DKDKTV UA-cam channel did an explainer video for this MV, sharing the meaning behind the Korean cultural references that fill the video In America, we say we can see a 'man in the moon', a man's face....But in Korea, they say they see a rabbit ; hence the bunny on the moon This video is clapback to the haters in Korea who claimed BTS would change and become 'westernized' since they were achieving so much international fame...BTS answered back with this video and song, both filled with highlights of Korean idioms and references, saying they love their Korean heritage and would never be ashamed of it or change themselves to try to fit into western standards It's just ridiculous that haters struggle so hard to bring down BTS, even for something as amazing as becoming Korean artists popular outside Korea 🙄
“Blue & Grey” : is a guitar ballad that tells the story an artist’s burn-out. As V explained, blue is universally symbolic of sadness, while grey is a color that RM often references in his songwriting to convey the same, so V was inspired to use them both to describe that feeling. “Blue & Grey” was originally intended to be on V’s mixtape and was entirely in English. The group, however, liked it so much that they decided to work it into the album BE. (Genius Annotation) ============================== "I think with “Blue & Grey” I just wanted the song to let people know how I was feeling, and how we were feeling, at that time a little better. Obviously everyone was having a hard time, but I think I wanted to share those emotions with ARMY as-is, including the pains we went through in our growth process. And, to put it another way, I think I just felt like making it obvious. (laughs) I thought it was okay to be that obvious, seeing as I couldn’t put those feelings into words. I just hope people could understand how I was feeling; it’s okay if it becomes forgotten later on. (-V via Weverse Magazine)"
The Truth Untold, 00:00 (Zero O'Clock), We Are Bulletproof Pt. 2, Answer: Love Yourself, Young Forever, Blue & Grey, House of Cards, Life Goes On, Louder Than Bombs. In other words, look to their b-sides for the less hype songs that really show their vocals. They also did recorded live covers of "Fix You" by Coldplay for MTV in the UK, and "I'll Be Missing You" (Puff Daddy, Faith Evans, and Sting) for BBC Radio 1 (both of these performances took place during the height of the pandemic when nothing truly live was happening). Most of their BTS album solo songs also feature their vocals, especially for the vocal line but also for the rapline. Also, their Japanese songs tend to showcase vocals: Lights, Film Out, Stay Gold.
The choregraphy for this incorporates the traditional African gwara gwara dance. Their suits at the beginning and end feature African inspired designs.
I think Jimin and Suga are the same height, but Jimin is self concious about it so often wears big boots or shoes with a bit of heel. Nice reaction, I think you heard it before without realising.
Idol is how a parody of haters Because they said that taehyung's glasses looked bad on RM, the filters that used a lot of green screen and autotune and that's why in this MV they exploit this, they say hate me if you want but I don't care because i love myself😊😊😊😊😅😅
So the rabbit on the moon is a thing that appears in asian folklore a bit. I can't remember with 100% accuracy what the korean version was but I think there was a rabbit punished for a crime that I can't remember and forced to live on the moon to try and brew a potion (either for immortality or good fortune or both). So I believe the rabbit on the moon is now synonymous with good fortune and longevity
@Joeyjoejo1306 I've never heard this explanation, though it could be correct. I understood that it came from a very old folktale about a god who descended to earth. All the animals wanted to do something to praise the god with a feast, so Monkey picked fruits, Tiger brought meat, Bird brought grain, etc. Rabbit, finding nothing to bring to the god, threw himself onto the fire. The god appreciated this gift above all others, and immortalized Rabbit by placing him in the moon. Giving everything of yourself seems to be a common concept throughout much of Asia
Imagine being a rapper in an award show audience and BTS does this live with lyrics directed at your hate! BTS directs all the hatred into making high quality music, mvs and visuals!
so as an amateur musician, I'll say that the rhythm/beat/pace changes in music is not new, but they do it way better than anyone else. They have levels of complexity in their music, lyrics, instrumentation, production, etc. that is not-typical for sure, which is one reason why so many people love them and their art. This was a bit of a clap back at haters who constantly criticized them - the high use of green screen, the bright colors, a lot of the imagery, etc. There are some explained videos out that that do a good job of explaining all the Korean cultural elements that were poured into this one - why the bunny was in the moon, etc. It is worth a watch. They did a live performance of this at an award show and it was absolutely amazing and even more representative of their culture. Here is a link to it (it has a bit of a pre-performance with solos by 3 members and then the main song): ua-cam.com/video/ayGl-igrwy8/v-deo.html. There is an "explained video" that goes into detail as to what everything in the live performance meant culturally (the video has a bit of an introduction of some of the cultural significance beyond the performance but if you don't have time to watch the whole thing you can skip to 7:10 to get to the performance pieces - you will not need to turn on subs): ua-cam.com/video/TA5X24c2FhI/v-deo.html
This is positive sounding, with a basically positive message. It's still an in-your-face message to haters with words and visuals like the shark (haters) and the dancers protected. They're Korean, the big colorful costumed animals with the crowd are traditional Korean festival entertainment and the rabbit in the moon is a Korean myth. The drawings on the wall are creations of a couple of members symbolizing certain BTS experiences (find the hater).BTS's lyricists are RM, Suga primarily, and Suga produces, primarily. Each of them contributes though, writing songs and some producing, For the most part, their creations come from within.
This video was for the BTS haters who said that they used a lot of green screen, and well they decided to answer that it was really using green screen for them, that's why the video is so crazy
you should watch the explanation video of the MV so many meaningful meaning. The thing about BTS is their mv has no meaningless thing they always have a message in their MV
the beauty of their music is not only in the songs themselves. To really enjoy it you have to look deeper. There are explanatory videos. I would love to see your reaction.
If you are at all interested and the word play and Easter eggs in this video it would be well worth reacting to Idol explained by DKDKTV. He's an English speaking Korean and can fill in a lot of the gaps and point out things that everyone misses on their first watch.
Exactly! RM said something along the lines with: I want to make music that becomes better with every listen. Typical "bangers" are easy to follow but also become boring fast. With BTS it's the other way around, it takes time to learn the rhythm and beat but it's such a better pay off in the end ^^
Well there is always spring day 💜 sad and haunting on many levels. But with that one I would really suggest you at least watch one of the explanation videos as the MV is a story that will break your heart and then remind you that you never walk alone💜💜
Their 'sad' songs only have live performance videos shared by media channels (which tend to get copyright claimed), or just fan-made lyric videos The live performance videos are naturally MUCH better than lyric videos, but you may have to blur the image to avoid a strike ("Blue & Grey" is a prime example since I believe it's an MTV video production of the live; also their epic cover of Coldplay's "Fix You" that started their relationship with the group)...The only exception to this that I know of is "House of Cards", which is really an amazing song
Please do Blue and Grey, Save Me, and I'm Fine, and the queen Spring Day. You want slower/more sad songs, there are a few for ya! Edit to add, I can't believe I forgot to add my favorite: The Truth Untold
You should watch this MV explained sometime, you’ll find a lot of hidden gems and appreciate their work even more ( you might think many stuff got thrown in/mashed up together in the mv but there are actual meaning of them all) 💜
Everything is very purposeful in this and all their MVs you may want to consider watching the explained videos - ua-cam.com/video/IL7PEjk1pys/v-deo.html
There is an explanation video (which includes why the bunny is in the moon) done by a Korean (David Kim) which would be helpful to you. It is only 10 minutes long and I have included the link if you are interested in all of the Korean references in the song. ua-cam.com/video/IL7PEjk1pys/v-deo.html
Korean believes there is a rabbit in the moon, also this video was made as a satire due to all the negativity they get, all there other videos are made with little to none cgi, so they threw everything into this one. Also the tiger is because Korea is shaped like a tiger. The lions dancing are Korean symbol of luck, the chase the bad away
If you want sad songs there is the one with the vocal line: The Truth Untold (ua-cam.com/video/q9yaP4wZ_tI/v-deo.html) . And from the rap line: Outro Tear ( ua-cam.com/video/UDuaJGYe8EQ/v-deo.html). Highly recommended. Saludos de México
This music video seems like full of a random things but don't get it wrong, they have a lot of symbolism in this music video. What can I say, it's BTS afterall. They have an explanation video by XCELESTE n DKDKTV if u are interested 💜 This song is on my favourite BTS songs list. Their Live performances even better
This MV was done purposely. People you say things about cgi and colorful etc etc. so they decided to put it all in one. While basically saying I like myself as I am .
Heeey! If you want a fun song and see their personalities, I recommend their “Attack on bangtan” performance in Japan, it is and will always be my favorite live from them ua-cam.com/video/gP0Vo0U3Yn8/v-deo.html Another person(s) I would love to recommend is/are DPR (Ian and Live) they are SUPER talented and imo underrated
Bts have over 300+ songs as a group and solos as well omg it's incredible 💜 so can't wait for all to react to more live performances as well.

South African* to be a little more precise and the beat incorporates amapiano, a South african genre

bts 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜jekeeeyyy
Fun fact: BTS were performing this song live in award show, and the seats where idols where sitting started to shake...
Blue & Grey is a beautiful but sad song. It’s one of my favorites. Film out and louder than bombs are also greats ones too.
OH MY GOSH Please check out their MMA 2018 Idol performance. That officially made me Army

The voice you liked was tae's voice (or V is his stage name) I'm again recommending you to watch the Taylor guide you're not gonna regret it trust me💜
abt bts having a randomized beat- most/if not all of kpop is like that thats why the music is so addicting for me. Hard by SHINee changes SO MUCH.
The fact that their production their music is so amazing😂
They are songwriter, produces, dancer, ect.❤
You guys should also check out their personalities by Run bts episodes and their behind the scene or live performances...

BTS가 단순히 10대들만 좋아하는 그룹이 아니구나.. 라고 느끼게 한게, '봄날' 뮤직비디오의 해석영상이었죠. 해외팬이 만든 영상이었는데..정말 많이 울었네요.
This has a lot of Korean Culture references, it's sometimes helpful to watch or read the explanation video or article to appreciate some BTS songs.
