This tier list is a good reminder of how many options we have now. It is so easy to miss apps, or not be able to even try some apps due to them being platform specific (apple notes, bear for example). One app I think is overlooked by a lot of people is Drafts. It's a bit of a workhorse and is my main capture app - which I then use as a hub to move relevant notes/to dos/journals in to their respective apps.
You’re absolutely right! This is a four part series and I was still able to miss some. Draft is not an application I have used though! So that will be one I will testing out!
It is just because of the bugs. I have experienced a few and some of them have been while I have recorded videos. I think the app is really good, but it is still a beta applications, so I am a fan! You might be right. I might have underrated it
Nice video indeed. Now that you mentioned that some of these may not be around in a couple of years, I would be interested to hear what you think in terms of potential longevity for these apps. Perhaps, another ranking video where you evaluate how likely these are apps to survive the competition or carve out a niche for themselves in the next couple of years based on their current state of development? It may take some time to do the research into dev teams, progress, community, feature sets, but it would make for an interesting and very unique video.
Woow ! 🤕 As I must stay with a "local only" application to fit with my enterprise 's rules, I want to use a PKM without sending data outside... As I need to get use of my PKM before eventually buying something I refused to pay for it right now. Then: Local, open source and free were my goals. This is why I was using ANYTYPE, and still trying Obsidian and Appflowy ( I can't test much more because it takes so much time😁). I was also in love with the fancy app "CAPACITIES" but I could not use it at work... I was keeping an eye on Constella too, for my personal use... But I didn't know Reflect...(Could be my first choice now, using it without sensible data) 😯 Thank you for this review! That is really helpful. Anyway, at the end we must select the apps with our personal needs but that is still really helpful 👍
I am hoping that it is helpful! These tier lists are mostly for the entertainment and not necessarily for the information. Because it is highly personal what kind of note taking application you like and will choose but I am hoping that my reviews can help with that 😊
I understand that! I don’t necessarily agree. I have no issues with paying as long as the app is good. But I consider that as a privilege since I have the money to burn.
I am a Notion fan BUT for PKM purposes I don't understand how people are using it. In Obsidian it is so easy to connect notes and see the bigger picture and the local graph is super useful. I've tried creating a PKM in Notion but I don't understand how you can learn if connecting notes is so clunky and you can't see visually the connections. That's why I didn't really understand why you put it in the same tier as Obsidian. Maybe I simply don't know how to use Notion as PKM?
I think it is very subjective. I personally don’t like it as much as a pkm system. But a lot of people love the structure of databases. It works great for note taking specially for projects. And I mainly did this video for note taking. I believe that there is a difference between note taking and pkm, but that might just be me. My point is that it is good for note taking, but not pkm. If this was a pkm tier list I don’t think notion is s tier. Tier lists are also a little hard. Because I might think that notion is S tier, but it might not be as good as something like obsidian even though they are on the same tier. I hope that makes a little bit of sense.
@@tafsir5191 Again it is highly subjective, but I do not think of a graph view as visual enough either. In obsidian for me personally it is not about the graph view just being visual it is the idea of seeing how things are connected and being able to connect them. With that being said I am currently using scrintal because I do not think that Obsidian or Notion is visual enough. I hope that makes some sense.
Anything without cross-platform support and an app is B tier or lower. So many apps work great in one place, but can't be used in my workflow because I use Windows, Mac, Android, and iOS 😂
Looking forward to your mem v2 thoughts once its out of beta... or is it alpha? I'm using it now, and think its really really good. Lazy and Mem - D-level, eh? They certainly have some work to do, but, I dunno about 'D'. Gotta be honest, I like Craft plenty, but it does not do as much as Evernote, I don't see how it ranks above it.
I think it is in beta. I am really excited about it! It is such a great idea and I actually think they are starting to figure out what they want to be. So I am really excited about it. I do not know if D tier is right mem. I just thought that it was right because of the experience I had with them. I tried it once again in December and I had a terrible experience. I struggled a bit with headers and bugs with the editor. When it comes to lazy I think it is too unstable to be any higher. At least the experience I had with it. It has been a few months since I tested it though. When it comes to evernote and Craft I think you might be right. I probably should have put evernote in S tier.

@danielpourasg Got to love the algorithm, Missed that this was part 4. Enjoyed the random recommendation though.
I think you have underrated Anyype, I have had no issues in Windows.

That is an amazing idea! I will start working on it and hopefully I will be able to get something out in January
Needs apple notes. Probably the most widely available note system for all Apple users.
Probably should have included it
I will watch this video in a few seconds... But at the end of it I want to see ANYTYPE at the "S tier" position 🧐
😅

i would have logseq in s tier for sure, i probably wouldnt put anything above it where you need to pay a subscription

What makes you think a nice filtered gallery view of notes isn't visual enough? At least for me it does a better job than graph view.

You might be right! 😂 I have some of the same issues 😂😂 so I use extra applications as a work around
What do you think about Kortex ?
It looks interesting! But I think it still needs a little bit of time because right now I believe there are much better options out there.
hey, any thoughts about joplin?
I forgot to include it, but it should be A tier think. It is really good
What about Bear?
Forgot about it! Should have been included
No apple notes?
Should have included it
