Fellow Red Wattle grower! Incredible breed all around. We are on year 3 and couldn’t be happier with the docile nature of this breed , the mommas are great, and the amazing product they give!
Just ran across your platform I personally didn't know that particular Breed of pig. You say you like the thamperment of the breed may I ask what weight to butcher and do you skinned of take the hair off using water
They were a new breed to us as well. I heard they originated in East Texas which piqued my interest since that’s where I live. Once we started raising them I learned they are easy to work with, very docile and easy for them to become my pets if I’m not careful, lol. The meat has wonderful marbling at 300 lbs and only gets better the longer you let them grow. I love the Red Wattle breed!
It is definitely not an easy task at all and took us a lot of time to work up to finally being able to do it. I understand it’s not for everybody though. We figured if we are going to eat pork, the only way we know for sure they had a good life is to raise them ourselves.

@@HenbitHomestead I agree. I have a hard time eating any meat now unless I’ve raised it ❤
