    I'm impressed that the cutters can go through heavily reinforced concrete, rebar and all. I refrain from comparisons with other systems as I do not know the figures for cost x productivity x maintenance.

    at around 18:00, I am completely convinced that a 1m-2m wide hydraulic chisel working downward would save lots of time and money. The mining portions of this video look like "complicated solutions to simple problems". I guess you have your reasons.

    It seems from your reply to an enquiry as to how hard a 'rock' it can cut through, drilling and blasting has to be an option. On the "hardest" it can manage I wonder how long the 'arms' of some excavators can last before crack/fracturing against the extra vibration it causes the machine.

    At the first machine do not use a single disc, but a 5/6 discs on an internal hydraulic shaft to separate the discs at the right cutting distance, to speed up the whole operation.
    The excavator's knife E Corto in relation to the depth of the cut Made first with a disco, try with a double blade (longer) a scissor a cut the pieces in the rock cut.

    Might work well in concrete situations but in high wall mining of a rock face a vibrating pick will out produce this by 200-300%...not very efficient and you need two attachments to get the rock off of the wall.

      One thing is that so many years in the demo
      I learned that the excavator at the degree thoise operators use the tilt bucket at the fully back position with the ripper does not have the most energy directed at the material that their dealing with; the ripper has the most force pointing straight down not horizontally like they’re doing it. In my humbled opinion most do not show a good operator experience. You can see the difference of the ripper positioning at 24:00 how well it broke the hole section of the cut in a single jank quite easily.

      But i worked a few years ago in a company that used an ultra high pressure washer which did an exelent job,, but you needed a heavy strong man to hold the hose.
      450 horsepower kicks even if pusd thru a 1,6 mm nozzle but cuts say 4 inch steel like a hot knife in butter.
      if we cut more than 4 inches we added fine chemical sand to the water, but then we had to change nozzle a few times a day, becouse even the ultra strong nozzle, tungsten carbide evetually was worn out.

    wouldnt those huge concrete cutting pincer things on an excavator cut up reinforced concrete faster than this and with zero vibration? That wheel is sure going to create some vibration while its spinning? Wiill the wheel break through rebar without snagging up?

    • @KEMROC
      @KEMROC  4 роки тому

      I believe you speak about demolition shears, shears crush the concrete in to small pieces, the main idea of the wheel is to cut the slaps into big blocks and remove them out of the site, this is definitely much faster than shears.
      Vibration will be there with all sorts of hydraulic attachments, its level varies from one tool to another, for example hydraulic breaker works at a much higher vibration level.
      DMW 220 HD for example can break through 32 mm dia rebar without any problem.

  • @CuriousEarthMan

    On the mining deposits, have you ever tried turning the wheel to a horizontal position, then slitting the face horizontally? I bet you could go further distances between grooves, travel faster along a sedimentary layer and gravity would help with the rock layers falling if you had to break the face with a hook. Have you ever tried? On the concrete demolition, aren't diamond wire saws more efficient for cutting combined materials, and taking less of a kerf cut? Thanks for posting this, it is impressive, but mostly because it makes everybody wonder if you are doing it efficiently...makes you wonder too, doesn't it?

    • @disklamer
      @disklamer Рік тому

      Horizontal cutting carries some potentiality for nuisances and awkwardness, like getting your machine stuck in the groove while the cliffside is collapsing above the cut.
      Also excavators are optimized for applying vertical forces with the help of gravity, and are not as effective at applying force in the horizontal plane.

Where there are plains, once there were mountains - where there were those pegs holding things fast, rain and winds undid them all and the heights lapsed spreading out far and wide and the mighty rivers bore it all into the seas and when they too dried up they in turn were once more lifted high above again and the gods and kings and shepherds wondered as always in their awe.

    for a large commercial production application this is not very efficient . If you had a 30' diameter cutting wheel that would let you have a 14' deep cut in the rock. Then the pick could be wider with hydraulic pins for lateral force to break the rock out or a vibrating larger pick would be more productive. But it would be more effective with skilled operators.

      Hello Don, In this case we used the cutting wheel because it was not allowed to blast. A combination of 1 cutting wheel and 1 breaker performs as 3 to 4 breakers in regards to productivity. Using the wheel to cut slots in the rock weakens the rock and makes the breaker productivitz afterwards much more effective than breaker alone. Regards

The shots working in the mines/quarries that already had fractured rock seems counterproductive - a breaker would be more efficient, but surely drill/blast is faster/cheaper? What a GREAT way to completely beat a machine to death, and ruin a half million dollar piece of equipment!!! Just because you can build something to fit an excavator, doesn't mean it is good, or smart. Complete JUNK.

      Yes, drill and blast is the first choice if allowed. However, this is not always the case.

    Seems like a waste of time and money. Blasting is quicker and more efficient.

      It's for areas where drill & blast isn't an option.

      Bjørn, I will blast those lost left socks from under your bed so quickly and with less dust than that old vacuum - Alfred Bernhard Nobel would be proud - though it may wake you because, though precision, I start my work early.
