These 4 vids learned me everything about permutation and combinations that I tried to learn with my calculus book for hours.

@@aswaldcastillo2446 can u teach me how to calculate I'm still don't understand
If a player choose 6 numbers from 1 to 49. And the winning numbers are 12, 17, 23, 24, 27, 39. Then which formula has used for solve this and what is the next winning numbers ?
It cracks me up when people think that a lottery ticket with numbers 1, 2, 3, 4 has less chance of winning than a ticket with more "random" numbers like 13, 21, 41, 56.
It has the same chance of winning, but its expected value is less, as more people pick those numbers, so if you were to win you'd be sharing the prize money with more people.
mathematically the same probability yes, but organically the same probability will it hit, no.
you helped me so much! I hope I can perfect my exam tomorrow! Thanks a lot! ^_^
Question, the numbers that you made smaller, is it because they were even, and you have to take them to the lowest factor or
Pre-Calc goes back to this stuff... my class is doing a unit on this right now.
Very useful! Khan is the best for sure!
thank you so much sal...!!these videos are very helpfull..
god bless you...
thank you so much for your tutorials! they are very effective.
Thank you Sal, plz more videos of discrete maths :)
this is so helpful omg
Helppp; what happens when you pick sequential numbers such as 1,2,3,4,5,6? Or 1,11,22,33 44,55
Are the odds still the same?
Yes that's right most people know what the odds of 4 out of 60 are, what are the odds of 3 of 60, 2 of 60 and 1of 60?
Unless I missed something, you haven't addressed WITH repetition and NO order?
Can the coming numbers be detected on the basis of the previous numbers from one to hundred numbers?
Aww yiss, I can math. Thanks a lot.

Just wonderful, been searching for "how many combinations of lottery numbers" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of - Weyoralyn Winning Willingly - (search on google ) ? Ive heard some super things about it and my work buddy got cool results with it.
I have a question/dilemma about a math problem for you math experts: There's a sports lottery game where there's 14 football matches (each match can end in 3 ways, the local team wins=1, there's a draw=X, or the visiting team wins=2). Let's say for instance I have to guess 10 of those matches (1, X or 2). What are the chances of randomly guessing any of those 10 matches out of 14? I looked on various sites and they used the formula ''3 to the power of 10'' resulting in 1 in 59049 chance but it's incorrect and it's a ridiculously large number too, they calculated the chances assuming there's 10 matches in total and not 14. How can I calculate step by step the correct chances of guessing 10 out of 14 matches?
@24ballin23 He did do that, because order doesn't matter, he divided it by 4! and he got 487635 for the combinations. And for the possibity he got 1/487635. its not wrong.
i know some guy who asked this.. why are the chances of winning the lottery in the millions. when really if you only had to choose 1 number from a set of 49 numbers your chances of getting that number right are 1 in 49, so after that seeing that numbers don't show up twice your chances of getting that second number is 1 in 48, then 1 in 47 for the 3rd then 1 in 46 for the fourth. so technically the chances of winning the lottery should be one in 49+48+47+46+45+44 which is 279...
Ok Mr khan
Are there never duplicate numbers in one roll?
do you have more videos about this? I would really appreciate it :D
நன்றி
My teacher takes A15 min to teach this, thank you!
Excellent video.
wouldn't the solution be 4/487,635?, not 1/487,635? cuz it says regardless of order? maybe i'm just confused... could someone clear this up?
The answer in the video is correct because they are just finding the probabliity that these four numbers will be selected and not the number of combinations that these numbers will be selected .
Hope I was able to help.
What's the point of (60-4)! (or 56!) ? That figure was not used at all; it magically disappeared from the formula.
got it!!! thank you so much Mr.Khan!!!
Winner of a video, I've been looking for "proven lottery winning system" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Zenulian Lottify Bonkers - (do a search on google ) ? Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my buddy got amazing results with it.
Why would you need combinatorics in calculus?
Ok I am a little confused. Would it work if i wrote. (1/60)*(1/59)*(1/58)*(1/57) Since u have a 1 in 60 chance to get the first number then 1 in 59 chance for second and so on would this work? but i dont get the same answer
That's what I did and then I multiplied it by 4! because you want to count all those orders of combinations. But my answer is different. :/
Good luck with winning the lottery with that big ass number of combinations. :D
This was great, thanks, been searching for "lotto winning systems that work" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Zenulian Lottify Bonkers - (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? Ive heard some unbelievable things about it and my mate got great results with it.
I feel bad to point it out( Coz your videos help me score high) but the last part of the explanation is wrong. The winning numbers 3,15,47,49 are not arranged in that order. Since you said that the order in which the numbers on the lottery appeared didnt matter. Hence shouldn't the probability be 24 divided by 60C4 since those 4 winning numbers can be arranged in 4X3X2X1 ways??
i also thought that before. but since order doesnt matter, we have to divide the same 4x3x2x1 with 4x3x2x1
How to know the probability of losing?
your thinking what is the probability of choosing this combination numbers out of all possible combinations of numbers given that there already the winning numbers not whats the probability of this set of numbers being the winning combination out of all possible combinations. a little late and possibly wrong but i needed to explain to my self as well :D
this video is about to understand what the calculator does. you could do this example now without calculator if you watched the video. and that's the point of mathematics.
His answer is wrong.
Its [24/ 487635] because the order doesn't matter thus those winning numbers occur in 4!=24 ways.
Rutu Amin that's what I was finding in these comments if someone has pointed out 4! Yea..... actual answer is 0.0002050714% probability!!
But 487635 is the number of different combinations of 4 numbers out of 60 regardless of the order, isn't it?
He is correct, you are wrong. He is already dividing by 24, 4!....you are for some reason dividing the answer by 24 after its already divided by 24...why?
@@parthpatel3331 your answer is the same as in the video but expressed as a percentage.
I was under The impression that factorials required you to go all the way down to one. Every example I’ve looked at goes from 7654321. Why do you only do four as it it some sort of rule? For example seven factorial two goes all the way to one it doesn’t just go 76 and stop there.
Thanks Sal
I didn't know you could learn permutations and combinations from calculus. That's strange, I would think stats but not calculus.
I'm thinking the correct answer is 4!/(60C4). Since the order didn't matter.

Can you explain how to get the all possibilities number, with formulas, and show those numbers
So, what is the purpose of the "nPr" and "nCr" buttons on a scientific calculator?
It's been 8 years, but......click shift that × for nPr meaning permutation. If you're solving Combination then click shift then ÷ for combination
@@maracas3894 haha you’re amazing, I ended up finding out after but I forgot it by now, thanks for re-teaching me something new 😂
PLEASE HELP!
The digits 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 are used to make 3 digit codes.
In the case where digits may be repeated, how many codes are numbers that are
greater than 300 and exactly divisible by 5?
please help I am looking at pick 4 and you pick from 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 how many 4 digit codes is there?
you can just use the combination button on the calculator once you understand the concept.
According to my friend I've been debating for the last hour it's actually 50% because get this, "you either win or you dont" LMAO
So if you bought 487,635 tickets to account for all of the possible combinations you’d have a 100% chance of winning. The question is who has the time to fill out that many tickets
Nope, it would be less than 100%. For example the probability of throwing 2 heads in a row is 1/4. But if you tried to throw 2 coins 4 times, you're not guaranteed to get 2 heads in one of the pairs.
THANK-YOU! I actually get this wtf I feel like a genius
This was great, thanks, I've been looking for "pick 5 lottery wheel" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Zenulian Lottify Bonkers - (do a search on google ) ? Ive heard some great things about it and my brother in law got excellent results with it.
Cheers for this, I have been researching "possible winning lottery numbers" for a while now, and I think this has helped. What if you pick 8 numbers but need only 4 to win?
You just solved the sum. No use for actual lottery
so true :)
lol, that's extremely low for a lottery. In real life you only have one in like something hundred millions chances of winning.
This is glorious, I've been looking for "wheeling lottery numbers free" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Zenulian Lottify Bonkers - (just google it ) ? Ive heard some incredible things about it and my work buddy got great success with it.
I think it's because in the video we don't care about order, but in real life you can't chose numbers in any order because you just cross them so there is just one possible order
But in this example you would write numbers in brackets so
In real life it would be 60!/(60-4)! = 11 703 240
But I may be very very wrong
I also tell a question to you.
D
Flipping heck man you overcomplicated this way too much, all you needed to do was 1 / (60C4) and that's it. Done in about 30seconds to 1minute.
This was great, I been tryin to find out about "picking winning lottery numbers free" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Zenulian Lottify Bonkers - (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? Ive heard some amazing things about it and my buddy got amazing success with it.
but what is the secret I missed it
There is a mistake I think.... it should be... 0.0002050714%
As total possible events are... 60*59*58*57
And.... outcome is not 1.... it's 4 factorial!! That is.... 24!!
As order won't affect the matching system!!
So P=[(24/11,703,240)*100]%
Thanks!!
Don't get it 😅 😔😭
