Whilst researching my late Welsh Paternal Grandfather's Ancestry, I was told by my Aunt about how his parents (my Great Grandparents) met. My Great Grandmother, who's name was Blodwen, was a plump simple looking girl, with hair "as straight as pokers". She was at a "ball" one evening and this slim, dashing and handsome young man (my Great Grandfather) caught sight, then shortly became attracted to her during that time. Later on that evening, he got up to the stand and began to sing this very song in front of my Great Grandmother to get her attention. Seeing as I'm alive to tell the tale, you can obviously guess what happened as a result... It's a good song, I like it.

It's good to know that this is still being sung. Sad though that Ryan has now been dead for longer than he was alive.
