*I do not sell assembled carts, and do not ask me to assemble them for you. You will need to buy the parts and solder them yourself.*
Please read the entire Github repo for the board you want to make before beginning this project.

This is incredible. I can't even comprehend the amount of work and skill involved in developing this. 32:30 The donated chip seems to have caused a minor haunting but that seems like you can work around it.
I hadn't seen a hot plate used for soldering like this before and now I absolutely need one. Looks like it'll be much quicker than a heat gun or doing 50 components with a soldering iron.
This is so cool, nice work man!
The best mouse is a bucket mouse. Love your work 👍
This is really cool, I only just changed a GB cart battery. I have many mods I wish to do in the future this is totally on the list now.
from what ive learned a broad solder iron tip holds heat more. making it better for dragging. a thin tip has its own use i just know it.
I want the Oracle cart!
Are you considering making a GBA version?
I like having a flashable cart like this where i can flash what i want on and it feels genuine.
I hope you do make one as i'd love a flashable or multi cart for gba
Great job! Now I have to dust my GBC!
The cat hair is too real.
It keeps me giving error. But!!!!! I did got it to write a rom successfully one time. But when I go load up the cartridge on my GBC, it'll boot pass the logo screen then it switched into a white screen like it'll load up the game but it just stays white!!!
Is that a SRAM or EPROM issue?
I tripled and quadruple checked all the soldering joints. No soldered balls. Nothing. I'm on my 2nd EPROM.
NVM. I re-applied the solder paste and heat up the PCB again to reseat and re-flow the EPROM. It worked now. I still get some errors here and there, but I believe it's from using certain USB ports. So move around on some of your guy's USB port when using the GBxCart RW plugged into your PC/Laptop. Finally, got my cartridege working with one save data!
Don't work for me! I have Pokemon Crystal 2mb and a flashcard 4MB! When I write Pokemon Crystal on the flashcard, 78% of the time I get an error message that the file cannot be written completely
Maybe a dead chip or a solder bridge somewhere, heck even a bad connection could be an issue
Yes, I also found out about the switch after I received a pack of 20 from Mouser🤣
Regarding catching legends will there be any problem? Or Will you get 2 legend of each.
I'm not sure exactly (I haven't gotten that far in my current playthrough) but I would suspect there's a flag in the RAM indicating whether or not a legendary has been encountered/caught, so you probably have to pick. Not positive though
@@bucket_mouse LOL, if you play gold and save before fight Ho-oh and switch to silver you will be fight a lvl 70 Ho-oh instead of a lvl 40.. Same goes to Lugia in silver. You can both have lvl 70 legends.
@@angrybearclipsonly issue with that is neither legend will have their signature move. To have their signature move, you want to catch the lvl 40 versions of the legendaries.
Can I buy a set of the PCbites spacers off you? I dont have a 3D printer.
if i only had a hot air station, as opposed to the hot plate shown in the video, would you still recommend using solder paste to apply the components (with hot air) or just careful iron work?
I used hot air and paste for a long time before I had a hot plate. So it's definitely doable
Wow
Great video. I hope you get to make some more.
I wonder how would this go with T3 solder paste?
Knew a little too much about that Mary Kate and Ashley gameplay 🤔🤔😂😂
😅
That's so cool!
It would be really cool if you could make it so both games stay powered and had link cable compatibility built in for gold/silver/crystal
That way you could play both and trade between versions.
that is impossible, the cpu can't run both at the same time. sadly.
This is awesome!
do all games act like normal with the link cable ? this seems really awesome.
Yep!
your voice sounds like the one from forest lee, a youtuber in bangkok
very pretty pcbs!
Too bad there isnt a version witg three slots so you vould have the whole gen 2 trilogy
13:18 Where can we get the board holder, the one with yellow circle?
They are called PCBite
@@romarioflores8006they are expensive
Ah and it looks like the spacers are 3d printed to get it to the right height for the hotplate. It's fairly clear at 12:52.
most likely you dont need exact same spacer. You can just put something that you have at home. In this case you only need one spacer
@@SebastijanStanivuk I realized regular ball 608 bearings probably would also work really well as spacers since the magnetism should get through them, unlike plastic 3d printed ones.
That said the hotplate I was looking at was both a little shorter and a bit bigger for surface area, though this one looks a bit nicer overall.
why would anybody use this multi cart, why wouldn't you just use everdrive or 2 separate original cartridges?
Some people (like me) like to collect individual carts for games, and have fun custom labels and shells to pair with it. Some people (like me) also just like to have fun making something different and interesting :)
Hobbies don't need to be optimized.
Also for Pokemon Gold/Silver specifically, you can share save data across the two versions, which this boards facilitates. In the video I show how you can play both versions and switch between them while retaining the same save data, so you can effectively play both games at the same time.
Or, if you wanted to, you could make this a single Pokemon Gold cartridge, but use the multicart function to save two separate save files, instead of having to own two Pokemon Gold cartridges.
because it's fun?
Because things are just more fun that way, and with pokemon that's huge so version variety doesn't mess with your collection in game
There's also a case to be made for battery life. Typically, carts that have roms stored to flash that aren't being rewritten when you select a game are more energy efficient and therefore will give you more playtime on a single battery/charge. This would be a good way to carry multiple games with you without sacrificing that.
Man I really want a Gameboy pocket color. Your color scheme is awesome Mouse! What shell is that? Is your screen laminated, it looks like there is literally no space between the LCD glass lens!
Also i want to practice, but what are the MBC1 boards specifically used to make? Could I make Pokémon rom hacks out of them?
Thanks! The MGBC has a laminated CGS screen, and uses two separate colors of CGS shells.
Check the MBC1 github, there's a link to a website where you can search games by their mappers
@@bucket_mouse Which laminated screen from CGS uses pocket glass lenses with a color screen?
This would be good for putting Dragon Warrior 3 and Dragon Warrior Monsters 2 on the same cart.
Oh wait. That might not work. Mappers.
