I managed to get Gepard from the Beginner Banner, and he's been carrying my ass even to this day. I didn't pull for any of the premium healers/Preservation units, so he ends up having to solo sustain one half of my endgame teams. There's some luck involved in ensuring his Shields stay online compared to Aventurine's effortless shielding, but I can't deny that the guy can pull his weight well enough, even in the present day.
Use Landau’s Choice on him and use Energy Regen rope, and you wouldn’t have to worry about his Shield’s output consistency. At least that’s what I did, but I think his inherent kit alone is enough to make the enemy hit Gepard, but like you said, sometimes luck isn’t on our side.
@@mediumsurmoon6283I changed Landau’s Choice to March’s LC bec I find the taunt in that LC a scam. My Harmony units are still getting targeted a lot even with that LC which is so frustrating.
A lot of old characters needs the Dan Heng/March treatment, a rework disguised as a stab or training arc or even a change of path. Since Reworked Tingyun is coming (with 9 tails) having hope for the oldies is not a bad option. (Rooting for Yanqing and Arlan)

This is a very extreme case of being powercrept by another unit. Gepard needs his ult to put a shield on the team, here comes Aventurine saying "nah, i'd use one sp to shield the team whenever you want dude"
@@ClassicGoodGames not just that, aventurine shield has EFFECT RES, which is something gepard shield does not have. sure its just around 50% but its better than no effect res at all
not even. Aven has automatic shields at start of battle, and not the paltry coating that Gepard puts down with his technique. And if you have his E1, its possible that he'll never have to skill at all as he can fully refresh his shields with ult and partly with follow up. he is truly the ultimate Gepard power creep in every sense of the word.
@@lillyie my luocha has carried me through half of the game since i got him and is the perfect definition of "healer", because he just heals and cleanses debuffs very easily. Aventurine is like "oh, i dont heal but i make allies basically untouchable and also have a fua". I'll try pulling for him when he reruns, because with 2/3 limited sustainers i feel you don't need anymore.

I remember when Luocha was hands down the best character in the game. At the time he basically made your team immortal (1-shot enemies didn't exist back then) and was fully SP positive.
Before MOC12 the Sanctus Medicus guy with the spear did exist, but with enemies getting more damage but characters still remaining capped at lvl 80, these guys became one-shot machines. Their first hit perfectly hits a DPS down to around 55% and the secondary drill attack oneshots from that range.
gepard is a weird tank. his skill is something that belongs on a dps(every other preservation skill is something defensive like MC taunting, fu xuan casting her buff that redirects damage, aventurine's shield and march's single target shield) and since his defense is locked behind ult you're forced to run an energy regen rope as you need to keep your shield up as often as possible
Ngl i kinda wished that the useless trait i forgot which one it is gives out energy per hit and maybe alleviate the need for a ERR rope and add Eff res since i find it to be a double edged sword..
Good lord you're underselling him so hard. Sure between Fu Xuan and until Acheron's banner his stonks were down big time, no denying that. But the fact that he applies one debuff every turn, btw Gallagher and Aventurine could NEVER (unless you're whaling for E2S1 Aven), and that he's innately the best Trend user due to his taunt buff trace makes him quite viable for Acheron teams. The most offensively powerful variant was, or maybe still is, Acheron/Sparkle/Pela or SW/trend Gepard (ideally E1). His relics do need to be really good to both sustain the team, move fast and secure the debuff tho. Nowadays the Jiaoqiu vaiant has similar performance but is much more comfy and with lower relic quality requirements however. But don't forget Gepard is a free character if you have him and that counts for a lot for F2P/low spenders. He absolutely stomps on Bailu, Natasha, ice M7, PTB and Lynx and doesn't belong anywhere near them in tier lists.
He’s not underselling, he’s being realistic without any bias. I’m sorry but theres no way around the fact that aven basically stole any chance geppie had of being meta relevant. Does that mean that gep can’t beat MoC or that his shield isn’t good? No, but that doesn’t change the fact that he fell off
@@Denarias People always judge characters as if they're free I guess. I'm not saying if there was a Gepard banner next to an Aventurine banner that I would advocate people pull on the Gepard banner. In a vacuum he obviously has lower value. But the fact that he still has a niche where he excels (even beating Aventurine), and in one of the top 3 teams in the game no less is definitely underselling. The one caveat to this is that Hoyo is pushing hard for supports and sustains that deal decent to good damage (destroying the concept of hypercarry), and that is an environment Gepard can never compete in. So if this continues his value may drop again, but for right now he's in almost as good of a place as he was at the start considering the price tag of "free 99".

You're objectively wasting currency on something that's is overkill. Only reason to take him in that situation is if you really like him as a character. Just makes you worse at the game, and the moment you don't have him on field you start tripping up lol. Jepard an amazingly useful unit, and I didn't enough know he had a taunt debuff until this top comment, that's awesome (I got jerpard recently and have being loving him in Simulated universe)
aventurine vs gepard is the biggest powercreep ive seen in this game. aventurine totally makes gepard useless now,aventurine gives shield with just his skill and its stackable plus he also gives shield with his passive making him more sp friendly than gepard
Yeah it has to eventually happen sadly. They will have to release a shielder preservation unit that can do more than just shielding hence Aventurine and same for future shielders. Gepard can still be decent if you just need sustain but he comes with flaws that unfortunately not even his eidolons can fix and he can't comfortably sustain.
aventurine is to gepard what people said sparkle was to bronya. while bronya can still be a upgrade/sidegrade to sparkle in some cases, and can be used with sparkle with speed tuning, aventurine is just a better gepard in every way. better personal damage, more consistent shielding, more team buffs (+50 effect res and crit dmg debuff on enemies). 99% of the time theres no practical reason to use gepard when you have aventurine. same can be said about bailu vs every other healer (minus natasha) btw. people argue to death about dps/harmony powercreep but i think sustains have seen the most powercreep by a huge margin
Gepard is one of the units that got a new lease on life with thw arrival of Acheron, thanks to the Trend of the universal market LC and his innate taunt in his traces he actually is her second best sustain, considering his competition is a limited unit considered the best sustain in the game that's impressive. He is also used for the remembrance or preservation strats for clearing SU expansions.
He is fourth, not second. First is Aventurine because *Aventurine*. Second is Gallagher for his debuff and large heal. Third is Fu Xuan for damage mitigation, and for crit rate. He’s only after all these options, and his SP negativity doesn’t help much at all. He’s not bad though.
@@Sunrise20403 FX can't draw aggro to herself so the trend LC has less overall activations also she doesn't have a single debuff on her kit. Gallagher doesn't have access to a LC that applies debuff and his only debuffs are gated by his ult. But sure they are better right?
@@cloveangel FX has nothing going for her outside of that Crit Rate and Gallagher needs to be run with Silver Wolf and hit a 50/50 Imprint with either Fire or Quantum Bug Imprint on SetUps where enemies have no Fire Weakness, not to mention Gallagher actually Breaking enemies Himself for the Fire Break DOT and his Regenerating Energy needs with Thief. Just use Gepard with Trend, don't try to gimmick Teams like these.
Still using Geopard in 2.4, he is doing great job on sustaining my team, that's all I need. Yes Aventurine is way better but hey, If Geopard is doing his job well enough then anything + is overkill.
Gepard is still really good in Acheron team actually. I have him at Trend S1 and he helped me a lot with stack consistency. Allowed me to wait for JQ. Now I have JQ S1 and clear all the content with Acheron team without a limited 5* sustain.
The man carried me during the beginning. Yeah I took ages to kill story bosses bc I never had a slight idea what I was doing at the time but now I do I haven’t used him much anymore.
I just think that defensive units that brings more in battle other than sustain is what makes a unit valuable. And from the looks of it, offensive Sustain will most likely age better compare to those utility. A. Offensive sustain - Aventurine - Lingsha B. Utility sustain - Huohuo - Fu Xuan - Loucha
Gepard is still a very decent defensive options if you don’t have a limited sustain With a taunt cone he’s got a pretty much infinite ult uptime Moreover, he can be fully SP positive His downsides are 1) horrible base spd, hard to get to 134 2) lack of offensive potential 3) horrible synergy with fast units/action advance Truly a worthy neutral A tier sustain
That's fair. His relic requirements to be firing on all cylinders is quite high, and the cavern/ornament stages he prefers are pretty inefficient. When he is well built he's actually so good, especially in Acheron teams with trend. Add E1 and you have a debuffing machine that can give Acheron up to 6 stacks per cycle, hell maybe 7 if you have the speed. Kinda requires Sparkle if you want to skill spam tho.
I may not use him now, but goddamn Gepard was the MVP of my account from 1.5 (when I started playing the game) all the way to 2.1 since I got Aventurine and Gallagher. He carried my teams and he became one of my favorite characters in the story because of it, i was kinda worried they were gonna let Luka beat him in the new event but good to see that he won (i love Luka too, but man Gepard is on another level for me)
I used him up until aventurine. Day 1 player btw. I didnt pull for Luocha because I was sure as hell not missing out on Kafka. and skipped on Fu xuan because I got Imbibitor Lunae. With me both having Bailu and Gepard it was really no surprise that I avoided even the feature 5 star characters because other than MOC 11 and 12 I could clear everything in the game. plus I am a shields supremecist It wasnt until Aventurine (the only limited shielder) that I finally wanted another defensive unit. And that was mostly because Aventurine was my favorite character of Pennacony up until that point. Later becoming my second favorite with Firefly becoming the fan favorite of the entire fandom. If you still dont have any other defensive character other than Gepard its okay. He is still good. and can still keep you alive perfectly. Its just that other characters are stronger and more comfortable to use. Shielder to shielder comparrison Aventurine has a bigger total shield he can apply with his skill and followup. And the shield also gives 50% effect res. And he gives everyone his skill's shield upon entering combat wich is something Gepard can only do with his technique. etc.
I still use gepard his shields are so beefy I rarely lose them and if I do his ER is great and fills up fast. so its never long before I get another shield up.
Lost my 50/50 to a Himeko eidolon while trying to pull for Aventurine so I opted to stay using Gepard for my Acheron team with the Trend LC and I'm brave to say that he's been a decently reliable sustain. I'm able to clear quite far into end game content and with the addition of Jiaoqiu on my Acheron team, safe to say it's quite comfortable. Still saving for Aventurine's rerun though haha but for the time being, Gepard is serving me well.
Funny this vid pops up on the same day I get a clear on Swarm Disaster Difficulty 5, with Gepard being half the reason why- saved my entire run on both second plane boss and final boss with his guts and shields. Fu Xuan just wasn't cutting it in that build.
He carried me in the Early-Mid game when my only Sustain option was Natasha, but as soon as I hit the endgame it was pretty obvious he wouldn't age well. And after I got Aventurine poor Gepard never left the bench again.
One thing I think that could make Gepard came back to the meta, Is Freeze Support / DPS that require freeze status effect. Think of them as Rememerace Path from SU on legs.
if you manage to survive huge aoe attacks with gepard he is the bis for acheron with trend lc i think. bro just works like jiaoqiu with that taunt value, giving debuffs every enemy turn. also he has freeze which counts as a debuff and if you have his e2 he can give one more stack to acheron i guess? other than aoe bro just taunts every attack, gives a debuff and survives easily.
I only started playing this year and lost the Yunli 50/50 to Gepard. He's totally carried me throughout Swarm Disaster and I've been able to clear a lot of content. Ironically, when farming relics for him, I got a lot of crit sub stats, which is the opposite of what happens when I farm for my damage dealers. 😅
Gepard was a pretty decent sustain though i remember using him befor aventurine. Though i find some issues with him that i find annoying -very Slow -lack of offensive utility such as buffing. -his aggro to be somewhat of a double edged sword as it can draw enemies away from allies but it also means there's a chance to get CCed And putting Eff Res means you reduce er which could be a problem. I know about trend with acheron but with both of either Pela/JQ/SW it seems pretty overkill as they provide so many debuffs already unless if you wanna slot in a harmony unit. plus i'm not sure if you wanna be using trend with Freeze since you want enemies to attack you for it trigger. I've seen people say that he's more sp positive than Aven. Though i question whether they put their aventurines in the middle and gepard only shields from ult if he gets CC'ed or his burst is still in recharge then good luck.
I mean, he remains my third sustain choice when Gallagher fails (Aventurine and Gallagher being my go to). He's good enough to make pulling for a limited sustain a luxury rather than a necessity. Despite having Luocha, it's rare I use Gepard over Luocha nowadays (I do stress it used to be the other way around though). Am I still three staring all endgame content ? Yes. Heck, I only pulled for Aventurine cos I liked him and not cos I needed him. Shows how much of luxury items sustains really are in this game.
I wanted to say in DU/SU he is still the best quake enabler, but then i remember how av pressing skill twice just effectively have higher shield, so yeah, he is just a aventurine lite
Preservation units feels like the most premium and exclusive path in the game like we only have a few. Though I feel like Hsr team reserves them on the other Stonehearts/IPC related characters. Anyway back to Gepard, I first got him after losing in Kafka debut banner and I actually used him in Kafka team due that he can use the Trend LC though the burn damage is not much, it's still something and he was amazing in sustaining. I used him until Acheron team but after I got Aventurine eventually replacing him. I really like Geppy and it's too bad that he's been outclassed with other sustain units that offers more utility.
Still use Gepard. Aventurine on one team and Gepard on the other. I almost don’t use my healers. But I agree building speed and Eff res on him takes a lot more effort than Aventurine. I hope one day they will refresh these older units like they do with Dan Heng and March. I’d get the limited Gepard that is more like boss Gepard. He’s my 1st 5 star so he is permenant on my treasure hunting/mission team.
Friend of mine on discord got him as his second standard five star and that man literally carries his ass throughout the game. One unit being better than another doesn't make the other unit unusable.
Day 1 Gepard user, still use him even though have Fu Xuan and HuoHuo. for higher difficulty level of SU and DU still one of the best option to play compare to Abundance units though.... also Gepard need DEF, EHR and ERR at the same time to be consistently good. my Gepard could reach 4000 DEF when the 2nd effect of his sig LC activate after attacked, also has 61 EHR and 68 ERR...:) if someday there is ICE characters could use some new mechanic about freezing, than Gepard will be become nice again to pick along with Yanqing and Misha for freezing mechanic...
There are niche cases where I will use Gepard over Fu… in particular, chadpard doesn’t get one shot in the highest difficulty G&G, swarm and divergent universe. I don’t have aven and I still prefer original March for freeze

Day 1 player and I still don’t have Gepard-but I’ve never felt like I missed out. I would genuinely take his LC over him and Preservation TB over him. Of course, I have E1S1 Aventurine and E2 Bailu (as well as E6 Gallaghar, FX, and E6 Lynx) so I definitely wouldn’t use Gepard anyways
Meanwhile there's me with March rocking 3k+ defense holding the line for everyone. I may not have this shield boy, but she'll gladly watch my back until he jumps in one day

You *could* get banned at any moment with no recourse because you're breaking ToS. I don't know if it has ever happened but I know I'm not taking that risk. Also using a third party to save a couple of bucks is pretty silly and roundabout. Maybe for whales it makes more sense but then you have to trust them with your money.
I’ve been using Gepard since 1.2 I never have pulled a sustain besides fu xuan for a 2nd sustain. Sure, he’s not the best offensively, he still he still gets the job of sustain done
He's literraly so good,people are just sleeping on him.I feel like he's at his most usefull state since 1.0,with acheron. Him on "trend the universal market" is potentially the most stacks a sustaner can give,+ gallagher should be in the break team anyways,gepard is just better than him in an acheron team
Yup he even beats Aventurine in that role because he debuffs every turn and is more consistently hit for the trend proc. The one caveat is that Aventurine/Robin/Jiaoqiu is probably better (or at least more consistent), but at that point you're in an entirely different cost bracket.
Yeah, the aggro boosting mechanic is the most unreliable thing in the entire game, in my opinion. It's no wonder that -Clara 2.0- Yunli has Taunt in her Ultimate instead of an aggro boost (she has it in LC, but it's like an extra to improve her a bit outside of Ultimate). It's that old saying: if the chance is neither 0% nor 100%, then it is always 50%.
That's one of his issues. If you go EHR on him to proc his skill Freeze, you sacrifice Def for his sustainability. Against boss enemies, his freeze will never be a reliable source of debuff for Acheron.

I HATE Gepard. I HATE Gepard. He is so useless, I don't understand why anyone would like him by choice. All he is is an attractive, sweet, caring, sexy, sweaty muscular hot jock-type that reminds me all too nuch of the feelings I used to get from watching the football team in high school. How could anyone appreciate him when all he does is bring a big shield? I was able to clear Simulated Universe World 1 with NO shielder, and people tell me that I need a defensive unit? Yes I died to World 1 over 20 times, but I wasn't trying to be fair. Why would need a shielder if my team of Sampo/Hook/Dan Heng/Tingyun is clearly one of the BEST teams in the game? I don't have skill issue and I don't like hot men. I especially don't like hot sexy men like Gepard, who want to do nothing but protect me.1 don't need protection and I certainly DONT need a hot sexy man like Gepard on my roster. What do people even see in him? A kind, compassionate and caring individual who looks after his family and city? How could anyone actually be ok with getting Gepard off of their Departure Warp? It's simply logical that NOONE should appreciate Gepard. It's such a ludicrous idea that anyone would want Gepard's muscular arms wrapped around them while they cuddle in bed at night after a wonderful night out in Belegog. What a sily concept
I used to have gepard sitting on the bench because i didn't really knew how to build him at the time but the moment acheron was released that was when i started building him up. And to be quite honest i was extremely disappointed. Gepard should've been 4 star character. The only sustain he gets is from his ultimate. And with the enemeys we have nowdays...imagine if you just used his ult and suddently the enemy shreds through the shields he provided. He can't do jackshit. (Only reason i run him with acheron is not only because he is the only sustain that i have but because of the topaz lightcone that makes the enemy get fire debuff each time they hit him) I hate gepard with passion. But until they released another preservation character (because currently we have 5-6 preservation characters) He is just not doing his job.
He's *very* picky with relic quality. But for me his shield never breaks, unless it's on himself cause he's taking all the hits. By that time he's ready to apply it again. If anything I'd say it's more annoying when the shield runs out of turns because you're using an advance forward character. Outside of Acheron teams he's fully sp positive, and in her teams nobody can provide as many stacks (well ig he's kinda tied with Jiaoqiu now). But if he can't sustain on your build then that's pretty much GG so I see where you're coming from.
Lol you just don't know how to properly build and use Gepard. I have him and have even used him with Acheron before I got Aventurine (for my Ratio team) and after I built Gallagher as his substitute Acheron sustain. He has issues particularly against CC enemies but he can sustain if you use him right.

Only good thing about Geppie these days is that he can utilize both remembrance and Preservation in SU which are among the strongest path
I remember when Luocha was hands down the best character in the game. At the time he basically made your team immortal (1-shot enemies didn't exist back then) and was fully SP positive.
Before MOC12 the Sanctus Medicus guy with the spear did exist, but with enemies getting more damage but characters still remaining capped at lvl 80, these guys became one-shot machines. Their first hit perfectly hits a DPS down to around 55% and the secondary drill attack oneshots from that range.
gepard is a weird tank. his skill is something that belongs on a dps(every other preservation skill is something defensive like MC taunting, fu xuan casting her buff that redirects damage, aventurine's shield and march's single target shield)
and since his defense is locked behind ult you're forced to run an energy regen rope as you need to keep your shield up as often as possible
I thought his skill feels more like it belongs to a debuffing support.
Ngl i kinda wished that the useless trait i forgot which one it is gives out energy per hit and maybe alleviate the need for a ERR rope and add Eff res since i find it to be a double edged sword..

Good lord you're underselling him so hard. Sure between Fu Xuan and until Acheron's banner his stonks were down big time, no denying that. But the fact that he applies one debuff every turn, btw Gallagher and Aventurine could NEVER (unless you're whaling for E2S1 Aven), and that he's innately the best Trend user due to his taunt buff trace makes him quite viable for Acheron teams. The most offensively powerful variant was, or maybe still is, Acheron/Sparkle/Pela or SW/trend Gepard (ideally E1). His relics do need to be really good to both sustain the team, move fast and secure the debuff tho. Nowadays the Jiaoqiu vaiant has similar performance but is much more comfy and with lower relic quality requirements however. But don't forget Gepard is a free character if you have him and that counts for a lot for F2P/low spenders. He absolutely stomps on Bailu, Natasha, ice M7, PTB and Lynx and doesn't belong anywhere near them in tier lists.

@@Denarias People always judge characters as if they're free I guess. I'm not saying if there was a Gepard banner next to an Aventurine banner that I would advocate people pull on the Gepard banner. In a vacuum he obviously has lower value.
But the fact that he still has a niche where he excels (even beating Aventurine), and in one of the top 3 teams in the game no less is definitely underselling. The one caveat to this is that Hoyo is pushing hard for supports and sustains that deal decent to good damage (destroying the concept of hypercarry), and that is an environment Gepard can never compete in. So if this continues his value may drop again, but for right now he's in almost as good of a place as he was at the start considering the price tag of "free 99".

You're objectively wasting currency on something that's is overkill. Only reason to take him in that situation is if you really like him as a character. Just makes you worse at the game, and the moment you don't have him on field you start tripping up lol. aventurine vs gepard is the biggest powercreep ive seen in this game. aventurine totally makes gepard useless now,aventurine gives shield with just his skill and its stackable plus he also gives shield with his passive making him more sp friendly than gepard
Yeah it has to eventually happen sadly. They will have to release a shielder preservation unit that can do more than just shielding hence Aventurine and same for future shielders. Gepard can still be decent if you just need sustain but he comes with flaws that unfortunately not even his eidolons can fix and he can't comfortably sustain.
aventurine is to gepard what people said sparkle was to bronya. while bronya can still be a upgrade/sidegrade to sparkle in some cases, and can be used with sparkle with speed tuning, aventurine is just a better gepard in every way. better personal damage, more consistent shielding, more team buffs (+50 effect res and crit dmg debuff on enemies). 99% of the time theres no practical reason to use gepard when you have aventurine.
same can be said about bailu vs every other healer (minus natasha) btw. people argue to death about dps/harmony powercreep but i think sustains have seen the most powercreep by a huge margin
Gepard is one of the units that got a new lease on life with thw arrival of Acheron, thanks to the Trend of the universal market LC and his innate taunt in his traces he actually is her second best sustain, considering his competition is a limited unit considered the best sustain in the game that's impressive. He is also used for the remembrance or preservation strats for clearing SU expansions.
Aventurine,Fuxuan and Gallagher better than him
He is fourth, not second.
First is Aventurine because *Aventurine*.
Second is Gallagher for his debuff and large heal.
Third is Fu Xuan for damage mitigation, and for crit rate.
He’s only after all these options, and his SP negativity doesn’t help much at all. He’s not bad though.
@@Sunrise20403 FX can't draw aggro to herself so the trend LC has less overall activations also she doesn't have a single debuff on her kit. Gallagher doesn't have access to a LC that applies debuff and his only debuffs are gated by his ult.

@@cloveangel FX has nothing going for her outside of that Crit Rate and Gallagher needs to be run with Silver Wolf and hit a 50/50 Imprint with either Fire or Quantum Bug Imprint on SetUps where enemies have no Fire Weakness, not to mention Gallagher actually Breaking enemies Himself for the Fire Break DOT and his Regenerating Energy needs with Thief.
Just use Gepard with Trend, don't try to gimmick Teams like these.

Yes Aventurine is way better but hey, If Geopard is doing his job well enough then anything + is overkill.
Gepard is still really good in Acheron team actually. I have him at Trend S1 and he helped me a lot with stack consistency. Allowed me to wait for JQ. Now I have JQ S1 and clear all the content with Acheron team without a limited 5* sustain.
The man carried me during the beginning. Yeah I took ages to kill story bosses bc I never had a slight idea what I was doing at the time but now I do I haven’t used him much anymore.
I just think that defensive units that brings more in battle other than sustain is what makes a unit valuable. And from the looks of it, offensive Sustain will most likely age better compare to those utility.

Moreover, he can be fully SP positive
His downsides are
1) horrible base spd, hard to get to 134
2) lack of offensive potential
3) horrible synergy with fast units/action advance

That's fair. His relic requirements to be firing on all cylinders is quite high, and the cavern/ornament stages he prefers are pretty inefficient. When he is well built he's actually so good, especially in Acheron teams with trend. Add E1 and you have a debuffing machine that can give Acheron up to 6 stacks per cycle, hell maybe 7 if you have the speed. Kinda requires Sparkle if you want to skill spam tho.
I may not use him now, but goddamn Gepard was the MVP of my account from 1.5 (when I started playing the game) all the way to 2.1 since I got Aventurine and Gallagher.
He carried my teams and he became one of my favorite characters in the story because of it, i was kinda worried they were gonna let Luka beat him in the new event but good to see that he won (i love Luka too, but man Gepard is on another level for me)
I already have Aventurine E0S1 and a Gallagher E3, but I would use the Gepard if I got one.
I used him up until aventurine. Day 1 player btw. I didnt pull for Luocha because I was sure as hell not missing out on Kafka. and skipped on Fu xuan because I got Imbibitor Lunae. With me both having Bailu and Gepard it was really no surprise that I avoided even the feature 5 star characters because other than MOC 11 and 12 I could clear everything in the game. plus I am a shields supremecist It wasnt until Aventurine (the only limited shielder) that I finally wanted another defensive unit. And that was mostly because Aventurine was my favorite character of Pennacony up until that point. Later becoming my second favorite with Firefly becoming the fan favorite of the entire fandom. If you still dont have any other defensive character other than Gepard its okay. He is still good. and can still keep you alive perfectly. Its just that other characters are stronger and more comfortable to use. Shielder to shielder comparrison Aventurine has a bigger total shield he can apply with his skill and followup. And the shield also gives 50% effect res. And he gives everyone his skill's shield upon entering combat wich is something Gepard can only do with his technique. etc.
I still use gepard his shields are so beefy I rarely lose them and if I do his ER is great and fills up fast. so its never long before I get another shield up.
Lost my 50/50 to a Himeko eidolon while trying to pull for Aventurine so I opted to stay using Gepard for my Acheron team with the Trend LC and I'm brave to say that he's been a decently reliable sustain. I'm able to clear quite far into end game content and with the addition of Jiaoqiu on my Acheron team, safe to say it's quite comfortable. Still saving for Aventurine's rerun though haha but for the time being, Gepard is serving me well.
Funny this vid pops up on the same day I get a clear on Swarm Disaster Difficulty 5, with Gepard being half the reason why- saved my entire run on both second plane boss and final boss with his guts and shields. Fu Xuan just wasn't cutting it in that build.
He carried me in the Early-Mid game when my only Sustain option was Natasha, but as soon as I hit the endgame it was pretty obvious he wouldn't age well.
And after I got Aventurine poor Gepard never left the bench again.

One thing I think that could make Gepard came back to the meta, Is Freeze Support / DPS that require freeze status effect. Think of them as Rememerace Path from SU on legs.
if you manage to survive huge aoe attacks with gepard he is the bis for acheron with trend lc i think. bro just works like jiaoqiu with that taunt value, giving debuffs every enemy turn. also he has freeze which counts as a debuff and if you have his e2 he can give one more stack to acheron i guess? other than aoe bro just taunts every attack, gives a debuff and survives easily.
He is kinda good with firefly because he could freeze but it's hard I would recommend e1 and try it it goes in single target smooth 🤤

I only started playing this year and lost the Yunli 50/50 to Gepard. He's totally carried me throughout Swarm Disaster and I've been able to clear a lot of content.
Ironically, when farming relics for him, I got a lot of crit sub stats, which is the opposite of what happens when I farm for my damage dealers. 😅
Gepard was a pretty decent sustain though i remember using him befor aventurine. Though i find some issues with him that i find annoying

-lack of offensive utility such as buffing.
-his aggro to be somewhat of a double edged sword as it can draw enemies away from allies but it also means there's a chance to get CCed And putting Eff Res means you reduce er which could be a problem.
I know about trend with acheron but with both of either Pela/JQ/SW it seems pretty overkill as they provide so many debuffs already unless if you wanna slot in a harmony unit. plus i'm not sure if you wanna be using trend with Freeze since you want enemies to attack you for it trigger.
I've seen people say that he's more sp positive than Aven. Though i question whether they put their aventurines in the middle and gepard only shields from ult if he gets CC'ed or his burst is still in recharge then good luck.
I mean, he remains my third sustain choice when Gallagher fails (Aventurine and Gallagher being my go to). He's good enough to make pulling for a limited sustain a luxury rather than a necessity. Despite having Luocha, it's rare I use Gepard over Luocha nowadays (I do stress it used to be the other way around though). Am I still three staring all endgame content ? Yes. Heck, I only pulled for Aventurine cos I liked him and not cos I needed him. Shows how much of luxury items sustains really are in this game.
I wanted to say in DU/SU he is still the best quake enabler, but then i remember how av pressing skill twice just effectively have higher shield, so yeah, he is just a aventurine lite
Preservation units feels like the most premium and exclusive path in the game like we only have a few. Though I feel like Hsr team reserves them on the other Stonehearts/IPC related characters. Anyway back to Gepard, I first got him after losing in Kafka debut banner and I actually used him in Kafka team due that he can use the Trend LC though the burn damage is not much, it's still something and he was amazing in sustaining. I used him until Acheron team but after I got Aventurine eventually replacing him. I really like Geppy and it's too bad that he's been outclassed with other sustain units that offers more utility.
Still use Gepard. Aventurine on one team and Gepard on the other. I almost don’t use my healers. But I agree building speed and Eff res on him takes a lot more effort than Aventurine. I hope one day they will refresh these older units like they do with Dan Heng and March. I’d get the limited Gepard that is more like boss Gepard. He’s my 1st 5 star so he is permenant on my treasure hunting/mission team.
Friend of mine on discord got him as his second standard five star and that man literally carries his ass throughout the game. One unit being better than another doesn't make the other unit unusable.
He still carry me going through Divergent 6. His shield help my team stay alive and his freeze skill is really useful to delay some boss movement 😃
Day 1 Gepard user, still use him even though have Fu Xuan and HuoHuo. for higher difficulty level of SU and DU still one of the best option to play compare to Abundance units though....
also Gepard need DEF, EHR and ERR at the same time to be consistently good. my Gepard could reach 4000 DEF when the 2nd effect of his sig LC activate after attacked, also has 61 EHR and 68 ERR...:)
if someday there is ICE characters could use some new mechanic about freezing, than Gepard will be become nice again to pick along with Yanqing and Misha for freezing mechanic...
There are niche cases where I will use Gepard over Fu… in particular, chadpard doesn’t get one shot in the highest difficulty G&G, swarm and divergent universe. I don’t have aven and I still prefer original March for freeze

You *could* get banned at any moment with no recourse because you're breaking ToS. I don't know if it has ever happened but I know I'm not taking that risk. Also using a third party to save a couple of bucks is pretty silly and roundabout. Maybe for whales it makes more sense but then you have to trust them with your money.

Yup he even beats Aventurine in that role because he debuffs every turn and is more consistently hit for the trend proc. The one caveat is that Aventurine/Robin/Jiaoqiu is probably better (or at least more consistent), but at that point you're in an entirely different cost bracket.

Yeah, the aggro boosting mechanic is the most unreliable thing in the entire game, in my opinion. It's no wonder that -Clara 2.0- Yunli has Taunt in her Ultimate instead of an aggro boost (she has it in LC, but it's like an extra to improve her a bit outside of Ultimate).
It's that old saying: if the chance is neither 0% nor 100%, then it is always 50%.
If you build him as Effect Hit Rate does it count as an Acheron debuff?
That's one of his issues. If you go EHR on him to proc his skill Freeze, you sacrifice Def for his sustainability. Against boss enemies, his freeze will never be a reliable source of debuff for Acheron.

I used to have gepard sitting on the bench because i didn't really knew how to build him at the time but the moment acheron was released that was when i started building him up. And to be quite honest i was extremely disappointed. Gepard should've been 4 star character. The only sustain he gets is from his ultimate. And with the enemeys we have nowdays...imagine if you just used his ult and suddently the enemy shreds through the shields he provided. He can't do jackshit. (Only reason i run him with acheron is not only because he is the only sustain that i have but because of the topaz lightcone that makes the enemy get fire debuff each time they hit him) I hate gepard with passion. But until they released another preservation character (because currently we have 5-6 preservation characters) He is just not doing his job.
He's *very* picky with relic quality. But for me his shield never breaks, unless it's on himself cause he's taking all the hits. By that time he's ready to apply it again. If anything I'd say it's more annoying when the shield runs out of turns because you're using an advance forward character.
Outside of Acheron teams he's fully sp positive, and in her teams nobody can provide as many stacks (well ig he's kinda tied with Jiaoqiu now). But if he can't sustain on your build then that's pretty much GG so I see where you're coming from.
Lol you just don't know how to properly build and use Gepard. I have him and have even used him with Acheron before I got Aventurine (for my Ratio team) and after I built Gallagher as his substitute Acheron sustain. He has issues particularly against CC enemies but he can sustain if you use him right.
