- In this vlog we are out in the farm to dig channels around our family taro farm with my cousins Saula, Timoci and Viliame.
Digging channels is important as you want to prevent your taros to get too much rain water as it can destroy the taro farm.
We harvest some cabbage that we are going to use for our lunch when we return to the village. Atila Dibau is going to show us a cabbage dish that they usually cook in the village when they harvest cabbage.

Uria, you just mentioned that the village runs out of onion and some other vegetables.
I have a suggestion, why don't you get someone to create a garden in which they can grow some of these vegetables, that on the other hand would also be a profitable business in the village. Is that a solution? You have excellent fertile soil over there and the rainfall is always available.

Inter cropping is good if the plants do not compete & deprive the other plants of soil nutrition. May be eggplant, green onions & ocra plants planted in between the taro plants.
Definitely the one issue with growing new plants and vegetables like onions for instance.

There's definitely potential to grow some vegetables and ingredients that you have to buy from the mainland as pointed out in the previous comments, it can save you alot of money even if it's a small garden which is something to consider.
The lunch though is always a classic and can't go wrong with that prior to grogging on a full belly later with no dinner afterwards. 😂
