Hey friends, if you're struggling as a drummer I feel you. I get that feeling more than you think! What are some tips you could recommend to other drummers that could help them out?

Don't forget to have fun! Drums aren't all about exercises, and it's important to play music you feel as well.

It's a good life lesson. Your perception of how life is, you concentrate on negative it's going to seem negative, same with positive. The bad is there and is a guage to the good. I too have had to reflect on this stuff for about 6 1/2 years. It was the hardest years of my life. We are both here. I try to encourage anyone I can, because I know how it feels. No matter what, a person is their own worst enemy. You are the only one that can change what happens or at least how you react. I am glad I am not the only one that sees things this way.

To be honest I don’t really have a passion for drumming in itself, it’s just something that my therapist recommended to me as stress relief, coping mechanisms, meeting people and so on. I do lessons once a week and I will say that I enjoy learning the drums, however more often than not I really struggle to get myself to actually attend, and I’m never looking forward to it. However I find that when I actually leave the lesson, I’m sad it’s over. I just wish I could feel more motivated to actually go rather than get that buzz when I leave.

Despite the fact I am currently in the process of learning one of my bands new songs for our upcoming album, I definitely feel like I've hit a wall and haven't had the drive to put the work into it because of how hard I've been going over the last year with MULTIPLE other recording projects.
Took a couple of weeks off. Focused more on just working out and cleaning my house and it helped so much. The next time I sat down at my kit I felt so rejuvenated. It's rough!

It's frustrating, but i'm sure you're glad to have stepped away just to enjoy everything else that's happening. All the best in your future endeavours John! 🤘

Hey dude, I was searching for a video like this, thanks for making this. So I'm a drummer in a local metal band, I'm only 16 and female and the rest of the guys in the band are way older. And we're part of a small local scene of rock and metal music, which is kinda cool. But I can't help feeling like an imposter, cause I keep seeing the guys from the other bands drum some insane tuplets or super fast double bass and they're much older, but somehow we're supposed to be on the same level, which makes it kinda weird. Soon we're all gonna play at a festival together and I don't want em to see me like this young drummer from that local band that can't do this and can't do that. I've been drumming for 2½ years and I'm probably not bad considering the time and the rest of the guys in the band are super happy with me and everyone that came around to band practice watching us play was impressed with me, unrightfully tho. I'm not like that crazy good, but it keeps motivated to keep progressing, cause I know I can be so much better. I just guess I'm like way too concerned about what people think about me yk, but at the same time all the people that have given me compliments were all non-drummers, so I've never really heard a drummer review my playing. Kinda afraid

Hey Joan, sounds like what you're dealing with is called imposter syndrome. Great news though, we all have it. No matter your playing level or whether you're playing in stadiums or basement shows. All musicians of all levels have it. Don't be so tough on yourself, just keep up the awesome work. Also, don't be afraid of honest feedback. The most honest information is the most transformative (when applied), even though it might sting a little. If you ever have any specific drumming questions feel free to send me an email: cameron@cameronfleury.com

Also I’m curious as to what the backing music is? If it’s your own work or downloaded. Sounds ace ♠️

You know what I'm supper thankful for....not being born in a war zone. I love having legs/eyes/ears. The opportunity to improve....and most of all Jesus. I am very aware how un-popular that is and I don't give a foook.
