Thank you for this. I'm about to finish my first year of OT school and I'm definitely interested in becoming a hand therapist from my time shadowing at a hand therapy clinic. I understand that the journey will be super challenging and I'll be learning continuously, and that's something I look forward to!
Hello! I am a current pediatric therapist, wanting to make the change to orthopedics for hand therapy. What would you suggest my next steps be? Course recommendations?
Thank you for watching, C Huff, I would recommend our Foundations of Hand Therapy course. handtherapysecrets.com/foundations-of-hand-therapy/ The best way to move from one setting to another is to get a job in that setting. In order to get the job, you have to show up knowledgeable that you can do the job. Courses, especially beginner ones like FOHT give you that basic know-how so that you can show up more confident. Below is another great resource as well to getting that job :) handtherapysecrets.com/how-to-get-a-job-in-hand-therapy/ Hope that helps.
Hey Jesse. No rotation hours and volunteer hours do not count towards the total hours to become a CHT. You must be a licensed therapist while accruing those hours in order to qualify to sit for the exam.
