Finally Rick gets to show off his guitar muscle and not care about any pop-rock image. This hits on all the right notes for those of us who wanted something harder. ESPECIALLY THE NEW SANTA IS AN ANAGRAM TUNE!!!!! These are frickin awesome. Btw, all the haters always gonna hate. Rick is a rock God!
Saw Rick tonight in Key West and MAN did this song kick ass live! I did NOT expect it at all, and after that I wished there was more of this album in the show! Of course a bunch of people were predictably shouting Jessie's Girl because they cant wrap their mind around the fact that artists evolve explore new pieces of themselves over several decades, but THIS stuff just really showed off the bands energy and power. 69 years old and he crushed it harder than people half his age or less.
Rick, love the rockin, bluesy feel. Thanks so much for being incredible to your fans throughout the years! I can't imagine the pressures of being in your position but you took several minutes to speak to my wife and I in Lake Charles, LA and treated us like long time friends. I've seen you in concert 3x's from 1983-2016 and the crowd can always feel that 1-you NEVER fail to rock and 2- you really want them to enjoy themselves. Thanks so much.
Nice tune, thanks for plugging this on your channel. Rick seems to have a pretty good band behind him to pull this off. It also reminded me of Zeppelin. The song seems to be lacking a big chorus, but maybe that's a good thing - proof that good music doesn't need nonstop singing!
I love that Rick stretches the limits of expression with this new song. Different isn't always good, but I think he nailed it! Can't wait for the rest.
It's about time! Been saying for years he should do a blues rock album. This style suits him well and really shows off his guitar chops. Great bluesy riffs and the slow jam at the end was a surprise. I love the fact that he is always experimenting with different styles of rock as he matures. Keeps it interesting. I really do think with this one he's found his groove! Can't wait to hear more!
I am impressed! I'm of the generation that was told certain songs played on vinyl conjured evil when played backwards and that two songs from The Beatles White Album inspired some pretty heinous crimes back in the day. Rick shouldn't be pigeonholed into the 1980's. His musician's wings are spreading....more power to him...I'm loving the new sound!
Regarding comments that an artist should stick to one style, and do only what they are known for. Why? For just the fans? At this point in his life....he can write/create whatever he feels. He has always struggled with depression, and with the names of some of these songs, and some lyrics in this song...my guess he is touching on that. My thoughts...an artist or band should do what they Feel.....and not feed into just making a 'pop' song that has no meaning. We as fans do not have to like or purchase everything our favorite artists create. Just allow artists to expand their abilities...and as long as they are happy doing that....that is all that matters. Just because you are good at one thing...doesn't mean its your happy place.
Love the line “stay away from my girl, nimrod” 😂 Magnificent Vibrations, anyone? Love the guitar, would have liked more lyrics though, but sounds good, looking forward to the album!
I have always wondered what it would be like if a 'pop icon' would 'sell out' and do really important and meaningful music... That question has been answered... This is some good shit you been smokin.... and I always liked your pop side... but this is a nice change... and a really good way to 'sell out'....
Never heard of them, so can't compare. This is the first time I've ever heard the song Little Demon (I would love to know who WROTE this song!!!) - until I hear another version, Sprinfield wears my crown. :-)
SG WOODWARD Great song till he stole the slow part from a band called Point Blank, bounce over and give " Wandering" a listen,,if your a soutgern girl Miss Essgee, you like em a lot.
I like it! The more rock-oriented the better. Still waiting for a new Tao or Rock of Life. Please, Rick. Or just take the old songs and make them shiny and new, cause they are great, even if the sound has to be updated.
Hated the last album. That out of the way, I'm onboard here. In the vein of SDAA, Sound City, Living In Oz. Yep, I'm in the RS dude demographic. And yet I know plenty of dudettes that like the more rockin' stuff as well. Time for OUR album cycle again. Hoping we get to see it on vinyl.
Little Demon, did we go South I was sure I could haunt you Skin to skin, we were mouth to mouth Little Demon, I want you Little Demon, you're in my head I keep trying to replace you Still burning for you in bed Hoping time will erase you Little Demon, she slept with God And he sent me a warning Stay away from my girl, Nimrod Or you won't see the morning
opening lyrics wreck it. we used to sidle up to someone 30 years ago and say in their ear "you little devil" or "you little demon" and it was a joke. corny at the beginning needs to go. there is enough potential angst in the music itself to make something of it but it is not ready for prime time.
He went from the positive King of Comebacks to the deeply negative Prince of Darkness on this album. He seems lost. That being said the music and melodies are great just much too dark lyrically for my taste. I hope he finds some hope.
RIck has gone to the dark side. All these songs with dark undertones...and the creepy characters he’s playing. Stop it! I want the classy guy in the suit who sang great, heartfelt pop rock songs! I guess he’s gone. The grunting ‘demon’ at the end solidified it. My RIck is gone...
I lied the other is good too but I am tired and did not have a few so feel better Rick I could kiss you but your not mine to kiss>>>>>>>>> love you love this song too as I need to get this one too its good gets your feelings out as when you dont know someone you leave it alone until what until my sister says I know who she is talking about and I say maybe but I got the glue I will tape my mouth.
What happened to you you going into Satan territory but that's you I like your old stuff like Jessie's Girl don't talk to strangers I like your old stuff I will not be buying a new stuff
Here's the problem. And my thoughts are similar to David Austin's below in the comments. First, I have no issue with Rick Springfield stretching his musical muscles and attempting the Blues. But, forget for a moment this is a Rick Springfield song. It's not that interesting or catchy. The groove at the beginning is nice, but over complicated, so it sounds mushy. Part of that is the fault of production. Should have been cleaner and punchier. Next, just because it's the "Blues", why does it have to deviate from what Springfield is a Master at? He's a genius at catchy Choruses and bombastic Bridges. How cool would it have been to hear him incorporate those in the Blues style? Does this song even have a Chorus? Lyrically, this song is basic, at best. And the soloing at the end is decent, but not note-worthy. I had no desire to listen to it a second time. I fault his producers on this one. They gave him bad direction. And if he was the sole producer, then the blame is all Rick's. There is nothing in this song that has the "Rick Springfield" stamp on it. And there could have been. He's talented enough to pull off many genres of music. As long as he brings himself along for the ride. Unfortunately, this isn't Springfield doing the Blues. There's nothing Springfield about this song. And that sucks. Because it could've been amazing.
I know whats bugging us both!! That slow outro is a rippoff of Point Blanks song Wandering!!! I didnt hate the first half, but fuck it, I cant abide plagiarism, prick springfield sucks.
Sorry people but this is garbage. If i wanted to listen to the blues I would do that. Honestly most people like Rick Springfield for what he built most of his career on, the catchy melodic songs. I think this happens to many famous musicians. They get bored with making pop songs and need to diversify to show their evolving talent. I hate when this happens. Sorry Rick but I am not drinking the cool aid and calling it as I see it.
101% on spot. This has happened to so many bands/artists - they have completely left their original style that made them rich and famous. If they want to produce different music, I think they should create a new band name/monicker to release different sounding stuff. Otherwise, fans will definitely be disappointed and stop buying albums and listen to stuff on YT/Spotify instead or doing illegal MP3 download because they want to have it for their collection but are not willing to pay for something they don't like.
Then don't buy it! And actually, some of Ricks deeper cuts from like Livin' in Oz, had some of this type of feel.. But if you want to just keep listening to his pop stuff, then go listen to his pop stuff.
Living in Oz is my all-time favourite album by Rick. The lyrics on LiO are truly inspiring and in my opinion the best he has ever done. Same for the songs. But there is nothing in this new song (instruments / lyrics / composition) that reminds me of LiO - and that's quite sad.
the writing structure.. But if you go back.. not one Rick Springfield sounds a like. You can hear the structure of most songs being close, but again, they're the same writer(s). but the music is different. The styles are different. no way is working class the same as LIO, or LIO like Tao or is Tao anything like Rock of Life or Karma etc.. every album has a different sound and feel, but you can tell every song is Rick Springfield though. He has always done this.. not sure why people are freaking out, other than those that just want him to go back to 1983 and just keep putting out LIO part 2,3,4,5,6,7 etc etc.. no artist does that.. carbon copies suck
Are you kidding me?!?! YOU get better with age Mr. Springfield. Righteous!
Saw Rick tonight in Key West and MAN did this song kick ass live! I did NOT expect it at all, and after that I wished there was more of this album in the show! This “album” rocks!!! Start to finish it pulls you in and takes you on a journey. Great job Rick...it’s a masterpiece.
Wow, was not ready for that. A killer modern blues rocker with a Pink Floydish outro...smokin!
Nice tune, thanks for plugging this on your channel. Rick seems to have a pretty good band behind him to pull this off. It also reminded me of Zeppelin. The song seems to be lacking a big chorus, but maybe that's a good thing - proof that good music doesn't need nonstop singing!
The Real Music Observer That Pink Floyd outro is from a song by Point Blank, " Wandering", give it a listen. Apparently prick springfield did.
Even better live in concert
Seen it live....It sounds awesome!
I though it was better at the concert but I couldn’t express it cause I was with my mom...
WOW. This is stunning. Awesome.
Saw this in concert in vegas, so damn good . ROCK ON RICK!
Just saw him tonight in Cherokee, NC. Awesome show!
I love that Rick stretches the limits of expression with this new song. Different isn't always good, but I think he nailed it! Can't wait for the rest.

Mo jo that slow jam was stolen from Point Blanks song Wandering,,sorry, ricks a thief,
Sorry I disagree. People can have many different influences over the years. The songs are very different
Seen him play this live last night. Awesome show!
if the whole album sounds that good....we should be in for a killer album
Multi talented man. I would leave my hubby for him. lol
This one is absolutely phenomenal. "Little Demon" That's cool. ❤️
Got this cd. It's my go to when I write my stories. It sets the right mood.
I like the guitar, the spooky vibe..... always love Ricks voice, maybe it will grow on me more.
Rick always ROCKS !
Love this! ! ❤ CONGRATULATIONS Rick, can't wait to hear more! !!🎶🎸🎵

Really liking this.....some pretty cool guitar playing in it too.
Has a great groove and love the slow down on the end!
Jack Stepro if you love the slowdown you should hear the original version of the song. I listen to Wandering by Point Blank, way better album too,,1

love it
Rock on.
Holy c..p! So damn good!
The swampy, bluesy feel makes this southern girl, really, really, REALLY happy.
SG WOODWARD Great song till he stole the slow part from a band called Point Blank, bounce over and give " Wandering" a listen,,if your a soutgern girl Miss Essgee, you like em a lot.
That's because your a little Demon.
Rick and Roll baby!!
I like it! The more rock-oriented the better. Still waiting for a new Tao or Rock of Life. Please, Rick. Or just take the old songs and make them shiny and new, cause they are great, even if the sound has to be updated.

Hmm ... yeah .. wasn’t expecting horns and blues. Wondering about rest of the songs now..

So surprised I could listen to this he d jayed on XM on the blues channel today
Little Demon, did we go South
I was sure I could haunt you
Skin to skin, we were mouth to mouth
Little Demon, I want you
Little Demon, you're in my head
I keep trying to replace you
Still burning for you in bed
Hoping time will erase you
Little Demon, she slept with God
And he sent me a warning
Stay away from my girl, Nimrod
Or you won't see the morning
genius
Luigi Alzati your genius stole the slow part from a band called Point Blank, the song is called Wandering.
Excellent~!..... Like 1:07~1:17 stood out and funny ending @ 5:10~lol
uuuhhhhhh mazing!!!
......luv it....... :)
BOOM
Better than that last one.
I swear I heard "Stay away from my girl named Ron." Lol
I dig it, to me it's maybe a little over produced...I could do without the horns but I like the rawness.
Pretty fucking cool!
Rick , try again !!!
My brother....
Jep! :D
Супер!
I dont understand
I just saw this on vice O:
I love watching Rick play guitar so looks like I'm gonna be in heaven or elsewhere lol
I just wish he remade the song Angel. I think it would fit in in this album really well.
Who said rock n roll is dead...
Horns sound kinda redundant, but he did tried his hardest here, for sure
opening lyrics wreck it. we used to sidle up to someone 30 years ago and say in their ear "you little devil" or "you little demon" and it was a joke. corny at the beginning needs to go. there is enough potential angst in the music itself to make something of it but it is not ready for prime time.
It's OK.
He went from the positive King of Comebacks to the deeply negative Prince of Darkness on this album. He seems lost. That being said the music and melodies are great just much too dark lyrically for my taste. I hope he finds some hope.
Babe...text me. Clearly this is about me. ;)👹🤺
That is not you!!
RIck has gone to the dark side. All these songs with dark undertones...and the creepy characters he’s playing. Stop it! I want the classy guy in the suit who sang great, heartfelt pop rock songs! I guess he’s gone. The grunting ‘demon’ at the end solidified it. My RIck is gone...
not crazy on it
this whole album was good but I didnt buy it but yes I am a Jesse's Girl literally

Someone please dislike this to exorcise the 66th Dislike. I couldn't.

You should definitely go find yourself a loving girlfriend, dude.
Daniel Eduardo Cobos Fuentes bwaaaaahahaahahahaaha,, funny, for me its ok cuz i play guitar, i can see how some will hate tho,
You do realize his very first band back in Australia, Do it, was a blues band, right? These are his roots. *facepalm*
You are one of the many hating on the song haha
I know whats bugging us both!! That slow outro is a rippoff of Point Blanks song Wandering!!! I didnt hate the first half, but fuck it, I cant abide plagiarism, prick springfield sucks.

Sounds great, but not enough lyrics. I love Rick's voice so I'm disappointed in this song.
Awesome
