Important note regarding defense shred Because defense applies to the same multiplier as attack, every point of defense reduction can be treated as +1 atk, and with most base defenses deliberately lower than base attack, increasing atk is often far more valuable than reducing defense. A char with say, 1000 atk and +600 atk from phsycube/resonance fighting something with 600 defense would net +30% dps from +30% attack, but would only receive +18% dps from +30% penetration.
Yes, great comment! Although it should be noted that Defense Reduction is %, which makes it better against high-DEF targets, which can does not necessarily mean 1% Def Reduction = 1 ATK. Example: Enemy Defense 500, 20% DEF Reduction = ~100ATK, which would be a damage increase of about 10%, not factoring in any other multipliers. However, I think I wasn't very clear in the video. Given you have built your character well, at some point it is more valuable to get some kind of shred instead of i.e. more DMG%. At which point that happens will vary widely from character to team setup to enemy lineup. Thanks for your comment! EDIT 'cause I think I was confused: by defense reduction you did not mean the Stat in itself, I apologize! My point still stands tho :D
@@iamrivenous what is the Penentration mean? I thought it mean the chance of you totally ignore enemy def as stated in game but I guess not.. so it basically reduce enemy def value ? The whole video isn't too clear and at least for me there is some confusion. From what I heard, ATK is the most significant one to improve since every scale with Atk and formula works first with ATK - Def then multiplier For attack , what is the sum up of a good most valuable stats? I heard you say balance and from the video it seems the order range from Atk > Crit rate > Crit damage so that would mean you should invest in ATK, then some in CR and little in CD ? You also mention Penentration which can't be improved through resonate. Last one for attack is Damge Bonus %, how good is Damage bonus % compare to just ATK ? For Def, same question. So the Def the most valuable to improve. About Crit Resist and Crit Def because in my knowledge this is bit stricter as only defense resonate shape give high Crit Resist and Crit Def while Damage Taken Reduction is common in Crit rate resonate shape. Which one is the most valuable stats in def ? Is it Crit resist, Crit Def or Damage taken reduction Finally, about Shredding I assume you mean debuff ? As there isn't anything mention "shred" in the game. What is it exactly? About the math above, I am super confused how he comes up with 30% and 18%. Let's say you have 1000 atk and enemy def is 600. Then damage= 1000-600= 400 damage. Now you improve 30% atk. aka 300 atk more= 1300 - enemy def is 600= 700 damage in the end, so it is 400/700= 55% damage increase for over 30% atk improvement For penentration let's say it reduce or ignore Def. 30% x 600 def= 180 damage more or 180 - def "ignore" . 1000- 600 +180 damage= 580 damage, so 400/580 ~ 30% damage increase.
@@stringdoll50 defense shred is a common slang term for game mechanics that reduce enemy armor/defenses. As for the atk vs pen. Your net damage is a factor of many things, but because of how multiplication works, (atk-def)*stuff = total damage. If the total of atk-def is doubled, your total damage is doubled. Same goes for a 10% or 50% increase to the total of atk-defense. With 1000 atk, and 600 enemy defense, (atk - def) = 1000-600 = 400 If you add 50% penetration, you reduce the enemies defense by 50% -> def*(100%-50%) -> 600*(50%) = 600*.5 = 300 Which would change the prior 1000-600 to 1000-300 = 700 700 divided by the previous 400 = 700/400 = 1.75x dps, for a 75% increase On the flip side, if you increased atk by 50%, you'd get 1000*(100%+50%)-> 1000*(1.5) = 1500 Which changes the (1000atk - 600def) -> (1500atk-600def) = 900 900 divided by the old 400 = 900/400 = 9/4 = 2.25 -> 125% increase in total damage

I believe that enemies either have some amount of DMG Reduction, or have a non-whole number of DEF (on that note characters may also have a non-whole number of ATK that is rounded when displayed) Even after removing all his Ideas, my Regulus can deal an odd amount of damage when dealing 200% of his ATK as DMG. It's especially odd since you'd think that at least ATK, DEF and skill damage scaling would be straightforward, so those are my two best explanations Edit: After testing, I suspect it's more likely DMG Reduction. This is because I calc-ed the DEF of the enemy based off Regulus's ATK and it worked out well, assuming the enemy had 0% Crit DEF, then all four attacks' damage were rounded to the actual values, but when testing for four other characters with less ATK than Regulus they all did more damage than expected, but those with higher attack values were closer. This aligns with what you would expect if it was DMG Reduction. Though, I need much more tests though for anything conclusive. I'm testing against the star enemy in the first wave of the first fight in Artificial Somnambulism. I've calc-ed out the theoretical Mental DMG and DMG Reduction of said star enemy, at ~150.333 Mental DEF and ~0.8% lol. Also, crits have the most variation though, but in both directions (ie. 0.49 more than accurate, 0.49 less than accurate), so idk how to interpret that. Also... there has to be a way to do with on desmos or something such that I don't need to manually type in different values every time...
