This footage never ceases to amaze me
It hasn't ceased to amaze me for the last 7 minutes either
Weird understanding of "never" :D
Because usually that phrase is used when you're referring to something that has amazed you for a long time (years, lifetime?) but this footage had only existed for 7 minutes when he made the comment
Oh really? I don't recall seeing it, and couldn't find it while skimming over the thumbnails again. Mind linking to the timestamp if you remember about when it was?
The clue is in the title of the video, 'Past Missions'. If you want to know the dates of the missions featured, they're in the description :)
Song is "Electronic Fields" by David Goldsmith. Little sad they didn't put a shout out in the description :(
SpaceX has used a few songs from this album too in the past, also welcome to 2019
Oh... My... God... 0:45 that entire scene was the MOST BEAUTIFUL THING I'VE SEEN IN YEARS!!!!!
I can't even... wow...
That was a man made nebula in space with both stages. Awesome stuff.
(it was just steam more or less)
Um no, that's super heated exhaust gases exiting the nozzle at hypersonic velocities.
+Fallout4TheWin plasma. Pretty sure it's gas, which is what nebulas are made of. Not plasma.
Yeah, I edited my comment, I was thinking of something else.
+Fallout4TheWin either way that was some awesome footage!
Awesome footage.
Ullage thrusters. The rocket uses small thrusters to make sure the engines are fed, then the engine lights, and the thrusters stop firing.
The G-force is almost always entirely toward the bottom of the rocket throughout the flight and that G-force actually pulls the liquid from the tanks into the engines once the rocket gets going.
make a video about spacex!
***** I think he means how the engines are fed in the first place, while the rocket is in free fall.
When the rocket fires again for the re-entry burn, and the landing burn, there is athmospheric drag, that make the propellant pushed on the bottom of the tanks. For the boostback burn, I am not sure...
Anyway, small thrusters are generaly used in rockets after stage separation, but I am not sure in this precise case that they are used...
Rocket porn ! Great stuff, you should do more of it !
Explosive ejaculation
+MiningNinjaOctopus I need to add that the protagonists are hot very hot...
+thecrazylooser7 I like the part when it "penetrated" the earths atmosphere.
It was "out" in space and "in" again.
The "rocket thrust" must have been insane.
Just imagine the "G" spo' I mean force it generated.
.... I'll help my self out...
SpaceX and NASA are a complete HOAX!!!
The earth is undeniably FLAT, and covered with a DOME.
There is no outer space, and you have all been deceived.
DO THE RESEARCH. TRY DEBUNKING THE FLAT EARTH WITH AN OPEN MIND.
Ever thought about how the sun rotates? Yehh... if the earth is flat... that would make totally no sense. Seriously.
It's the most basic thing, how in the world can you overlook that?!? Seriously.
Now I dont have anything against the earth is flat ppl that think the earth is flat. But seriously, just use your brain...
Good night

This was such a tease... Now I want to see the full launch and landing!
+
+Soshi METAL My thoughts exactly!
+
Well, that's some hardcore rocket porn right there..XD
Eye of Sauron @0:50
Ha, "Eye of Sauron" was my thought too. Cheers! :-)
Really? I thought that was a fire breathing vagina. Anyways...
True. I just noticed it and I was going to comment it in this way, but you have already done it !
regular eye at 0:45
Came here looking for this comment
It amazes me to see that even when the footage is slowed down, the exhaust gases from the rocket engines are moving extremely fast. You can truly appreciate how powerful these propulsion systems are!
You've got to love rocket engines. Even in high speed footage, the speed of the exhaust looks about the same as real time footage.
The underneath view of the engines in action is mesmerizing
SpaceX
Thank you, Thank you Thank you. We are so grateful that you take the time to produce these wonderful Videos. I haven't been this excited since the Moon landings when I was eleven. I appreciate this stuff more now only because I have a better understanding of the difficulties of Space Flight. Please keep up the great work you are doing. Looking forward to your next Video.
Cheers
Willy
4K or at least HD timelapse/sped up video of booster, seemlessly from taking off leaving then turning around and landing. Please.
I said please :'(
***** I know but it's only in like 240p and the video starts from when it is already in space and starts to turn around and land, still cool though.
Some boobage would be nice too. Thanks.
You know how ridiculously large the memory cards would have to be for that? They usually slap a gopro to the side of the rocket with a low resolution and high FOV for the highest amount of footage
+BoarhideGaming we don't use floppy disks anymore
He said time-lapse, the polar opposite of high-speed/slow-mo. I want to see a full mission from the tracking cameras, or at the very least up to separation and boostback.
They always cut to the boring second stage engine camera right before separation, even on the clearest of days when the Falcon is still perfectly in frame and visible...
Thank you for making this video, i really appreciate the time you took too produce this video.
Terrific shot of the center engine firing during the landing burn! The plume effects for three engines during hypersonic entry burn are also very interesting.
first dislike wins front row seat for raptor test fire
I'm quite sure Jeff Bezos doesn't need your offer to afford that
aaarrhahahahahahahaaa
You have your man
(Not me)
i bet it`s a flatearther arguing why there are no stars in this footage XD
SpaceX team, you're spoiling us.
separation and the quick boost back burn is gorgeous
The is the most awesome rocket footage I have ever seen. I love the shot when the second stage engine is starting and the booster is falling away. I was freaking out the whole video. Good job guys
I keep coming back to this amazing video
that's absolutly amazing, wonderful, thanks for the footage
You have brought the passion back to the US space race. :-)
Very impressive video. Thank you!
Simply stunning ;)
well done that was the best video you guys have made
SpaceX never ceases to amaze! Awesome video.
I love how RP-1 burns... it is so beautiful
I'm always a fan of some good high speed footage 😀
I'm sure everyone is eagerly waiting for more of this, MORE
Thanks guys!!! Now, an idea for next video like this, put a camera on the pad, so we can get footage like the one from Apollo 8 Camera E-8!
I can't get enough of that boost back burn footage.
There is this odd half shock diamond forming a good distance from the engines. It's almost like the exhaust from the surrounding 8 is acting like an extended nozzle for the center engine.
wow, that re-entry burn footage was so good
stage separation looks really pretty
Music: On point
Footage: On point
Mission: On point
I gotta say, SpaceX is kicking ass in the Space industry!
Keep doing what you're doing. You guys will be the ones to help change the world.
Undeniably beautiful.
imagine what SpaceX can do in 10 years!
Mars.
The earth is undeniably FLAT, and covered with a DOME.
There is no outer space, and you have all been deceived.
DO THE RESEARCH. TRY DEBUNKING THE FLAT EARTH WITH AN OPEN MIND.
+EarthIsFlat ItsAFact Flat Earth debunks itself. Flat Earthers debunk themselves every time they hit the post button. Sorry...
Amazing footage!
Beautiful video but very short. WE WANT MORE, PLEASE!!! :-)
Most underrated video on the internet.
That was fun. More please!
Please post more of this! I cant get enough! I think, you guys could make money just releasing those videos ;)
HOLY BALLS THE MUSIC IS AMAZING
beautiful and yet... beautiful.
absolutely beautiful
That last part gave me chills
Aww, no starscape logo at the end. Either way this is absolutely amazing and beautiful. Thank you SpaceX
this is so beautiful!
I can't wait till the behemoth MCT (Mars Colonial Transporter) launches some day...
Humanities first Spaceship Launch....should be the Event of The 21st Century.
Beautiful video
It's almost been 3 years, but I love this clip. Can't wait for starship.
It's amazing to think about how slow these rockets are actually going when you consider that this is high speed footage! Science has come so far, we'll soon be able to make rockets stand completely still!!
it is SHOT at high speed. Don't try to be funny the next time.
High speed footage is slowed downed footage, or slow motion. IT get the named high speed because to slow down video you need take a thousands of pictures, frames, per second. so when you play the video at normal speed,60 FPS, it looks slow because there are a lot more frames then there would be using a normal video camera. Rockets go fast, orbital speed is 40,000KPM, 25,000MPH.
And all those serious reactions. Hahahahaaa :-D
spookje111 you mean one serious reaction, mine lol
*****
that is the equivalent, one mile = 2.2 kilometer. S0 that is right.
This will be strange to understand for some, but this footage is MY generation's version of the classic "Apollo/SaturnV launch" footage that still gives me chills every time I watch it. Just in time for the Olympics, SpaceX, thanks for carrying "The Torch" onwards, literally ;-)
This got me so inspired
Thanks. We want more videos please!
Best slow motion video ever
Dat engine plume interaction. Oh baby baby!
Add some 'inside of the fuel tank' footage!
bruh
They haven't had a LOX camera since the switch to densified LOX. Makes me think that the environment is now too cold for a camera to operate.
They had an inside look on the second stage fuel tank during the JCSAT-14 mission on the technical webcast.
Best video on their channel.
Can't stop watching
Beautiful! :D
3 dislikes
Don't rage quit, Bezos.
wow amazing to see he re-entry burn...
Beautiful!
This needs an update! Eye candy!!
I want to go back in time to the 1960s and show this to NASA and say nothing then leave
Isaiah Schwartz No!!! That will mess with the timeline!!!!
love the shot of those nine Merlin engines
I never expected boostback burns to be that epic
Does the second row seats fold? Really love how well this program is succeeding, and it can land on a postage stamp in the Ocean. Wow.
When I think of the newly invented phrase "artificial nebula", I pause in awe at humanity's progress.
I think this is beautiful
Lovely. Just lovely.

Beautiful shot, really makes you wonder why we can't reuse the first and second stages. I'm sure that I'm not the only one who has thought of this. The cost of having non-reusable parts are staggering in the cost analysis. That brings, of course, the whole design and engineering of fuel, engine type, etc. into focus.
The fuel required to bring a second stage of a Falcon 9 back home would greatly reduce the kinds of payloads they can launch. Falcon 9 just isn't large enough for second stage reuse. However it may be possible on Falcon Heavy and up. They'll get there, but first they need to get first stage reuse going smoothly and launch the Falcon Heavy before they can move on.
Elon said they're going to focus on Falcon Heavy. After that comes BFR/MCT so we may never see second stage recovery. Its just not worth the time and effort to bring back one engine. Maybe... Maybe if one day they switch to a Raptor methalox upper stage then it might be worth it.
Agree on the payload using current technology. If we were able to develop another system like magnetic or some other form of propulsion which may only be on the theoretical drawing board. With the way we are advancing on so many different fronts, it will only be a short time until someone says "why didn't we think of that before ?"
Richard Sommery-Gade The problem is Newton's third law. To move you need to push on something (you fuel after you burn it). That pretty much forces you into the rocket equation, which is the largest issue in rocketry when it comes to getting to futuristic stuff. Right now there simply is no way around it. We'd need to throw out a large chunk of physics as we know it for it to even become a possibility. Odds are we're stuck with rockets as we know it for a pretty long time, however luckily they're actually good enough for anything in the solar system providing we get the cost down. Only if we want to go to the stars do we need such a huge leap. There's plenty in the solar system to explore for now, so I'd actually focus on mastering that before we try to take it to the next level.
knowing how we multi task in different areas, I wouldn't be surprised at something developed somewhere else covering a new approach. All we have to do is look at that platform out to sea for takeoffs and landings. Ingenious to say the least. My bets are on mans rush to glory and profits.
Music: "Electronic Fields" by David Goldsmith & Andrew Britton
I got chills!!
Awesome quick video. It is my dream to work for Space X or NASA! I want to start on an engineering degree, but can't afford to..
Gorgeous footage, is there more footage we could get or download?
THIS IS SO SO SO SO SO... COOOOOOL !!!!!!!!
Amazing!
Love the Eye of Sauron at 0:50
SpaceX "Never cease to amaze the world"
THAT BASS DROP THOUGH!
dang mang, 1-upping the sls high speed footage thing from the other day
Look at that Eye of Sauron when the rocket does the 3 engine burn!
This is what I'm talking about!
More... more... MORE!
Longer too...
The song is Epic Electronica - Electric Fields
gorgeous
Amazing.
Man that's awesome
They need to do more night launches. I live in Florida and can see the launches from my yard. I watched the last one and it was the most amazing thing ever.
Next one on August 14th will be at night.
+Motokid600 I'll be watching.
Kyle Nagata It must be a spectacular view from the outside!
is the massive glowing plume at 0:45 from the first stage boost back or the second stage?
They're likely interacting with each other. The second stage is blowing a hole in the gases.
For those looking for music track: Electronic Fields by David Goldsmith, Andrew Britton
If that isn't the coolest goddamn thing I've ever seen!!!!
Excellence breeds ingenuity!... Anyone happens to know the name of the music piece used? Or the genre?
Music: "Electronic Fields" by David Goldsmith & Andrew Britton
+drewh0208 thanks! That was my ride home music for the evening!
you need to work on better thumbnails. I see no emoticons, no red arrow with circle, and no black guy cringey/surprised in the corner.
you get an F-
Right! And no mention of "one weird trick"!
Go back to your animation!
I know, they've become really disappointing.
What are you doing here? get back to your animations pikapetey, I want to see more weird faces.
yeah, also no "SpaceX launches rocket and you won't believe what happens next"
THANKS SPACEX FOR THE YOU EXIST
this guy has style !!!
Yeah this doesn't deserve any dislikes
