Many of these guys have outstanding potential. They ought to at least be given the chance to make an impact in pre-season. Gray, Latu, and Womack have definitely shown they have a huge amount of talent. Injuries have been a factor in all three cases. They ought to get a class on how to stay healthy during the pre-season and the season. Gray could turn out to be the speedster that the 49ers have wanted for some time. He should be strongly encouraged to improve his route running, and other areas that the coaches feel he is lacking in. Ditto the others. Alternatively the 49ers may want to pursue some trades for other players or draft picks in the pre-season. This could be a very tough year for guys who don't win starting spots.
