influences their magic abilities, Sayaka wished to heal another person, so he has healing magic. Mami wished to survive, but I am unsure what influence that had on her magic. And Kyoko's and Homura's wishes and magic are spoilers at this point, so I won't say anything.
What Kyoko says about magical girls "eating" witches suggests that avoiding fighting witches may not be a viable option. It is a rather messed up concept to view the relationship between magical girls to witches and humans is as a predator on a predator with humans being the prey at the bottom of the food chain rather than as heroes to villains to victims.
Why are you saying there is something wrong. Everything is as it should. The only weird thing is, it's already ep5 but Madoka still haven't made her contract, despite the anime title.
The tone really goes off after ep 3. But you will understand why it goes like that. I put it here again, try to not skip the opening and ending. The lyrics on both actually help you to understand the story more, and even they do play an important part later on. They are dinamic. I wish you see this! Nice reaction!
there is a 3rd way to do audio, record your voice seperately to the anime so you just cut out the anime sounds. Not saying that is better but its an option. Personally I prefer what you are doing now, I dislike when the whole thing is muted
I remember when this anime was airing for the first time someone in 2chan got a QB (kyubei) plushie, then tied it to the back of his car and drove it through mud. Sums up how people felt about QB lol

I’ve watched the anime, and I gotta say, the “yes and no” thing by kyuubei makes sense.
Thank you for explaining what you can at the moment! It does help! 💜
You are right about the inexperience part.
Remember that
It would be a spicy memory at later episode.
24:46 This isn't explained in the show, and it's only revealed in one of the audio stories, but Mami was Kyoko's mentor, and the two of them used to be good friends. That's why Sayaka's comment here ticks her off so much.
"Everything feels wrong" I can't wait for you to react to the movie 🤣
Oh, definitely hoping he watches it
👀👀👀
are you thinking of one in particular or referring to all 3 of them as a single movie?
@@chemislife The first two really don't count. They're cut-down recaps, with a bit of a spit-shine.
@@bemusedbandersnatch2069 false
they got all the original staff and the script was written in 2014/2015
You make a very good point about how it might be good for Madoka to make a contract now (14:26).
12:22 what kyubey meant was "yes, only I can make magical girl, but she (homura) didn't make the contract." Only kyubey can make this, no other creature or people
24:39 nope.
😂
>evil cliffhanger
You're almost getting the OG experience!
The type of wish they make has a bearing on the type of powers they have.
What's making everything so sinister is probably the soundtrack, that is gorgeous btw, my favourite soundtrack ever
You write "Without spoiling anything" yet you explain things the viewer will learn by simply watching lol.
Kyoko and mami had a master and pupil relationship. It explained in one of the spinoff Mangas. Things will just get better from here
Imagine how painful it was watching this as it released.
“I hate this” yes welcomeeeee 😂😂
Also yes this what they mean when your wish affects your powers in some way hehehe there’s no real rule for it as far as I know. And in regards to having to fight witches, so far mami has said that getting grief seeds will help purify your gem and replenish your magic. Now why that’s so important, we don’t know yet
*I love kyoko lots, her design and weapon and all
From my understanding, the magical girl's wish affects what kind of power they have no matter what it is.
There are games, manga, and the mobile game had an anime version Magia Record (this series have a ton more characters and more magical girls).
the face when sayaka said „no one way i’ll regret it“ 😂
You have already met everyone that has or will become a magical girl in this show, although the Magia Record mobile game(which is set in a different city called Kamihama) and the several spin off manga feature the stories of other magical girls .
The cliffhangers are so annoying but that’s what keeps you coming back 😂 Kyoko is one of my faves, she really did want to end Sayaka though lol
Become Meguka!
No Meduka!
Meduka is suffering tho
I mentioned it on patreon as well, but you should consider adding an extra episode to next weekend. If you're watching two episodes at a time that means next week is 6 and 7, then 8 and 9, then 10 and 11, leaving 12 on it's own with a week between 11 and 12. If you add an extra episode to next week it will even it out so that you get 6, 7, and 8 together, 9 and 10, and then 11 and 12

To answer your question at the end - remember, they’re gem’s get cloudy and need to kill witches to clean their gems :) so you couldn’t just take the back seat and be chill / wait a long time in between killing witches :)
the "shift" that you're experiencing after episode 3 is the best part of madoka magica
it's a bit of a shame that you don't have any prior experience with magical girl genre (unless i'm wrong, which case i'm sorry), because madoka is a deconstruction of said genre
usually, magical girls are sweet and sugary and yet empowering for the little girls to go for their wishes, to fight with all their might, to not be afraid to make friendships, survive hardships, fall in love and, eventually, grow up
it's a very sweet and yet surprisingly powerful phenomenon of a genre that boomed through the 90s and 2000s
and then there's madoka, which made everyone drop their jaws on the floor with pure horror of what transpired, simply because nobody expected such a dark turn
it was, in fact, so good in it's terrifying shock content-like plot twist, that it changed the magical girl genre
or, rather, killed it, because soon after "tragical girl" animes started popping up like mushrooms after rain
still, if you - or your wife - are interested in classic magical girl, i definitely recommend "the big three", aka the ones everybody knew about back in the day - sailor moon, cardcaptor sakura and revolutionary girl utena
and as always, love your reactions!

Sayaka can heal others too.
Sayaka can heal others too.
Kyuoko was planning to kill Sayaka, but for a second, thought it might not be necessary.
Haha, in fact, this is a very good stopping point for the show.
You have a stronger will power than me. I couldn't wait five days after a cliffhanger like that. I ended up binging the whole series when I first watched it because of cliffhangers like this and the pacing.
このアニメはとても奇妙ですよね。困惑されているのも含めて楽しませてもらっています。この先のリアクションも楽しみにしています。
To answer your question: Yes it is possible for a Magical Girl to make Magical Girls.
God, I enjoy this alot :D
Watching you watching the show let's me relive it all over again.
nice to see u watching madoka. its not my type off anime but i watched it bcs its like THE mahou shoujo anime, and its not bad and pretty interesting. hope u like it
Why is homura so strong? Well because she's a baddass! She's HIM!!
Yes, their city has lots of witches. Magical girls want to be in places where their are lots of witches, because it means more chances to get grief seeds.
"is it possible for a magical girl to create another nagical girl?" one of the spinoff manga explains this in detail, actually. specifically the one based on joan of arc, though i don't remember the title. spoilers:
the answer is yes, but it's complicated, and also a different circumstances from homura's.
So it's not 100% one to one but depending on what you wish for but your wish will have an effect on your powers and other factors.
I'm sure people have already mentioned it but the audio for these episodes have been way better. I would say keep them like this
Agreed!
I love how episode 3 has kinda broken you, it really takes me back to when i first watch the series way back when and the experience i had.
No, Mami got ribbon powers, her wish symbolises "connection" (wanting to connect to life), not healing, every magical girl can heal with their magic by default but Sayaka's is MUCH better at that
@@leeleelee7878 you're totally right, I blanked on that bit whoops
Yes, it IS possible for a magical girl to create another. It has happened before.
Me (don´t spoil the bridge scene, don´t spoil the bridge scene... Luke needs to end with the jaw to the floor whenhe realizes like I did...)
It's possible that witch isn't very strong, which is why it *needed* to use so much mind control
Madoka magica doesn't have much cliffhangers but then it does, it's a brutal one
You should check out the Ben To openings and ending.
Kyoko did plan on killing Sayaka but maybe she had a change of heart? Who knows... or do we?

Can a Magical Girl Make Another Magical Girl
Answer Yes and No, there can be a Magical Girl with the unique Magic to Create other Magical Girls, Isabeau is one such Magical Girl who can make other Magical Girls as her i wish was "Everything you(Kyubey) possess"
Touka, Nemu and Ui can probably also make Magical Girls as Ui can harvest a soul, Touka can Convert it's Energy and Nemu can Manifest it into a soul gem
Madoka thinks that if she is with Sayaka, then sje can wish if Sayaka gets into too much trouble.
Kyubee seems to be sticking around for madoka. He's curious about her. Put yourself in the shoes (or paws) of kyubee. You've been doing this contract with girls and everything seems normal and then comes along a ordinary girl with HUGE potential, you would stay and keep an eye on her, no?

"I have been ruined by episode 3"
Ohoho boy
There is so much I want to say, but everything I want to would be spoilers.
He's so paranoid and traumatized now
I remember when this anime was airing for the first time someone in 2chan got a QB (kyubei) plushie, then tied it to the back of his car and drove it through mud. Sums up how people felt about QB lol
You cannot go back on time.
