The WWII aircraft are simply the most beautiful aircraft imo. They have a style and beauty that modern aircraft simply do not posses. My first live introduction after having built every model, some multiple times was The Confederate Air Force in 1977. Steve Majors (The Six Million Dollar Man) had two aircraft there, a HE-111 he flew in and a HE something that was a trainer aircraft used as a stepping stone to the 109. It looked very much like a 109 but had a smaller engine HP wise and it had a larger radiator exposure in the front in a U shape directly behind the prop almost like a P-40. It was painted in a desert livery. Saw Fi-Fi fly that day as well and met a couple of the Memphis Bell's crew members. I was 12.

I work at the museum that currently houses the XP-88. She’s an amazing aircraft with an incredible backstory. Only flying example in the world, currently for sale at 15million, I know the owner and can get you a better price!! 😅

I've seen most of these types fly in airshows and I'll take seeing them over jets any day. The Commemorative Air Force (then called the Confederate Air Force) once had a Twin Mustang in it's fleet. It was an awesome plane to see fly but sadly suffered a belly landing in late 1987 and to my knowledge was never rebuilt.

i remember the twin mustang being kind of weird looking, you almost wonder if the pilots argued who was gonna fly the thing.

There are only 2 F-82's that fly & both are in private collections.
The other 3 remaining F-82's are in Dayton Ohio in the N.M.U.S.A.F.
