    It looks like the lean forward with his feet more closed sets his shoulders in a more closed position. That helps him get the better coil.

    Excellent analysis. Spot on. I'm self taught so on bad days I do tend to have that same problem you pointed out about Sinners old serve of the racket hand going straight up at contact. Those days I feel too cramped to release the racket as that is I believe a shoulder lock position. I'll keep this in mind now at all my sessions at warmup because that's when my body is setting the muscle memory for how it's going to move that day !
    Sinner is a great example of someone who has implemented a lot of technical changes because for a guy that has all of a 110 lb body and no muscle, he hits the ball hardest on the ground game at the moment. Everyone is talking about Alcaraz and understandably because Alcaraz movement, hands, maturity and x factor to produce shots is something we've never seen in a teenager but I believe he escaped last night vs a thunderbolt Cilic who plays at the US open as if he was born and raised on Ash. Alcaraz has a lot of work to do on his serve and last night was a great learning experience for him that his court position of being close to the baseline cannot work against a flat deep hitter like Cilic when he's on. Was just surprised the Juan Carlos didn't coach him to back up until almost the end of the match.
    Thanks for this video 👍

      Thank you. Glad you can relate to his service motion within your own game. Pretty incredible he can generate so much pace from such a "lanky" frame. Looking forward to the quarters at the Open.

    Another difference is that in the footage from US Open 2022, he is bringing his racket up with his strings pointing towards the ground, while in the footage from Indian Wells 2021, his strings are pointing towards the court, which again has to do with a much bigger racket lag at the start of his motion in US Open 2022, compared to his motion in Indian Wells 2021.

    • @zoro251

      Yes, his feet in 2022 tend to be in different ankle compèred to the baseline (they are closer to be parallel to the baseline in 2022 compared to 2021). Is that correct? I recently made that change as well and it helps to toss the ball almost parallel with the baseline (I am a Federer fan) which helps keep the upper body and the hips well coiled. Excellent analysis.

    This is pretty good! Just a little disappointed you left out the very beginning difference for using the wide base. To those that are watching, they may not pick up on it because it wasn’t said., but his feet(toes on both feet are almost parallel to the baseline (meaning he is turn sideways more, prior to serving). I dove into this stance a bit more last year and it increased my serve speed from 118-132mph. The feeling that I get in this stance makes me feel the ground a bit more as leverage than the closer/old school stance. Everything else you said was spot on tho, but that beginning position of the toes pointing is huge

    originally pre 2021 and the switch to a foot back serve he was copying andy murray. This is a copy of roger federer. Stance, posture at the start and swing path are all very similar. its definitely his best version but i do prefer to see players bring their own style

    Why is the offset at contact important? Can you elaborate it a bit more? Thanks

    • @grantdelmege2724
      @grantdelmege2724 Рік тому

      Having an offset contact helps you to pronate more and getting more leverage and racket head speed as you're creating a lever in your arm which helps fenerate more force.

    Yeah, the serve is hard. You 'know' what to do, but can you feel it, fix it when something goes wrong? That's mastery.

    Are the ball speed statistics posted anywhere? I’m also curious how it’s effect his spin and targeting. One thing that bothers me from a visual POV with Sinner’s serve is his 100 sq in racket, can tell there’s a lot of weight in the hoop and I always wondered if the frame’s maneuverability has hurt his serve development, though it definitely benefits his huge groundies.

    • @TennisUnleashed
      @TennisUnleashed Рік тому

      That's a good question. I don't think they are, but Brad Gilbert was mentioning his serve speed differences at the US Open this year during his match against Nakashima in the 3rd round.
