You won't regret it then Raf 022, even with just one oscillator it is already an awesome sounding polyphonic synthesizer if you ask us. Especially because you can use the second oscillator for FM/RM/Destroy/Filtering for example. But when you add the second oscillator and detune it a bit you could be thinking that you are in heaven 🥰 And then the modulations, the filter, the effects, you can consider yourself a lucky guy 🙂 So congratulations on your purchase!
Thank you for stopping by Fey Foxx. Both are very nice machines, but to have 6 voices instead of 4 is already so cool! Don't forget the paraphony mode which will stretch it up to 12 voices! Enjoy your purchase and considering looking at the other minifreak videos we've made. They feature a couple of tips to let you get the most out of it!
I was having second thoughts about the Minifreak (Frog) because I already own a Microfreak. This video touches upon just the right feature set that makes Mini unique. Thanks for the video, explanation and the music!
Thank you for your nice words, for stopping by and that you took some time to watch it. Appreciate it! We got a MicroFreak here as well and the MiniFreak is really different tbh. Both can have their place. Lastly, the Arturia MiniFreak has a lot to offer, so we didn't really stick to 5 things in this video 😃
Thanks Lucas! If you refer to these two demos on soundcloud: soundcloud.com/solidtrax/sets/untold-stories-for-arturia and soundcloud.com/solidtrax/untold-stories-vol2-for-arturia-minifreak or perhaps the ones on UA-cam as well, we can say that some sounds use the onboard arpeggiator, sometimes the onboard sequencer of the MiniFreak, but most of these sounds were recorded in Bitwig Studio and played by us. With a few exceptions, sometimes we editted a midi-clip in Bitwig because of our excellent playing skills 🤦
Absolutely! You can listen to them individually here: soundcloud.com/solidtrax/sets/mini-or-maxi-freak-minifreak or read some of the notes we made during sound design here: solidtrax.nl/arturia-minifreak-review/ where we end up with the same demos.
I know corporations need to constantly deliver new product to survive, but honestly the Microfreak was already so much to take in I don't feel ready for the Minifreak for at least another 5 years. Good video though :)
Thanks! - with regards to the MiniFreak MicroFreak, yeah we can imagine, but also assure you that you won't be dissapointed. In the end everyone needs to decide for themselves what to do. Thanks for stopping by!
You can come pretty close probably. It are 2 oscillators detuned by a fifth, so that's no problem for the XD. But you can't get it to sound exactly the same, since the Korg Minilogue XD has no keyboard source modulation like this MiniFreak. This allows you to create very subtle modulation per parameter per voice which the XD and even the Prologues just can't do unfortunately. In terms of reverb, delay and chorus, you can try to use the onboard FX of the minilogue XD, but you could have a look at the plugins of @sinevibes too. Those will get you into the ballpark. Especally their latest plugins like Luminance, Hollow and Isomer will give you a big smile on your face 🙂
Nice, thanks! Hoping mine eventually arrives later this week!!! ... at least Arturia have dropped their User Manual on their website finally (so I can also read what I'm missing out on 😶... ) 😎👊🎹🎶🍻🇬🇧
it´s a great synth feature-wise but the sound is a bit poor in quality... I guess it´s ok for that price range, but the korg opsix/wavestate/modwave sounds much better and have a lot of synthesis power too
Thanks for stopping by on our channel. Those KORGS are nice synths too, very powerful. In terms of sound, we think it depends where you're looking for and if you feel connected to an instrument. For the KORG's: We would love to get them in the studio too. Especial the OPSIX looks like a really nice take on FM synthesis! Which one do you have of those three? And how are the effects sounding? To point out one difference, the filter of the Arturia MiniFreak is pure analog and the VCA as well, whereas the KORG's are virtual if we recall it correctly.
Sound is always a matter of taste, i guess. But its not poor quality at all. I dont think the korgs sound better. The wavestate is bascally a vst. The opsix is very limited compared to the freak. With the exception of the Minilogue Xd, these other korg synths have poor build quality, made with cheap plastic. The minifreak is built like a tank and sounds fresher and more powerful to my ears, and you get a lot more features and sound range. But they are all different and good synths.
@@joebaf and yes, I know about the Minifreak´s analog filters, but there is a plugin that emulates it really close... I think the bad sound quality is at the oscillator´s stage, maybe the code, maybe the D/As who knows... it sounds bad to my ears anyway
This will be my first synth hardware ever. I'm definitely excited to get it :)

Perfect. No need words. Let the sounds speak.
Thank you so much Nicolas!
Just ordered one of these and this video definitely makes me even more excited to dive in with this thing.
That's a cool present on the way Abraham! Enjoy and glad you find something useful in this video!
Wonderful . Well done. Well done indeed.
Thank you Tommy!
Great stuff, makes me wanna buy this.
Thanks patschdrang! You won't regret it!
Beautiful indeed!
I bought this and quickly had buyers remorse over not going for the minilouge xd... this video completely cured it!

Ahhhhh. I can’t wait for mine to get here.
Thanks for stopping by William. Hopefully it will arrive soon at your doorstep. 😃
Nice sounds! I saw the soundcloud demos and the patches sounds great. It was played by the sequencer?
Thanks Lucas!

@@SolidtraxNL Damn! Those SoundCloud demos! :O
@@laurilest Thank you very much! Glad you like them! All custom presets, hopefully available soon 🙂
Also, FWIW: The audio is what you get right out of the MiniFreak Hardware. So no post processing other than the UA-cam and MPEG.H26* encoders

Klinkt lekker 👍🏻 Aanrader dus? 😃
Absoluut! Er valt nog zoveel meer over te zeggen. Eigenlijk kun je wel van 9 a 20 zaken spreken die echt heel tof zijn aan deze Freak!

good video but a liite hard to follow it while reading the text
Thanks! Indeed, with a press of the space bar you can perhaps some better results by pausing/playing the video. Agree that it is quite fast paced...
This sound has too much pitch modulation; It's awfully detuned and you even don't hear it !
Thank you for stopping by Michael. Which sound do you mean?
