I just appreciate that I can hear Billy G. talk in my home through this medium. We lost Jimi 50 years ago, and here we have Billy addressing us still, after so many years delivering the goods, and no sign of stopping - amazing!!
Thank you Billy for ZZ Top. Dusty Rest In Peace brotha. I still have your Key chain hanging on the cigarette lighter of my tuxedo black 1964 Corvette coup. And I’m still a sharp dressed man.
Billy G. & I sat on the tailgate of my pickup truck at Albert King's retirement party at a "Black" nightclub in West Memphis, AR. on a pea gravel parking lot, a year or so before Albert passed. I tried to get him to go in and jam with Albert & Joe Walsh, who was also there, but because of his management contract at that time, Billy could not jam with them. Hard to believe I know but all absolutely true! We just sat on my tailgate and listened and talked. I had met Billy several times at Ardent Studios in Memphis, and Joe was working at KIVA Studios in Memphis at that time too. I had written 9 songs for Albert and he recorded all of them. 3 have been released on an album called "Red House." and there in lies the connection of why I was there. It was indeed a great night for me as I found B. Gibbons to be a great guy, easy to talk to and very much just like the rest of us musicians. I remember him picking up my black telecaster at Ardent on night and saying, "This MF plays man." He asked what is it? I told him Tom Keckler had built it out of a 67 Tele body, a 52 Esquire neck and two baby humbuckers double wound. So BG said, "Man that's a FIBSON." It's been my FIBSON ever since. I treasure that guitar and the memory as well. God Bless You Billy Gibbons and YES Joe Hardy was a special man indeed and he made every session he worked liven up and loosen up as he controlled the room with his amazing recording ability and quick wit. An extremely funny man with a huge heart. RIP. Joe Hardy and God Bless his wife Trish! RIP Dusty and God Bless you as well Mr. Gibbons and my old "FIBSON" is singing hello to ya...

First of all I am blown away by this album Hardware. After listening to the entire composition, the last track Into the Desert, takes me back in a totally different way to Jim Morrison and his poetry. Very Western however, loved it. Great work Billy Gibbons.
When he talks about “the desert” I’m reminded of that great Stu Hamm & Eric Johnson song “Lone Star” which Stu wrote after driving through the Texas desert.
I was a tourist in Santa Fe in 1983 looking at the Art and for the first time I experienced the Desert. The car overheated on the drive there and having had to stop, I experienced my first Mirage, surreal. So I kinda know what the artist Billy Gibbons is talking about.
Hi billy, your new cd is great. I love ZZtop since 1982. I think it's good that you don't compete with ZZtop on your solo projects. It would be huge for all of your fans if you recorded a CD with your Pearly Gates. I understand that a guitarist develops and of course finds other guitars that sound good. You are the best example of this. Still, it would be a highlight for all of your fans. I saw ZZtop for the first time in 1982 in the Rockpalast. And then again and again. Please do it. It is just the feeling.
Billy what a buddy you are since nobody can fill Dusty's boots you made such a tribute to The Dust man by putting a guitar player to fill dustys position ..Just amazing and yes in our camp you and the other guys will always have a place...jam on boy!oo hardware is amazing...
I first heard ZZ Top , I guess I was 12 Year's Old." Tres Hombres" I have just been performing Live In Buena Park California.I added some of their Classics " Tush " etc.. I then read that the Bass Player
Had Died.I have been now reading and listening to Documentaries on UA-cam. I heard " Pincushion " now I play it on the Harmonica. That is in my opinion right up there with La Grange Tush, etc.. You realize Wow it's awesome to have been a part of that since age 12 now at 60 year's old, what an Honor to now be Performing thier amazing songs.but Sad To Lose one of the Master's of Rock... Rip < James E.Gallagher Check out my UA-cam Channel " James Gallagher Buena Park California Harmonica Player...God Bless Stay Safe ..< Enjoy....
I heard Tyler Bryant actually did sound engineering on the Larkin Poe song. It’s typical of his Larkin Poe recordings. He’s Rebecca Lovell’s husband and plays lead guitar in Tyler Bryant and the Shakedown.
jimmy page and slash are great BUT no one touches that amazing talent and soul of billy, he's inspired so many and he's all around a good dude, zero bullshit. I wish he would just do an hour podcast talking about gear
08:47 Is it true you used Augie Meyers' original Vox Continental combo organ on your recording of "Hey Baby Que Paso?" I think I hear a cheesy organ line in that recording. Hardware's version of this tune is a bit different from Augie's/Sir Douglas Quintet's/Texas Tornados' conjunto versions. 21:33 the guitar riff on "She's on Fire" sounds familiar; a very similar riff is heard in the song "Stages" from the ZZ Top album "Afterburner."
i hope y dont mind if i try to come up with notes that are in the places you might put them..not always but i just get a charge from hangin late on bent thirds n stuff like that..
Not my taste that recent mainstream rock album, i hoped he would put out some stuff going back to the roots, sound of the first two ZZTop albums or earlier, make an album with just that Melody Maker and a Champ, or a Lightnin Hopkins tribute, pure, minimalist, no processing...
I've listened to it all. Just my opinion but, you should have started with acoustic guitars and with more percussion. Some old Dobro for slide. Drop the heavy distortion. Mostly it sounds like ZZ Top B sides.
Ya billy sounds real but unfortunately I looked up to this man and zztop had a opening for this guy in North Dakota and they called off the opening band then treated everyone rudley they will never be hired in this state again thanks to there own doing fake is fake they have forgotten who and what fas are about long ago sadly
The Reverend Billy F. Gibbons IS this tour, he is the man upon whom this entire burden rests. Benton Blount made an adult decision that offended his boss. His boss made a decision. I'm sure that Mr. Blount and his ilk would welcome your support in the waning days of the maggot who inspired the insurrection that divided modern America.
I guess no more ZZtop. THIS LIKE THIRD ABLUM NOT ZZtop. No real bass player! Lefty upside down backwards guitar player. Just left the other guys behind. Very happy for him but will probably never buy any of his solo album. For as long in recording his story sounds kinda hard to believe. Things being that hard to do. But seems to love to tell stories now. Way more then with ZZ. I guess now he is the center of attention. Then talks about Texas yet this was done in California desert... I guess no deserts in Texas. So more like Califorxas or Texafornia rock. More power to him and his bandmates. Miss that ZZ Top.
I agree , from Texas and him / ZZ Top act like their from California, they don't even play Houston or Texas that much and doesn't even give more attention to Texas...............if you can't give more to Texas screw u
Sad. If that’s all you have to say, then you’ve just shown your weak, pathetic insecurities, for all to see. Go away and try to do something worthwhile.

The talk about that Mexican restaurant is making me hungry right now. She's on Fire is favorite track, it's a masterpiece.
I love this record. Been rockin' it all week here in Cali.

Damn good album. Still listening, for 2 years. Spanish Fly is classic. Can't wait for the follow-up album!
Love the CD👍😎
Billy is a great music man and a gentleman. I ran into him in Houston and he was soooooooo nice!
Hi Billy! This CD Hardware is very good. You are a very great guitarist and Singer. I find You have a very great voice. I love Your music
I can feel the desert, awesome sound Billy !

The One that Possesses the Cap of Swagger, the Shades of Cool, & the Beard of Tone, is Never Wrong!!!😎
It's a really good album, man, every single song!!

Popping in with Jimmy Johnson was epic . . .

El Sájara! Keep recording music, you talented man. Good stuff!
Loved this, but just have Andy ask the questions, I couldn't change modes fast enough to read them in that tiny font and awful background color
Good Album Billy
MR GIBBONS BROUGHT IT - BRINGS IT - ALLWAYS GETS IT DONE ON THE PLANK, A AMERICAN ICON. PEACE
The record is great!!
Interesting this Ardent Memphis connection! Big Star etc.
Ahh..yes... To be a fly on the wall in that studio
I gave the album a listen...actually.several times and "Hardware" is bad to the bone....100% Dig It!
Listened to several songs for days. Matt turned me on to this
There are men, and there are Magical Men. Mr Gibbons is in the top drawer.
Billy's vocals sound great. Still sounds like the ZZ Top iconic voice guy. And, the music is same as usual=The best.

I would like to know if this studio was out in the middle of nowhere
How did you all get electricity out there 🤷♂️😀😀😀

the high desert near joshua tree/landers is where scientific documented energy can be found.

Yeah where is Dusty and Frank beard? I haven’t seen them lately.
How close was this recording studio from where, Gram Parson,s friends Set Him on Fire after he Died? Cousin Figel
Same area, but not the motel or Cap Rock location.
@@davidmueller980 thanks for the reply
She’s on Fire , lightin my fuse and grabbing my gears. Hardware is CaliTexMex with some ZZTop echoes.
wot a nice old man - who is he? is he, like, that other one - the one who did stuff with u2? they seem similar, innit

Retired from the stage in 1982 or thereabouts but still played on every album after.
