I do understand the nature of Teahupo’o, but can someone tell me if you were where the wave breaks, what is the likelihood you would survive? I believe there’s a razor sharp coral reef right there. But as a “normal” person you would not survive that wave breaking on you correct?
It's very shallow reef that's why a lot of guys wear helmets now. So far there have been no deaths but there are a lot of close calls from hitting the reef. A lot of skin has been left on the reef for sure over the years

I realize that its plain, that these surfers grew up living this life style, among the big surfs and are experts. Of course, they can get hurt at times. Nature is so unpredictable. Still, waves are so beautiful and so mesmerizing to watch. 👍🌊🏄♂️🏄♀️

These are Not waves. They are Tsunamis
OMG!😱 Now I can just imagine when that 30m tsunami first hit the beaches of Banda Aceh Indonesia in 2004 estimating killing over 100,000's of ppl and tourists!🌊😢

@@WavesoftheWorld :( Because I love to swim into the ocean to let the waves there take me up and down but for this to happen I need to overcome those breaking waves towards the beach. I usually just swim right into them and it works but of course these waves are at best 2m high. I guess I cannot do that on beaches with very big waves, right?

@@helnorse Jeezus Christ! They just couldn’t use the already existing wooden platform that’s been in use for years (if I remember the report correctly).
@@GrumpyOldFart2 nope...they made it smaller than they wanted but they build a metal platform into the reef...that makes the water lind of dirty and the fish all fled from the pollution....fuck the olympic comitee...thez shouæd have buold a,wavepool somewhete in france...i don t understand that...i surf the french coast since almost 4 decades .. world class lineups...no need to kill teahupoo
