Builds like this with SRMs instead of an MRM are a favourite of my unit. They're fantastic for clean-up and 1v1ing isolated assault mechs, as there's almost nothing they can do if you ram them and leave your weapons running. There aren't many mechs that can deal with it 1v1, we've found.
Oh man, that Thunderbolt in the second match that went down right away was Father Bill. I always kind of feel bad seeing Father Bill get taken out that quick, as it seems to happen often, but he also seems to put himself into bad positions more often than not.
Fun build. I actually tried something like this last night except I have two MRM's instead of the PPC and regular MG's. It was feast or famine with the build for sure. I like the idea of having just one MRM and adding a PPC! Great video!
So funny, I just created a similar build two days ago on the H model, but mine has an small ppc middle, MRM40, 2HMG and 3 mediums on the left arm and a LOT of MRM ammo. I tried 3MGs but it doesn't do much for me, having 3 mediums on the arm is something I like a lot, because of the accuracy, and I can keep MRM-ing and laser-ing from second line and only use MGs in the end-game on open mechs.
95 meters optimum range....that is all you need to know....or at least all I need to know. Tried them for several matches, now they're sitting in my inventory gathering dust.
@Steven HMG´s need to be played really agressively, which is actually why many people don´t use them. If you are like me and just hug your enemies they are great.
While that works great for the HMG player it works horrible for the team, as now your hugging the enemy and may be blocking shots to try and get your MGs to be effective.
Heavy mg Builds work on Bushwhackers great. I use 4 hmg 2 srm6s and 1 ER large laser for some ranged poke If you get in close you do great. You need more mg ammo though.
Yeah I want to love the Hvy MGs, but I find that the damage is just a little bit too low for the cost in weight and range. Maybe up the damage by 0.2 to 0.4 more I think would hit the sweet spot for this weapon. The Light and regular MGs work fine for their own cost in weight and range and I feel they are in a good place overall.
looks tempting, but not optimal yet, i think maybe 2xMRM20 might work better, or even SRMs, and the snubnose is to hot, tho cant realy say if anything else would work better tbh, overall the Wacker is a greaz mech to get close, the shape is ideal to spread damage and it can carry (compared to some other 55t mechs) alot of weapon weight ^^ as ugly as it might be, its a great chassis imo
tbh i would replace the HMG with MG, gives more free tonnage and simply more ammo per ton, allowing you to shoot from further for longer. never really liked hmg.
That Hvy machine gun build didn't work to well for me. Mostly because I get impatient and end up getting myself in trouble. But 1vs1 it's pretty deadly.
HMGs have never seemed worth it to me. You have to close in to get all the potential damage, whereas with the other MGs you can fire as you approach. Unless you're spending the entire match facehugging the enemy, you're essentially losing out on damage.
You can see an aircraft flying toward the position from the angle the strike was called in, a few seconds before it hits - no such aircraft with an artillery strike
I really wish there were two distinct colors for a friendly airstrike and arty strike, and 2 more distinct colors for an enemy airstrike and arty strike.
GrandDracolich If my memory doesn't fool me here then the MG crit boost does apply to all variants , so the damage difference on open components is even greater
So if anyone encounters a player with a name like Dungbeetle or something and Poo something or another be warned they may be who I played with last night. WARNING!! They are team killing jerks and almost ruined a game for me last night. They got reported, intentional team killing is NEVER okay.
Love the comment about your kid's snowman! Enjoy that stuff to the max; those moments move by faster than you expect! -Caboose
came for robot fights. got snowman feels
Hey! I remeber that match. The backoff call was you were face tanking the mech and 3 of us were behind you and couldnt get a shot. Fun match that one.
That was one sad snowman. Ask them to make it into a decal while you are at mech con. Get it before Snuggles gets his rainbow!
^^^This! This a thousand times!
My God in heaven, such a beautiful snowman...Love the build too...!

OMG I LOVE YOUR KID'S SNOWMAN!!!! THAT'S SO ADORABLE!!!
The snow man face was the best part haha

I think the major problem is not the range, it's the range coupled with the amount of face time you have with the enemy.
That Meseeks reference, very subtle Baradul. Loving the vids. 07
Heavy Mg's are held back most by the ammo per tonne you get IMO.

I run them on a piranha sometimes. Block backwards movement and dump rounds into their butts.
BUT the ammo dries up fast.
King crab with 6xHMGs+2xSPLs and 60 MRMs, nuff said.
HMGs only with flamers. I run my X1 with one flamer and 3 SRM6s and it works much better than expected.
My build for that mech was 3 srm 6, snubnose ppc, 4 hmg on a light engine
Quad HMG Ember is a good backstabber. Give that a try.
Heavy mg Builds work on Bushwhackers great. I use 4 hmg 2 srm6s and 1 ER large laser for some ranged poke If you get in close you do great. You need more mg ammo though.
so is the strategy strip with the missiles and crit with the machine guns?
Should I go for sensor upgrades for assault mechs? Do I really need them?

should've made post cards for the patrons of it, to celebrate his art work...

HMGs are probably best for light mechs with good armor.
Irony in the first game, you get wrecked by machineguns 👍
Hmg scat,now that is deadly.
You could go for LPL instead of SnPPC.
Yes you would have to, either downgrade the MRM to 30 or drop the extra heatsink would do.
so it goes DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA instead of pew pew pew...
awesome.... the snowman.. like my little daughter.... kids are great :-)
Make some MLX videos! I’ve got three mains, two with ECM. ECM + 2xMPLs or 2xHMLs, ECM + 1MPL + 4xLMGs, and then 8xLMGs + 2xMiPLs.
tbh i would replace the HMG with MG, gives more free tonnage and simply more ammo per ton, allowing you to shoot from further for longer. never really liked hmg.
not sure how you are making them ignore you when you are right in their face, but every time i try that i die in like three seconds
That Hvy machine gun build didn't work to well for me. Mostly because I get impatient and end up getting myself in trouble. But 1vs1 it's pretty deadly.
Try hmg mist lynx

Can someone tell me when MechCon-Twitchstream starts in CET? thx
Is there a way to tell the two different “strike” consumables apart by their smoke?
No, there isn't unfortunately.
ask in chat rq "hey buddy. is that an airstrike or arty?"
Can't wait to upgrade my potato rig so I can actually play lol
HMG work much better against light and mediums not so much heavies. At least not when they are fresh.
Yeah the heavy mg seemed a bit underwhelming and you have no range whatsoever...wont soon be using them now that i have seen this.
Random comment for channel interaction.
fight 2 twitch fight! Bara vs FB
Left a like for your son's picture :)
I dont see point in going HMG when we can have LMG
muuuuch more damage. I generally prefer HMG´s over LMG´s
Not that much more... not to mention effective range.
literally twice as much tho
I did the math a while ago. When regular machine guns crit, they do /almost/ as much damage as HMGs do regularly.
GrandDracolich If my memory doesn't fool me here then the MG crit boost does apply to all variants , so the damage difference on open components is even greater
1000 damage was not from the machine guns, though I'm sure it helped. You were firing an mrm-40 at point bank range. That is 120 damage each time.
I think you are thinking of ATMs. MRM40s do 40 damage.
Still, 40 damage is nothing to sneeze at.
I know where you'll be soon :D
