the amount of information you can find on the internet about stuff normal people shouldn't know is amazing. I could right now get myself a drop key and open an elevator door and potentially get myself or others hurt or killed. Of course, I have no intention to do so but information like this should not be publicly available for safety reasons
The only ONLY reason non qualified personnel should be removing people from elevators is when there is a medical emergency or when there is a serious risk to life. Every time a non qualified person steps beyond their expertise they introduce risk of loss of life or serious injury! Call the professionals….we don’t have lights and sirens but we will be on scene and have you out of the elevator most times in under an hour!
Thanks. This is very helpful. The facility maintenance department I work for does its own in-house elevator rescue. This video has been extremely helpful
I was stuck in a stalled elevator yesterday for about 30 minutes for the first time in life. Elevators have always been my fear. The fear of feeling trapped. But thankfully I had my phone and it had service and I had to call 911 for a rescue because the buttons wouldn’t work.
8:02 WRONG. MRLs can be either traction or hydraulic. They are not a separate category. Also Traction in hydraulic machine rooms can be located in different places. A lot of elevators actually have the traction machine in the basement.
At around 19:40 they say make sure you use eye protection then proceed to show a slide of a fireman looking up the elevator shaft without eye protection. I know it's probably a stock photo. 😆 That would be a good audience participation question in a live presentation. Something like "What's this guy doing wrong?"
My brother is a maintenance guy for a hospital in Galveston that assists mostly children & today a family was caught between floors 2-3 & the fire Marshall & fire department left bcz they said they don't do rescues in between floors so call the elevator company!!!!
There was a child burn victim & my brother grabbed the young boy bcz his father wanted the kid to be saved so he hoisted him up between the floors...the maintenance people had to figure out how to bypass the elevator system. I'm in disbelief the fire department left them to fend for themselves!!! This could have been a bad situation for everyone!
Way to pull the disconnect without using proper caution from ARC flash. No PPE, no arc flash gear, didn’t stand to the side, didn’t exhale as he pulled the disconnect! Stupid is as stupid does!
You should not be putting some of this information online. As an elevator mechanic you are seriously jeopardizing people’s safety by doing it. Teaching people how to unlock our doors is not ok
Why are you teaching the public how to open elevator doors? Every fire person I’ve assisted get people out of elevators that absolutely have no clue what they are doing.
I applaud Aurora Fire Rescue on these excellent training videos !! Thank You!!! 🙏🇺🇸

If you are not a qualified elevator person. Do not reset the elevator. ALOT of things could go wrong!
