the prequels always reminded me of Oedipus Rex. if you haven't read it basically Oedipus was born in Thebes his parents heard from an oracle that he would kill his father and sleep with his mother so they abandon him on a mountainside to die and Oedipus gets found by shepherds and taken to Corinth where he gets adopted by the king and queen of Corinth because they cant have an heir. Oedipus grows up and hears rumors that he's an illegitimate heir so he seeks an oracle who tells him that he'll kill his father and sleep with his mother so in fear he flees Corinth to avoid what he is destined to do. he flees to Thebes and on the way he encounters an old man and gets in a dispute and throws him off and kills him. he later defeats a sphinx's riddle and frees Thebes from it and becomes king then he unknowingly sleeps with his actual mom.
There’s a scene that I love in RoTJ. When Vader and Luke are on Endor. “It is too late for me, son.” That line gets me because that’s not coming from Vader, that’s Anakin speaking there. He’s letting down his walls and showing who he really is. Anakin never died. That fiery light-sided spirit never died. He just lived in a cloud of guilt, confusion, anger, despair, and lies for a while, until his son brought him out of it. “Then my father is truly dead.” This may sound like Luke is being a little harsh, but it’s actually uplifting. He’s telling his father that Anakin wouldn’t have just given up like that. He would’ve fought the hard fight. He would defeat Vader and the Emperor, and bring balance to the Force.

I preferred Ian McDiarmid and McGregor (McGregor definitely played a good Obi-Wan) I just think people sometimes forget that the jedi have to surpress their emotions immensely which makes playing Anakin such a difficult task.
Has anyone told you the tragic tale of Darth Vader.... of course not, its not a story the jedi or sith would tell you. This Tale is about a young boy who falls into a deep hole of anger, pain, and suffering at the hands of his friends, his enemies and himself. He sought the power to keep his loved ones from dying, but it was that very power that would kill them and many more. But it ends with his redemption, the giving of his own life to end the very evil he has swore to destroy, but gave in too.
The young Jedi named Darth Vader he betrayed and murdered. Its ironic how one man Fell onto his own Tower of revenge, sadness, anger, Fear and that turned him evil
man is such a talented actor but IMO he was hindered by poor writing and a director that could not help the cast deliver the lines the way they shouldve been
The older I get and the more I rewatch the SW franchise, I realize how much I love Vader/Anakin. Even as that little kid on Tatooine you could see the darkness in him, but also the light. Then he got older. He was arrogant, he was selfish, but he truly believed in the Jedi, in the light side of the force, in sacrificing oneself for the greater good. Then, after a decade of war, he was sick and tired of endless fighting and killing. He saw what the galaxy had become and he hated it. The Light had failed him and he was ready for something different. Then, he fell to the dark side. He fought his master, he slaughtered the younglings, he let his anger run wild only long enough to see what he had done before becoming Darth Vader. And in that moment, as he lay dying on the shore of that lava river, something had broken in him. He had always believed in the greater good, always believed that he was the chosen one and could bring balance to the force. Now that spirit, that determination, died with Anakin Skywalker on Mustafar. He spent years as Vader, eternally miserable, angry, and guilty. The person he hated most was himself, and he distracted himself from his pain with hundreds, thousands slaughtered at his lightsaber and his commands. Then he discovered who Luke was. He discovered that he had a son, who he knew could help him. But he wasn't worthy of help in his own mind. He deserved to be miserable, he thought. So he lashed out at luke, drove him away. But luke didn't give up. He still thought that Anakin was somewhere inside Vader. And on the Death Star, Anakin Skywalker was reborn. He found that determination, that willingness to sacrifice himself. And he did. In the galaxy's greatest moment of need, he gave his life so that the galaxy could live again. And as he lay dying once again, cradled in his son's arms, he knew that he was worthy once again. That the spark of Anakin Skywalker had never been extinguished That he was still that little boy on Tatooine That he was still the Jedi Knight who defended the galaxy for over a decade That he never became Darth Vader That he never fell. And he could finally be at peace, knowing that he was a hero. That he was good enough. That he was the chosen one.

Imagine had Anakin stayed in the Light? Still have Order 66 but, Anakin never joins in, instead saving the few Jedi he can from the Temple. The battle on Mustafar is now Obi Wan and Anakin against the Emperor, who kills Padme for getting in his way when she stands up to him and against him. Then, during the battle, Anakin sacrifices his limbs to save Obi Wan and gives him the opening he needed to strike down the Emperor. Obi Wan carriers the now crippled Anakin to his wife's side as they are taken to the asteroid. On the way, Anakin and Padme simply hold each other's broken bodies. Anakin knowing what is to come and knowing he is unable to stop it. On the asteroid we see the two separated, even as Anakin protests. The medical droid states "sir, if we do not get you to a life sustaining unit, you will die," Padme replying "go Ani, you have to be here for our child (still unaware of the twins, or her fate), we'll be here when you're done." "You watch over them, you hear me Obi Wan," Anakin shouts. "Of course my friend," Obi Wan whispers. Just as in the movie, Anakin is put back together, piece by piece, though this time, with more care. His cries mirroring that of Padme's as her life force slips away. Unlike the movie, he senses the twins, smiling with joy as the droids finish their work, his suit of robotic parts now draped in white robes. Anakin rushes to his late wife's side. "I failed her," he says tearfully; "not yet" Obi Wan replies. "Anakin, I... I don't know how the order will want to deal with this, but it is likely these children will be inducted." System by system, citizens turn on their oppressive clones, as Rex recruits more and more to his liberated cause, at one point even facing down his brother, Cody. At some point, a domineering young pilot is captured and convinced to join the cause, falling hard for the rebel leader's daughter. He and his Wookie companion form a bond with the Son and Daughter of the supreme commander of the Republic's liberation army, having many adventures. Their father ever ready, as more and more assassins of the dark side appear. Ok... all that from this version of the song. Come on, who would watch that?
I would definitely watch that, but the way it ended is perfect the way it is. It wasn't like a typical movie with a happy ending, it ended on a very sad note

Anakin, silent and sad, as Padme's spirit simply looks softly and lovingly at him. Citizen start to call him the Silent Phantom of Naboo.

Episode 4 would start on the hidden world of Tython and could include Anakin tracing the path of the Sith to find a way to lift the Emperor's dark shroud, guided by the soul of Qui Gon. Alderaan still happens the way it did in the New Hope because, instead of being Leia's home planet with her "father," it is the emperor's threat to Anakin and his rebel order. The movie would conclude much in the same way, only with two "endings." Luke's ending sees him blow up the Death Star and Anakin's sees him confront the future that could have been, much like in the cartoons. With Sith spirits using a weak minded assassin's body to fight him. Anakin's journey sees him understand that even single ripples in the forces can have major effects. The movie would still be title "A New Hope," as his children are now that hope. The cool thing about the path I would have set for Anakin is, once he lifts the dark veil, he senses the Yuuzhan Vong, much like Palpatine did in the original canon. Movie 5 would end, for Anakin, with this realization while at Padme's grave.
This is beautiful... no one should go through the pain suffered by Anakin, he grew up with a horrible life, hurting and fearing for the losses of the ones he loved, hoping something like his mother’s death would never happen again. He then fell in love with Padme which was not allowed by the Jedi code, but she was so important to him that he didn’t care and it was because of his love that made him join the darkness... to save her. But he lost his ways, a young man who was never given a choice. Depressed, distraught, and broken by the things he’s done, he was never truly happy with anything, and when he finally had a choice, he suffered, suffered because everything he wanted to prevent, was never saved and he was led down a path he would regret for the rest of his life..
Yeah I think Anakin Skywalker had a great story and all of this started cause of qui Gon jinn he insisted Anakin to be a Jedi and after that his story started
Vader in the OT was such a clear cut classic bad guy, black and white. then we get the prequels and he became a man tortured by his own demons that gave his humanity to save the ones he loved. He succeeded when the fate of the galaxy was relying on him, but always failed when it mattered to him most. He couldn't save his mother, he let his padawan down, he couldn't help fives, he couldn't save his wife and was lead to believe that he had killed her, then he finds out he has a son who was turned against him by the lies of his former master. When he finally gets close to him he must take him to his master and he finally overcomes his demons and sacrifices himself to save the son who he was never able to be a father to. I just don't get why people hate on the prequels so much, they add depth to the story that just wasn't there.
Mace Windu was widely regarded as the best sword fighter in the Jedi Order. Anakin knew, the moment he helped Sidious kill him, that he couldnt do anything to stop him alone, and everyone else would see him as the enemy. He used his considerable force ability to shield his true thoughts from Sidious for all those years, picking off officers he could get away with, waiting, wondering if he'd ever actually Get the moment to strike. Death clearly wasnt a concern, only that it was certain that the foul emperor was dead when he made his move. In the end, by his sacrifice, did he indeed bring balance to the force again by illiminating the Sith once more.
Exactly, prequels are amazing in my opinion. They made Darth Vader's history so tragic. Anakin Skywalker is one of the most tragic characters I have ever heard/read about. P.S. I just disagree with a small little thing lol he didn't let down Ahsoka - the Jedi Order let her down but not Anakin. Edit: but I think Ahsoka herself has already said that few comments earlier lol

He fell to his knees, sobbing, his ghostly robotic voice turning his moans into a noise more akin to a glitching droid. But most of all, Anakin blamed himself.

Darth Vader wasn’t a villain he was hero. He turned to dark side, because he tried to save Padmé. He was so sad and angry that Padmé was gone. But he deserved to see Luke’s face one time before he died. He was a truly Chosen one
The picture is so amazing and fits the music perfectly. Obi wan is holding anakin showing that he still loves him and how he's about to cry. And anakin looks at obi wan with a glaze of hatred and pain.
I dont know if I over reacting, but literaly i dropped some tears, listening this sountrack and watching the image og obi wan an anakin, like when you really understand, everything go through an all his sufering and pain that he had, there you understab why Star wars is one of the most amazing franchises of all time.

The final shot of anakin on mustafar after killing the confederacy members there before the duel was so amazing. The sunset in the distance and anakin just looking at the lava. Where he turns his head and we see a final tear roll down his cheek, he was afraid of what he had become, there wasn't any turning back, he went down a path he was meant to destroy. The sith path. The final 3 notes of that scene play the defeat of the chosen one. Anakin's moral was destroyed and balance was now lost. He knew what he had to do. Episodes 4-6 and everything between until redemption just convey the monster he turned into. Killing all those jedi, all the grieve he caused, all the destruction. He lost everything. His mom, padme, obi wan, and the light side, but not luke and leia. Luke was so powerful in RoTJ, Vader felt the call back to the light. After seeing his new master overpower his son, vader couldn't bear to see his son suffer, he needed to act. He came back, not as vader, but as Anakin Skywalker...
Anakin: "Where is Padme? Is she safe? Is she alright?" Darth Sidious: "It seems in your anger... you killed her." Darth Vader: "I... I couldn't have! She was alive; I felt it... I... Nooooooo!
I can just picture Vader sitting in his mediation chamber, mask off, tears running down his ravaged face, feeling nothing but massive regret as he looks at a holo image of Padme.
There are cinematic characters who are unique as figures. In that particular case, no matter how many movies will follow or how close or distant will be to the Skywalkers' Saga (I mean the original Skywalker family), none of them will ever beat the story of Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader. He is far too iconic to challenge him
God I can just feel the pain from his character emitting from this song, it's almost overwhelming... Anakin is truly the most well developed character in the whole star wars universe. This song literally makes the listener feel his anguish and suffering... Almost like we're taking away a bit of that suffering from him to bring him back to the light. Whoever made this remix... I think hayden has made a great job at portraying Anakin. After all Anakin is supposed to have all these flaws lof a stubborn and deprissive teen in his puberty, whom also is burdened all the responsibility of the chosen one upon. And also he grew up without a father or mother to guide him. Instead he ran during all his despair and confusion to the next best he had, Palpatine ._.
Beautiful, powerful, bringing to light a side of the character that often gets overshadowed by his malice, forgotten under layers of bitterness and hate. Yet, it is there, a sad, broken man, drowning in sorrow, consumed by pain and loss. Pitiable, and yet relatable for so many people.

The older I get and the more I rewatch the SW franchise, I realize how much I love Vader/Anakin.
Even as that little kid on Tatooine you could see the darkness in him, but also the light.
Then he got older. He was arrogant, he was selfish, but he truly believed in the Jedi, in the light side of the force, in sacrificing oneself for the greater good.
Then, after a decade of war, he was sick and tired of endless fighting and killing. He saw what the galaxy had become and he hated it. The Light had failed him and he was ready for something different.
Then, he fell to the dark side. He fought his master, he slaughtered the younglings, he let his anger run wild only long enough to see what he had done before becoming Darth Vader.
And in that moment, as he lay dying on the shore of that lava river, something had broken in him. He had always believed in the greater good, always believed that he was the chosen one and could bring balance to the force. Now that spirit, that determination, died with Anakin Skywalker on Mustafar.
He spent years as Vader, eternally miserable, angry, and guilty. The person he hated most was himself, and he distracted himself from his pain with hundreds, thousands slaughtered at his lightsaber and his commands.
Then he discovered who Luke was. He discovered that he had a son, who he knew could help him. But he wasn't worthy of help in his own mind. He deserved to be miserable, he thought. So he lashed out at luke, drove him away.
But luke didn't give up. He still thought that Anakin was somewhere inside Vader.
And on the Death Star, Anakin Skywalker was reborn. He found that determination, that willingness to sacrifice himself. And he did. In the galaxy's greatest moment of need, he gave his life so that the galaxy could live again.
And as he lay dying once again, cradled in his son's arms, he knew that he was worthy once again.
That the spark of Anakin Skywalker had never been extinguished
That he was still that little boy on Tatooine
That he was still the Jedi Knight who defended the galaxy for over a decade
That he never became Darth Vader
That he never fell.
And he could finally be at peace, knowing that he was a hero. That he was good enough. That he was the chosen one.

Imagine had Anakin stayed in the Light? Still have Order 66 but, Anakin never joins in, instead saving the few Jedi he can from the Temple. The battle on Mustafar is now Obi Wan and Anakin against the Emperor, who kills Padme for getting in his way when she stands up to him and against him. Then, during the battle, Anakin sacrifices his limbs to save Obi Wan and gives him the opening he needed to strike down the Emperor. Obi Wan carriers the now crippled Anakin to his wife's side as they are taken to the asteroid.
On the way, Anakin and Padme simply hold each other's broken bodies. Anakin knowing what is to come and knowing he is unable to stop it. On the asteroid we see the two separated, even as Anakin protests. The medical droid states "sir, if we do not get you to a life sustaining unit, you will die," Padme replying "go Ani, you have to be here for our child (still unaware of the twins, or her fate), we'll be here when you're done." "You watch over them, you hear me Obi Wan," Anakin shouts. "Of course my friend," Obi Wan whispers.
Just as in the movie, Anakin is put back together, piece by piece, though this time, with more care. His cries mirroring that of Padme's as her life force slips away. Unlike the movie, he senses the twins, smiling with joy as the droids finish their work, his suit of robotic parts now draped in white robes. Anakin rushes to his late wife's side. "I failed her," he says tearfully; "not yet" Obi Wan replies. "Anakin, I... I don't know how the order will want to deal with this, but it is likely these children will be inducted." "I can feel their power already." "NO!," Anakin scoffs. "If it is the Order's intention to separate me from them," Anakin rears back, ready to fight, "then I will take on the Order, I will not lose them too." From there we see the light side option play out with the Order in hiding on Tython. Anakin remains a counsel member and becomes a master. Luke and Leia are taught by their father, from a young age, the ways of the force. Slowly, but surely, the rebels, led by Anakin and Obi Wan, reclaim the Republic. System by system, citizens turn on their oppressive clones, as Rex recruits more and more to his liberated cause, at one point even facing down his brother, Cody. At some point, a domineering young pilot is captured and convinced to join the cause, falling hard for the rebel leader's daughter. He and his Wookie companion form a bond with the Son and Daughter of the supreme commander of the Republic's liberation army, having many adventures. Their father ever ready, as more and more assassins of the dark side appear.

Episode 4 would start on the hidden world of Tython and could include Anakin tracing the path of the Sith to find a way to lift the Emperor's dark shroud, guided by the soul of Qui Gon. Alderaan still happens the way it did in the New Hope because, instead of being Leia's home planet with her "father," it is the emperor's threat to Anakin and his rebel order.
The movie would conclude much in the same way, only with two "endings." Luke's ending sees him blow up the Death Star and Anakin's sees him confront the future that could have been, much like in the cartoons. With Sith spirits using a weak minded assassin's body to fight him.
Anakin's journey sees him understand that even single ripples in the forces can have major effects. The movie would still be title "A New Hope," as his children are now that hope. The cool thing about the path I would have set for Anakin is, once he lifts the dark veil, he senses the Yuuzhan Vong, much like Palpatine did in the original canon. Movie 5 would end, for Anakin, with this realization while at Padme's grave.

This is beautiful... no one should go through the pain suffered by Anakin, he grew up with a horrible life, hurting and fearing for the losses of the ones he loved, hoping something like his mother’s death would never happen again. He then fell in love with Padme which was not allowed by the Jedi code, but she was so important to him that he didn’t care and it was because of his love that made him join the darkness... to save her. But he lost his ways, a young man who was never given a choice. Depressed, distraught, and broken by the things he’s done, he was never truly happy with anything, and when he finally had a choice, he suffered, suffered because everything he wanted to prevent, was never saved and he was led down a path he would regret for the rest of his life..

Vader in the OT was such a clear cut classic bad guy, black and white. then we get the prequels and he became a man tortured by his own demons that gave his humanity to save the ones he loved. He succeeded when the fate of the galaxy was relying on him, but always failed when it mattered to him most. He couldn't save his mother, he let his padawan down, he couldn't help fives, he couldn't save his wife and was lead to believe that he had killed her, then he finds out he has a son who was turned against him by the lies of his former master. When he finally gets close to him he must take him to his master and he finally overcomes his demons and sacrifices himself to save the son who he was never able to be a father to. I just don't get why people hate on the prequels so much, they add depth to the story that just wasn't there.

Mace Windu was widely regarded as the best sword fighter in the Jedi Order. Anakin knew, the moment he helped Sidious kill him, that he couldnt do anything to stop him alone, and everyone else would see him as the enemy. He used his considerable force ability to shield his true thoughts from Sidious for all those years, picking off officers he could get away with, waiting, wondering if he'd ever actually Get the moment to strike. Death clearly wasnt a concern, only that it was certain that the foul emperor was dead when he made his move. In the end, by his sacrifice, did he indeed bring balance to the force again by illiminating the Sith once more.
Exactly, prequels are amazing in my opinion. They made Darth Vader's history so tragic. Anakin Skywalker is one of the most tragic characters I have ever heard/read about.
P.S. I just disagree with a small little thing lol he didn't let down Ahsoka - the Jedi Order let her down but not Anakin.

She was the one thing he loved most. He did the most horrible thing imaginable just for her. He sold his soul to the devil just for her. But at the end, for all the pain he caused and endured, he could not save her. Yeah I felt that pain too. Love is poison, and the real reason Anakin suffered such a tragic life.

Was held back by who he looked up to,after becoming a hero and still not trusted by who he fought beside. He gave everything for who he loved, his heroics, his body, his mind, and his life. But killed so many he lost himself, but was redeemed by the only thing he had left, his son, his heir, his family.

Vader's hands twitched, the officers surrounding him sensing the tension surrounding this dark figure; they all backed away.

Anakin turned, and found within Obi-Wan’s eyes a depth of feeling he had only rarely glimpsed in all their years together; and the pure uncomplicated love that rose up within him then felt like a promise from the Force itself.

“I believe,” his onetime Master said with a gently humorous look of astonishment at the words coming out of his mouth, “that you should get used to calling me Obi-Wan.”

He let out a roar of anguish, of anger, of frustration. He had blamed the Republic, for placing such a weight as leading an army on his shoulders.
The bridge began to fall apart, support pillars being crushed by The Force, command consoles showering him with sparks as the room went dark.
He blamed the Jedi, for putting the weight of a Prophecy, centuries old, on him as a child.
The bridge was long empty, the emergency lights flickered on a and blast shields slid into place over the view ports.
He blamed Obi-Wan, and Padme for abandoning him...
He fell to his knees, sobbing, his ghostly robotic voice turning his moans into a noise more akin to a glitching droid.
But most of all, Anakin blamed himself.

Just looking at the picture it makes me sad
The final shot of anakin on mustafar after killing the confederacy members there before the duel was so amazing. The sunset in the distance and anakin just looking at the lava. Where he turns his head and we see a final tear roll down his cheek, he was afraid of what he had become, there wasn't any turning back, he went down a path he was meant to destroy. The sith path. The final 3 notes of that scene play the defeat of the chosen one. Anakin's moral was destroyed and balance was now lost. He knew what he had to do.
Episodes 4-6 and everything between until redemption just convey the monster he turned into. Killing all those jedi, all the grieve he caused, all the destruction. He lost everything. His mom, padme, obi wan, and the light side, but not luke and leia. Luke was so powerful in RoTJ, Vader felt the call back to the light. After seeing his new master overpower his son, vader couldn't bear to see his son suffer, he needed to act. He came back, not as vader, but as Anakin Skywalker...

There are cinematic characters who are unique as figures. In that particular case, no matter how many movies will follow or how close or distant will be to the Skywalkers' Saga (I mean the original Skywalker family), none of them will ever beat the story of Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader. He is far too iconic to challenge him

God I can just feel the pain from his character emitting from this song, it's almost overwhelming... Anakin is truly the most well developed character in the whole star wars universe. This song literally makes the listener feel his anguish and suffering... Almost like we're taking away a bit of that suffering from him to bring him back to the light. Whoever made this remix... I think hayden has made a great job at portraying Anakin. After all Anakin is supposed to have all these flaws lof a stubborn and deprissive teen in his puberty, whom also is burdened all the responsibility of the chosen one upon. And also he grew up without a father or mother to guide him. Instead he ran during all his despair and confusion to the next best he had, Palpatine ._.
As a child I saw him as the most badass villian in cinema. As an adult I see the most tragic character in cinema.
Beautiful, powerful, bringing to light a side of the character that often gets overshadowed by his malice, forgotten under layers of bitterness and hate. Yet, it is there, a sad, broken man, drowning in sorrow, consumed by pain and loss. Pitiable, and yet relatable for so many people.
