    I bought this specifically for the Reverb Shaper a few weeks back. I haven't used the reverb module a ton yet but I LOVE the noise shaper. It's absolutely perfect for adding a little processed flourish to acoustic drum shells while still keeping them natural sounding (especially snares) and is 1000x easier to use and more inspiring / flexible than my traditional white noise generator setup in Reaper. I appreciate the video series on the ShaperBox stuff or I never would have even known it existed!

    It always makes me laugh so much to see you tweaking those plugins, and "magically" figuring out some unexpected results!
    (unexpected result to me, but most probably targeted result for you!), like the "forward backward reverb tail", and the stop of playback head to silence the reverb. Nice!
    You are a Sound wizard, from whom I learn and for whom I'll always be thankful, as having insane fun through geeky audio stuff is a beautiful way to see music, and to create the unexpected... thanks. I have to admit I'm always waiting impatiently for your next video, to the point that when one comes, I find myself watching a few old ones again! Cheers! Shine!

    I wish there was a feature in UA-cam only for this channel where I can switch off Dan speaking and just hear what's happening inside the video, his mixing psychologies are so intricate and complex that him just fiddling with a plugin sounds so musical, its like a performance in itself😂

    Thank you so much for this absolutely awesome info Dan, however, I was MOST impressed with how you turned a 'not so toy' drum snare into one of the best sounding 80's snares outside of a genuine 80's track I can remember hearing!

    If I could offer one touch of advice that may or may not be received in the same way as others, but I would love to hear your examples for an extra bar or two any time you show anything off. I'd love to be able to "settle into" any audible changes before hearing something new so I can feel the impact, rather than observe it in passing.
    Otherwise, as always, fantastic video!

    you need to record some narrations, Dan.
    or e-books.
    people in the comments start the mornings with your voice, but I am listening to your tutorials before going to sleep.
    the voice is mild and still and the background ambient textures are smooth, so both combined create a nice calming atmosphere.
    aside of emotions, the best thing in these tutorials is their informativity.
    always learning a lot from them.
    many thanks and best regards from Ukraine.

    Hey Dan, can you have a look at the VarietyOfSound plugins? He's been rewriting them all as 64 bit VST3, and they have gotten revisions that make them absolutely amazing. His new reverbs are incredible, and he has a third one coming! I've been a fan of them since I came across them in like 2015 or so, and getting them "back" into my life with the 64 bit updates has been a true joy!

    Dan I saw a video about adding stereo width using comb filters. I think i understood the concept. Could it be that combfilters for stereo-width be a better alternative than haas delay and other known methods?
    Video i talked about was a short from kilohearts. :)

    • @DanWorrall
      @DanWorrall  8 місяців тому

      It's kind of the same thing really. Haas delay will become comb filtering when the channels are mixed together. Comb filtering is literally just a short delay blended with the dry signal. I'm guessing you're referring to the widening technique where the delay is only added to the S channel? You can think of this as Haas delay, but in MS instead of LR.

    • @NIkalassen
      @NIkalassen 8 місяців тому

      @@DanWorrall yeah ok. The example They showed had almost no difference when summed in mono and where super wide in stereo. I have never heard something that wide that also works in mono. Almost like the perfect widening tool with no drawback in mono, is there such a thing?
      ua-cam.com/users/shortsmNVe5S_6uQY?si=7fMuGqxVrDupqmuo

    • @DanWorrall
      @DanWorrall  8 місяців тому

      @@NIkalassen yes! It's not just almost no difference in mono, it's 100% perfect no difference. You create equal and opposite comb filtering for the left and right channels, which cancels completely in mono.

    • @NIkalassen
      @NIkalassen 8 місяців тому

      @@DanWorrallThanks for answer. How would you replicate this with stock plugins? Do you believe this to be an better method than to use a haas delay? :)

    • @DanWorrall
      @DanWorrall  8 місяців тому +1

      @NIkalassen the delay needs to be in phase for one channel, but polarity flipped for the other. You may have a utility plugin that can flip just the left or right channel? Or you can have two delay channels (same delay time) hard panned, one flipped on the channel. Neither are inherently better, just different. Go with this method if you want the part centered but wide sounding. Use a Haas if you want it off to one side but with more depth than a simple pan.

    A creative "tip": you can use any sample as IR, doesn't have to be a reverb/cab etc.
