I always have her song "Ensemble" stuck in my head. :) Listening to her music helped a lot when I was learnng to speak French more fluently.
HOLY CRAP she can speak English REALLY well ! i would love to meet her !
Avec plaisir!
i did not expect her speaking voice at all, there's not even a hint of a french accent! that's so cool.
I expected her to be more like a girly girl, because of the way she sang. But she's really down to earth, love her
It's odd. With all of the music I've heard from her I've built her up in my head into something of a Goddess, but this interview brings her back down to earth and made her into a... tomboy? She seems like the exact opposite of what I was imagining from all of her music.
Damn, she has such a deep voice compared to her singing vocals, it's crazy :) and never thought her English was so perfect, always thought French Canadians had that quebecois accent but couldn't really speak English that well.
This is a brilliant interview. Looks very much like the work of Graeme Phillips...
I just love her so much!
she's so pretty, and such a great singer, PLUS those tattoos.......
thats the magic of Montreal, quebec canada. Its a french province but a lot of people in here are billingual
Great artist!
LEL, a FRENCH person who speaks ENGLISH fluently? whou, too damn awesome! hope in humanity restored👌
+San Tao ya lmao...she's canadian...from montreal. they speak english there as well
THIS video. I checked out WIM after this and I've been obsessed with them since. She really wasn't kidding.
Bravo ! Regarding her accent, maybe it's just harder to "get" french when you speak english and easier for someone speaking french to "get" the english/american accent.... English is much much easier to learn than french for anyone in this world....
Not really, it's just because she was brought up speaking both languages. She never had to really learn one or the other. They're both her native languages technically, she just prefers singing in French.
English is very difficult to learn. It has very complex analytic verb syntax with weird future tense rules, a large number of vowel sounds, quite a few difficult frictive consonants, about twice the vocabulary of French, many different local accents, complex rules about where contractions are preferred or not allowed, implied orders for adjectives, highly non-phonetic spelling, and a lot of diphthongs. The only thing that's really difficult about French for a learner compared to other languages is that the way it's spoken, a whole sentence can sound like one long word, and two very different interpretations of a something can differ by just a vowel sound or two. Most of the things you have to memorize are specifics about verb usage and fixed expressions, but that's something you have to learn in any language. French still uses the subjunctive, but that's really not an uncommon feature. All things considered, French is probably one of the easier languages for an English speaker to learn because of all the common words and shared expressions.
I love her. She's perfect. How could she get hate or threats?? And I can't even tell which is her first language, I'm taking French and it's kinda difficult.
Thank You
i love you, beatrice martin
loving her
she sounds totally different from what i expected when she talks in english... I STILL LOVE HER THOUGH :D
@Maaryash : si on ne t'as pas déjà répondu : la chanson est : "c'était salement romantique" !! voilà bne écoute.
She's French Canadian, French is her first language and english her second.
"C'était salement romantique", from the first album.
She was INCREDIBLE english as well as french (i am soooo jealous O_O)
@ozziedoggy14 I think she was raised in both (probably one parent speaking only French and the other only English) but I'm not 100% sure.
@maynabella she isn`t french she was born in Québec, Canada
shes so cool! and Alexisonfire! woooo
WAIT. SHE'S ENGLISH TOO? AMAZING.
Her first language is french, but she learned English at school.
Naturellement, elle parle anglais. Je t'aime, Béatrice!
C'est quoi le titre de la chansons au tout début qu'elle chante??? Svp
oui ;)
It's hard to explain. In Quebec, the French accent may carry over into your English, depending on how English-friendly the community is. It varies a lot; my father grew up in Northern Quebec and he still carries his accent. Sorry for the long answer. >.
Dernière chanson s'il te plaît, name of the last song PLEASE
c'était salement romantique
how to write name this australian band ??
Je ne parlent pas français mais je peux vous dire qu'elle est étonnant!
I just came to mtl, wanna learn french :P
She LIVES in Toronto... Did you not watch the video? Lol
It's because she's québécoise. Thus perfect English and French.
@Baybeeka16 wow bear no need for the anger . i just didn't know that she could speak english

@ThaRealHipHop2008 No she's not!
@ArrowSmith95 C'est quoi sonner naturel pour toi?? Béa est parfaitement bilingue , mets toi ça dans la tête
Someway, somehow, she's doing it right :3
oh my gooodddd, she doesn't even have an accent it's so frustrating being from the west! I wanna learn french so bad, and we have mandatory classes in school but it's so difficult when you only do it a couple times a week!
@james1471 Hence "Coeur de pirate", an ironic image !!
her first language is french
actually there are a lot of quebecois cant speak english at all
Elle parle anglais?!
I don't like girls with tattoos but i'm gonna make an exception :)
Yeah, she's canadian, but french-canadian, so she speaks french...
OK
she's so pretty, and such a great singer, but GOD those tattoos.......
Did she just say the Weeknd? OMFG That would be interesting..
@james1471
that's pretty narrow minded
How is it possible to hate French?
Soooooooo jealous of her bilingualism.
The Weeknd. OVOXO

@sophilosophie gosses velues
She doesn't even have a french accent when speaking english.
It makes me feel really, really lame! lol
Beautiful voice, nice girl - don't understand why she's covered herself with tattoos. Inconsistent with the image she portrays.
