    During Shigaraki's speech about destroying everything, there was a lot more than just that shot of the city in the manga. Referencing how everything that breathes bothers him, there's a massive panel behind Shigaraki (jagged web pattern) of everyday life going on: Midoriya and the others dancing, Bakugo yelling on the drums, Endeavor bringing flowers to Rei, Nine in his tank, Aizawa telling off All Might, Stain in his cell, Kamui Woods and Mt. Lady hanging out, etc.

    Because of moments from earlier seasons, when Shigaraki says that his comrades wishes will be respected, I actually believe him. (Also never noticed just how hard hitting and pretty deep Shigaraki's speech here about his feelings was) I saw this comment I found funny about Shigaraki's goals. I can't remember who said it but I have it because it was too good. It went something like this. (Also, asking again to make sure I don't forget to do it. Where is the Q&A form posted when it is?)
    "Other villains: "So what exactly is your goal?"
    Shigaraki: "I'm going to destroy what I want. And I want to destroy everything."
    Other villains: "What about your followers?"
    Shigaraki: "I won't destroy them."
    Other villains: "But you're going to destroy everything?"
    Shigaraki: "Yes."
    Other villains: "But not your followers?"
    Shigaraki: "Nope"

    Overall, while the anime is good, Id say it has a big tone problem. The manga keeps on growing darker in tone as it goes, and eventually tackles some really dark stuff, this arc as an example. The anime, however, keeps trying to appeal somewhat more to kids, it's audience majority, which causes some big problems, specially in this season, and even more so in those to come. Not so bad now, but very scared how they're gonna adapt the latest stuff

    • @kay-jay1581
      @kay-jay1581 2 роки тому +12

      Im not sure to if it’s to appeal to the audience it has to do more with tv violines. If they follow the same level of gore and violence they would have to change the rating for the anime. For manga it works because it’s black and white. There isn’t any red ink, that would make it more disturbing.

    • @mrrd4444
      @mrrd4444 2 роки тому +12

      That's not really how the anime works, and it feels like you and a lot of people don't know this. But TV ratings differ from manga by a mile. There are very specific rules around ratings, content, and censorship that have NOTHING to do with "appealing to a wider audience".

    • @soumyadeepmondal6130
      @soumyadeepmondal6130 2 роки тому +3

      @@mrrd4444 Yeah that is the point MHA recieved kid friendly ratings since the beginning and that's the issue. The rating is not changing. It is constant whereas the manga is growing darker and darker. If MHA started dark, like AOT for example, it would have started with a higher rating and would be able to add darker elements even more just like AOT. Censorship in AOT is so minimum because of that reason. But since it started with a lower age rating, hence now they have to stick to it or maybe need to approach whatever organisation that maintains these ratings and ask them to specifically change it. I believe that process must have multiple procedures to follow and hence why the studio management is avoiding it?

  • @Jesus-gn9fr
    @Jesus-gn9fr 2 роки тому +11

    Yeah I was going to mention. From the interactions within the League, it seems like Dabi is a second in command of sorts. Shigaraki seems to trust him more, or at least thinks of him as very competent and capable. Dabi got a Nomu all to himself in season 3 during the summer camp, and here he's been shown to have more freedom and authority of sorts than the other members. Dabi probably likes that. And while it does seem like he has some different motives than the rest of the League I never get the feeling that he would betray them. It's been shown that he "isn't good at interacting with people" ( he's been said to have burned so many) but he seems to tolerate the League members which is a huge upgrade. And throughout this arc that's shown more and that he kind of maybe is partial to them in a weird way. He has his own bigger goals but won't hurt them. It's probably a case of "I don't hate them".

    This has to be my third favorite arc of the show right behind the Overhaul arc (with time maybe it could even surpass it). It's amazing. I went back and read the manga since people hated how this arc was so "badly adapted" but they kept almost everything. I think the voice acting, coloring, animation, and music (episode 23's during the "scene" is so good) all make the extra bit being taken out worthwhile to me. And from what I've seen this is one of the only shounen if not the only that has an entire arc without a single mention or showcase of the protagonists. As a writer, I find that so fascinating as to how it doesn't just work, but thrives in its premise. This arc made the season so much better for me, and I was already enjoying it.

      @@d0decadice He mentioned reading the beginning chapters before watching it so he kind of has. Also, I read the manga section of this and there wasn't really Spinner backstory, it was more of characterization which was actually quite good so it is unfortunate that it was cut. In an ideal world I would have liked all of it to be adapted which, like you mentioned, it might have been without the filler episode happening (even though I like the focus on Uraraka and Tsu). And I do feel like they have an opportunity to lessen the blow. I thought of an idea where they take the first episode of season 6 and instead of having one of their usual leisure fillers (since it definitely wont fit with the season) they could adapt the stuff from MVA they left out. It’s ironic how you can say that Shigaraki is a “Hero” for the villains. Whether that be for every day thugs, criminals, murderers, rapists, thieves who wish to live in a world without rules and embrace their primal desires and then of course, people like the LoV, disenfranchised folks who are products of society’s flaws and then discarded for existing. He wants to destroy the entire world, and in it’s wake, thrive in the anarchy and chaos due to the exponential amount of freedom now gifted to him and his comrades, being able to do whatever they want whenever they want to whoever want without any repercussions or backlash. This is all done so that they can reconcile their issues and find some semblance of peace within themselves.
    Considering that the main theme of this manga/anime is “What defines Heroism, and how far are you willing to achieve that ideal” it makes sense that even the villains think that way as very villain is the hero of their own story.

    Shigaraki's speech to the doctor is one of my favorite moments from the manga. Part of it is the awesome page where it shows all the main characters while he's talking about destroying everything.
    That speech is one of the big reasons why I'll have a hard time accepting any kind of Shigaraki redemption. He straight up says he want to destroy everything and everyone simply because they make him mad. Kind of hard to have a heroic bounce back from that so Deku will have to bust out some serious talk-no-jutsu to pull this off.

Up until this point, Shigaraki and the league have been kind of side villains that are meant to be the main threat, but haven't impacted the story too much. Just like the League & MLA, SA and the Brownshirts both strived for the same goal but since the Brownshirts were considered violent hooligans, SA saw it necessary to purge them as to not soil the Nazi party's brand. Obviously, the situation was more complicated than that but its an interesting little historical-to-fiction correlation.

    it’s not that the arc was poorly adapted, but that it wasn’t treated with proper respect. this is a big event in the manga, it’s the volume cover, and it changes everything moving forward. but in the anime it feels very second class, left for the end of the season, after a bunch of episodes of just catching up with the students. and with a filler episode in the middle, no less lol it really feels like they valued promoting the movie and the lighthearted stuff way more than MVA, and that is a detriment to Horikoshi’s larger story

    You'll hear lots of conflicting opinions on this arc in the anime. Some say it's bad, some say it's good. Overall, it IS good, just not as good as it could have been. I honestly think the only real issue is mainly the cut content, but you've already read the chapters that had the most important parts of the arc skipped. They cut some parts in the later episodes, but they arent as essential to the arc as the parts you already read. If you aren't going to read more, here's some other parts they changed/skipped that I can remember (I'll leave more comments like these):
    They actually showed Giran's fingers, and there was a cool image of them being arranged into the Liberation Army's L hand sign.
    Aftar Shigaraki came back and declared himself as the future king, Gigantomachia said that a king must be able to inspire fear in others.
    Not something they cut, but here's a fact: everything you've seen of Shigaraki's decay in the anime has been a form of censorship. They actually break apart into bloody chunks, not "turn to stone" and just crumble to dust, although they do kind of disintegrate as well if the decay spreads to everything.

    To continue on what else was cut out I’d say there’s a bit left out of Curious’s fight later and some of other small cuts of spinner’s story. Most interesting is exactly who drops off shigaraki in “Tenko Shimura: Origin” manga edition

  • @ajaxaxel7366

    In my opinion, this episode was the worst of MVA in anime. One for eliminating,censoring and changing scenes. Tomura being electrocuted should not release. And they hurried up the fight no context.
    P.S: MVA deserve another new version than that one. Complete,with sense.

    Watching Shigaraki grow over the course of the series has been so refreshing. He's grown a lot as a character and is showing that he's slowly growing into being a capable leader. Shame that some characterization and important content was cut out. Especially considering that the anime had time for two filler episodes, an entire arc being really stretched out, and half an episode being a flashback we'd already seen pretty much. They could've cut any one of those things out and gave the villains an extra episode that covered the cut content but no, instead we get a shaky beginning and cut all of their motivation for this arc. Pretty disappointing start. And all of the Spinner and Redestro fans are rioting.
