    I love your design. and since I'm an interiordesigner and minimalist at heart your furniture are perfect for my style. it's hard to find unique minimal pieces and I'm from Jamaica and the culture here is very different. you inspired me and I'm happy you are doing this for people like me and others. thank you.

      Parez Morris I'm Jamaican also. I'm making my own furniture because everything that I like is super expensive and I don't want my home to look like the traditional Jamaican home.......aka pack every inch with huge, bulky furniture...still holding onto the old European way.

    Using plywood to make plywood. :) I love it! Great design. I bet it is both super heavy and super sturdy.

    Really love the idea of plywood beams!! Since plywood is so flat and you used your super nice saw blade there is no need for a planner or router making this accessable to so many people :) Also plans look great!!

    I had such a visceral to your work up until recently, I thought your scale was too small and your materials too simple. I still watched every video. It was great to hear about your background from the podcast and how you determined your materials you use in your projects. Thanks!

    I like a larger seat space, and a shorter back in my modern style, but I really like your use of plywood "stacks." Cool!

    Great design, and I love that the plywood construction makes this more "doable" for people without a lot of professional equipment or a real workroom. And it would probably be easy to make a similar design that can be converted into a guest bed.

    this is a really good method, we get bamboo delivers and to protect it the company sandwiches them between chip board, i often rip strips of it and glue it up to make work shop cabinets and doors, really strong and looks cool, nice one dude

    Hi Ben, I found your videos a couple of years ago and have fallen in love with the idea of making my own furniture. But I have no idea where to start. What tools should I buy first? What projects should I start out with to help teach me the basics? Could you possibly do a video about where to start from nothing? Thank you for your videos.

      Joe basement woodworking that's what I thought, too! It almost screams convertable...I'm sure it could easily be done - the plywood construction let's you play around with the design at will, after all. It's almost like building a lego bedcouch ☺

  • @colin72

    I've seen a lot of videos of people making sofas. Many, like this one, look good and would probably be comfortable sitting on for short periods. But has anyone ever been able to make one that you could actually use to replace a nice comfortable sofa? My sofa was over $1,000. The cushions have some kind of spring system. I can lay down and easily get a good nights' sleep on it. These DIY sofas have very little padding and remind me more of a Walmart futon.
    I don't know how you would do it... can you buy really nice cushions?... but has anyone seen a really nice DIY sofa video?

    • @BellmanWoodworkingAndDesigns
      @BellmanWoodworkingAndDesigns 7 років тому

      Colin Green you could always buy the large outdoor furniture cushions from lowes or Home Depot. They are super thick, would last longer, And might be more comfy.

    • @colin72
      @colin72 7 років тому

      Yeah, that might be better. I just thought I'd put the question out there because I thought surely I'm not the only one who sees these sofas and thinks I wouldn't want it in my home to lay down on and watch TV.
