I understand most of many of you are not able to update. To update, you must insert the SIM with internet connectivity. As it is 3G configured, it won't work with 4G network. After you are able to access internet from dongle (Not From other sources), then check for updates. Hope you find this useful.
It depends on your area and network availability. I believe, network providers will discontinue 3G services in the future. Airtel has already started stopping the 3G service. My suggestion for you to go with 4G data cards / dongle.

Balance stays in your sim card. Resetting dongle does not affect your sim. It only resets to default factory setting of dongle.

Yes it will work if network is available. I tested using Airtel 4G SIM. Since in my area there is no 3g network, it was working on 2g.

This dongle is configured to support only 3G network. Jio is 4G network. It doesn't support.
