  • AphogeeKeratin 2 Minute Reconstructor And Aphogee Pro Vitamin Leave In Conditioner are the two products that I attempted to pair with with Melanin Twist Elongating Style Cream and the Melanin Multipurpose Oil. It was an epic fail in my opinion. :-(.
Let me know if you have ever used the Aphogee Pro Vitamin Leave In Conditioner and what affect it had on your hair. Also, remember to share this channel with your friends on social media. Leave your comments below and share any insights that you think might help others.

Thanks for taking us on your hair journey. Many of your issues are also my issues. Finding the right balance of protein and moisture has been tricky for me, too. On a bright note, the melanin products gave you amazing definition! 🤗

I've noticed after giving myself a protein treatment, my low porosity hair does feel very dry and stiff. That's what your Aphogee treatment experience reminds me of. What I do after a protein treatment is treat my hair with a deep conditioning treatment to soften my hair. I agree, your gray hair, especially, does have a lot of definition. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, I agree that deep conditioning after any protein treatment is key for healthy hair. But that Aphogee leave in is not for me!

I normally make sure that my other products do not contain protein after my aphogee otherwise it's protein on top of protein the will cause your hair to feel dry.

Verendia Stanley Yes, dryness is a real thing when it comes to those treatments. Now, I might end up with several different shampoos in my stash.🤓 some for moisture and others for strengthening.

The ONLY APHOGEE product I use now is the KERATIN GREEN TEA RESTRUCTURIZER. Helps in small spritzes to avoid roughness on my twists. Not chemical free but my hair likes it. Used to use the 2minute when I was still relaxing my hair many years ago.

Btw, I love the way your hair looks. Nice definition.

Your hair the definition of the twist outs looks really good. I have never tried the Aphogee Keratin 2 Minute Reconstructor, but when you said it made your hair dry. I will not use it, but would like to try the Melanin Twist Elongating Style Cream. Most of the time I use Shimming Lights for my gray hair and roll it up in plastic rollers to dry over night. The next day I spray water to moisterize my hair and use olive Oil on my scalp and white shea butter or grease on it to do the two strand twist. Thanks for the information about the other products such as leave in conditioner and protein products.

You are very welcome. :-). By the way, it was the Aphogee Pro-V Leave In conditioner that made my hair dry because of the silicon in it; not the 2 Minute Reconstructor.

Your hair looks fabulous. Maybe you can try adding some glycerin to that conditioner.

I started using clear Knox gelatin after watching Nappyfu. I was going through the same thing in the hair aisle. My grays have needed more protein lately than my regular curls. Do you think it may have been overload using both for your curls? Which by the way are quite lovely. 😍

Tamara Jenkins Thank you! That’s something I had not considered. But, I have noticed that products with silicons seem to dry my hair. 🤔

The reason your hair was dry is because that product is a protein leave in. All Aphogee products are protein based. You used the 2 minute reconstructor which is protein and added a protein leave in. That is why your hair felt like that. It wasn’t because of those ingredients you were trying to read.

aaaahhhhhh! I didn't know that I was adding protein on top of protein. That makes perfect sense to me.

So I just checked and my hair strands floated then when I shooked the container they sunked to the bottom. So do I have low porosity hair? It has been recently relaxed.

Katherin Clayton You have to do it when it is freshly washed. Take the samples out of your hair from different sections and mark them BEFORE you condition and let them dry. Then try the test again.

Silicones, and more proteins are in the leave in conditioner from Aphogee. A lack of concern from the beauty industry as usual. Not touching that!

@@TheSilverCrownNaturalGreyHair I've seen SODIUM PEROXIDE in conditioner ingredients. RELAXER!!! They low-key put relaxer in some conditioners! I find myself using stuff from the kitchen more and more, I tell ya!
