Overcall & Del Insko, Good Enough, Good Time Boy, Texan Hanover, Silent Byrd, Effrat Hanover. Trophy Presentation by David Haber, president of Suffolk Downs in Boston, Ma.
I think what’s equally impressive here is the fact that Yonkers Raceway had multiple camera angles in 1966. Most race tracks even in 2010 did not have a backstretch camera which they included in their feed. Even though every track has a camera in a tower back there for the judges view. I never understood why they did not switch between camera angles in the backstretch. It would’ve been nice to see a different angle of the race when watching.
Everyone once in awhile a true champion comes down the road and does everything he can to prove himself and does. Sadly like in every other faze of life some of those champions never get credit for it. Overcall was one of those champions. One reason I respect Insko. He never leaves that little horse out of an interview. He was loyal to a great horse and he drove many great horses in his time,
I was at every race that Overcall was in and never had $2 on him. I kept thinking he can't everytime! Guess I was wrong and Del has a soft spot in his heart for him too!
The Great OVERCALL !In the very late60's at the GREATEST HARNESS TRACK IN THE WORLD !!!!!!! ,R O O S E V E L T !!!, I would see OVERCALL win, week after week ! Always the favorite [I don't play favorites--cause when I do --THEY LOSE !!!]. And if it was a close race, the people would shout out-"BEAT OVERCALL, BEAT OVERCALL" But they never could !!! BUT,one night we all saw it-those of us standing down on the ground, RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE FINISH LINE !, -HE LOST !!!- THE PHOTO said DIFFERENTLY !
WHAT A GOOD DRIVE BY DEL INSKO BEATING THE BEST PACERS IN NORTH AMERICA WITH OVERCALL DELL IS A FORGOTTEN DRIVER BUT HE WAS ONE OF THE BEST IN NEW YORK IN THE 60.S
A Correction is in order here...it should be "Goodnuff" who became a very good sire in Ontario and several of his offspring became Sires stakes winners in the early days of the OSS...

1966 comadore pace at Roosevelt
gold toothpick Savoir 2 come-INSKO
This had to be Yonkers answer to the National Pacing Derby held at Roosevelt at the same 1 1/4 mile distance...

Overcall stood at stud in New York for many years and went to Ohio when his pedigree was no longer in fashion...
