Greetings and thank you so very, very much! After removing the old mixet cartridge, I tried to place the new mixet cartridge inside but it would not fit. I said something is wrong but what is it? I looked inside and part of the old mixet cartridge was still intact. I got a tool that I thought would twist it all the way out but it did not. it ended up getting stuck again. so glad for your you tube channel. Now I know what to do. God Bless you in Jesus Christ Mighty Name.
Guess I been lucky mine have came out fairly easy done aroud 3 jobs with these over the last year or so . dont really like messing with them wound up replaceing valves on a few of them. Good to see you putting up videos ! have a happy holiday Merry Christmas!
These are one of the easier more straightforward valves to replace but The day I shot this video I had done 6 of these and 3 of the 6 would not come out, the back half was stuck in the valve on 2 of them. I also have had a few calls over the years where customers had tried to change the cartridge and got the back piece stuck so i just figured it would be a cool video more of a niche video for those rare occasions but im sure somebody at some point will benefit from it and be glad theres a video showing you how to remove it rather easily. Good to see you in the comments Jeff! Merry Christmas and Happy new year!! Im trying to get some videos edited and posted, my dang go pro is recording video that studders unfortunately so Ive got a bunch of videos that are worthless now.
thanks for the tip on CLR, in my case, i couldn't even unscrew the housing that holds in the cartridge, but CLR losened it up enough to get it off.. the part was ruined, but at least i was able to get it apart
Awesome video, I watched another video of yours to replace my mixit valve. Mine kicked my butt and I wish I saw the CLR trick first cause it took me about 20 minutes to get the old cartridge out. I wiggled it back and forth and didn’t want to pull to hard so it took forever. I have one more to do and I’ll definitely use the CLR trick if I get any resistance
Use PB blaster, that should loosen the corrosion that’s fused it together if that doesn’t work, you’ll have to cut it on two sides to get the sleeve off
would torching work as well. I pulled my mixet valve out and the ceramic backing is stuck in the pipe. It's just the white ceramic part that got stuck from calcium and gunk. It wouldn't budge with a puller I made. Was thinking of heating it with a torch or using clr? Does this method work if the ceramic part is the only part left in the pipe, not the brass?
Hey. I used one of your older videos to replace my cartridge and all was okay (not perfect but okay) until my husband took a shower tonight and the water was coming out the center of the cartridge when we tried to turn the water off. Not a ton but enough. I thought maybe I hadn't tightened the metal covering the cartridge (not sure what that's called maybe the sleeve?) So Itightened that a little more but it's still leaking. I'm really hoping you see this and can offer some advice. Thank you!
Ive actually had this same problem twice over the last year, I think its something to do with defective O rings on the cartridge... Both times i noticed the O ring toward the back of the cartridge(by back i mean the end that enters the valve first) was damaged, One of my customers told me they spun the handle all the way around and I guess that could of somehow damaged the O ring but it really shouldnt specially if you greased the O ring before installing it and made sure there was no buildup inside the valve body that could of damaged the O ring. The way to fix it is either replace that O ring or replace the entire cartridge again either way you will have to remove the cartridge so i recommend just replacing the cartridge instead of trying to find the right size O ring etc. Sorry this happened to you... Let me know if youve got any other questions you can also email me OCMaverickplumbing@gmail.com

I'll Def learned from the majority of this something new
I have a wolverine brass. The chrome sleeve won't budge. What can I do to remove chrone sleeve
Use PB blaster, that should loosen the corrosion that’s fused it together if that doesn’t work, you’ll have to cut it on two sides to get the sleeve off
I’m having the same issue but now the nut is stripped should I just cut it at this point?

good trick if they are stuck btw
Thanks Jeff!

Tried your trick but couldn't pull it out. Any other ideas? Plumber wants to cut through wall and cut the pipe
