    Update: Looks like I was wrong about our 2minute buff being able to be cast out of combat. This would put this ability after the first GCD of our opener, and we'll do a -2 second Pre-pot.
    Planning on making a short that dives into VIper's fang gauge and the different combos, and then draft out a 2minute looping rotation at 2.1 GCD here shortly.

    YOOOOO This video is EXCELLENT! Amazing spot about the 20 second buff duration. Really really well done, solid editing, solid audio. It's a crime this video doesn't have more views. One questions that's been circling around in my head recently is "how many reawakens does the job actually get per 2 minute rotation. If you can store up to 100 gauge, and their 2 minute cooldown gives you an extra usage, could you not just save and spam three Reawakens back to back to back during burst window?" However, if a reawaken takes 8-10 seconds to complete, it means that you cant fit three usages in, encourage you to spend some during non raid windows. Great job!

      Thanks for your kind words! I think a Triple Reawaken has its neiche uses, especially in Ultimate fights where you can move burst timings around, and would be a really potent pot window if you could manage it. Even a bit stronger if youre paired with a Summoner.
      I bet there's some tech you could do that could fit 3 "Blue-munnios" into buffs, but that would definitely have to be spreadsheeted.
      Lots of potential to do some cool things with this job!

    Damn this is the best Viper video I’ve seen so far, I feel like I’m actually starting to understand how the rotation and opener will play out. I’ve never had a job where I needed to get my hands on it as bad as this, I’m excited and I just can’t wait to see how it feels.

    Really solid video!! I'm excited to see how buff and rotation timings shape out once we have potencies, but everything you say here seems like it should be correct regardless. I certainly hope so, because this job's shaping up to be exactly what I'm looking for, a fluid job with high weaving potential.
    What I think i'm most interested in is how the staff blade combo gets spliced in, assuming it's not used during the even minute window and that it's higher pot than the 123 (or whatever it'll end up being called) combo, and that both are used during the opener, i think the usage routing will go like this?:
    I've labeled them A and B just to keep track of the 2 timers, hopefully it makes sense?
    A and B used during the opener
    40s pass, A is back up B timer starts
    a is used during the 1 minute burst
    20s pass, B is back up, A timer starts
    B is used within the next 40 seconds en lieu of a filler combo to refresh the buff
    40s pass, A is back up and is used to start the 2 minute burst. B timer starts
    rinse repeat?
    please correct me if i'm wrong though! i'm famously bad at counting this sort of thing, but it seems like it sorta resembles mudra timings? Save for the fact that you dont need to use one before every burst, and that you dont want to use any during your 2 minute.

      Very clear to understand! And yeah I think it will end up being along these lines. The potency of the staff blade combo is almost for sure going to be higher compared to its dual-blade counterpart, so we'd want to keep it on cooldown as often as possible. Our job, then, will be to plan out red gem usages so that we can keep it on cooldown without overcapping.
      My biggest question mark is around those gems - will we need to spend one each rotation cycle on a ranged attack for rotational alignment? What else can we spend them on? I'm hoping we get some sort of Dismantle (MCH) effect for some party mit, and we'll probably get a personal mit that consumes it as well. Dunno yet

      @@VerraXIV it'll be interesting to see for sure! I'm hoping it's a bit of a reverse addersgall, and since we're yet to see what vipers personal mit looks like, your call on it being used for that makes sense.
      I'm just hoping that the damage option it's used for is lower potency than the melee buttons, while still being higher than the ranged filler gcd, so that we don't run into the scholar problem of having all sorts of fun buttons that are inoptimal to use.
      if that is the case though, it'll be neat to see how overcap is managed, makes me wonder if there'll be some random low cooldown ogcd that we can use to spend it without blowing defensive cooldowns, or if that won't be the case and we'll be encouraged to be proactive about them because of that.

    Interesting thoughts. Definitely did not catch the 20s Div/BV change.
    One question I had regarding your theory crafting is the Barrel Stabilizer/Plentiful Harvest (the Awakening + red gem oGCD).I didn't see anywhere else where people said it could be used out of combat, but with the saber combo oGCD combos I don't see much option either, besides maybe a starting a 2nd twinblade combo after the first and using it then before finishing.
    Great video again, looking forward to getting my hands on it and NIN a gear buddy

      I misspoke about being able to use it out of combat - rewatched the gameplay vod and it's grayed out when YoshiP was out of combat. This would put it on the first oGCD weave slot after the staff blade combo starter in the opener

    Would be nice if Viper had a Mug debuff but instead increase Crit chance and damage by 10% a mix of Sch and Nin's 2min debuff

      That would make it the strongest group buff in the game bar none and absolutely insane in alliance raids, it would be more than twice as strong as Mug.
      Personally I like that Viper is selfish, it gives it a niche in the scouting role compared to Ninja, and fits the power fantasy of the lone wolf dual swordsman. It also fits the scouting role and class fantasy, as vipers and snakes in general are not pack hunters, and scouts typically work alone. Ninjas, in popular culture at least (Naruto) and in Final Fantasy 14 broadly, work with a team instead of doing solo missions, so it makes sense for them to be a bit more supportive. Plus, we frankly needed more selfish dps.

      @Bravadorado depends on the composition. In most cases Sage is easiest progression shield healer, and mostly ninja aren't as used in early progression due to its gear dependency. But we'll see how it goes

    The death design seems so random when it already has a dmg up buff. Like they didnt know what else to put.

      I agree. I think it would've been more thematic to make it a poison/venom dot instead and it would keep the same gameplay loop. I think that's been the largest criticism of the job, and there's still have some time before launch to make changes so maybe hopium.

      @VerraXIV that being said, I'm leveling it 1st thing and doing story with it, lol.
      It's animations are what I was hoping Samurai would have fast kinetic swordplay, but they went precise authentic Samurai style.

    Nice video, the only sad part about the job is its name, its called Viper but and doesn't have anything related to a viper or snake class fantasy. Looks very poor and lack some love compared to Picto.

      Yeeah I can agree. I'm holding out hope the job story quests get the class fantasy going and we get some lore

    I can't wait for this class to be sorted into a one button rotation with sloth plugin so I can look uber cool!
