Here is my Ranking of Terminator Franchise: 1. Terminator 2: Judgement Day (1991) 2. The Terminator (1984) 3. Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles I don't consider any of those Sequels that came after T2 as *Canon* but if I had to rank them, it would look like this: 4. Terminator: Salvation 5. Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines 6. Terminator: Dark Fate 7. Terminator: Genisys
T2 should have ended the franchise, but I will give Salvation credit for being a solid underrated film, IMO. The others are just trash, although T3 isn't my least favorite anymore. I did once say that it was, but that felt like a phase of forced anger looking back. I still hate it, but it has more going for it than Genisys, IMO. The first two need no explanation though. Terminator 1 is in my top 10 and Terminator 2 is my favorite movie of all time.
I'm glad more people are slowly realizing that the Sarah Connor Chronicles is just as good as the first two films. It genuinely went places that not only elevates Cameron's films, but expands them in genuinely meaningful ways.
My boy Adams has balls. He put The Terminator as number 1. I was the only one for the longest time who put The Terminator over Terminator Judgement Day because it was a literal action thriller done extremely right. It's almost like a horror movie. I agree with what you said about the original Terminator being a horror movie. To be honest, I feel like you could have put the images of Sarah Connor next to images of Ellen Ripley to make a better point, seeing as how Aliens was an action movie directed by James Cameron after a horror movie.
Good review overall, nothing beats The Terminator from 1984 for me, far superior to everything else that came after for many reasons, it's not even close, that movie is a masterpiece, perfect from beginning to end. Including T2 Judgement Day wich has clear flaws in my opinion. I agree that Salvation was very underrated, they used excellent practical's effects, the best Kyle Reese after Michael Biehn, the T-600, and finally it gave us a glimpse of the future's war. Even if it didn't nail the dark tone with purple lasers of T1 or T2, it was still pretty good, and it didn't recycle the same overused and overrated T2's formula. I obviously wouldn't put SCC over T1, but once again i agree that it was a very good serie. Certainly much better than most of the movie sequels.
My rankings for the terminator franchise 1. Terminator 2 judgement day 2. Terminator 3.Terminator Sara Conner 4. Terminator dark Fate 5. Terminator 3 rise of the machines 6. Terminator genysis 7. Terminator salvation
I agree the original is even better than T2. It is dark, gritty, and has such an amazing 80s vibe that we will never see again. Also Michael Biehn was outstanding as Kyle Reese. And you were actually afraid they will die in that movie. I never once thought they were in real danger in T2 when Arnold was protecting them.
Salvation is indeed the best film post T2. Your argument against it being a prequel has one problem, the events of T3 are NEVER MENTIONED, not a bit. You could skip Rise Of The Machines and not miss a thing, so clearly it does not work as a sequel. Also, as to your points, in the original Kyle said they were more active at night, he did not say they did not operate in day at all. As for Kyle, he is still John's father biologically so he has to go back. Third, the Terminator here is a prototype and Skynet was clearly playing with its prey like an animal predator would because now it only sees him as an annoyance.
Mercenary Knight Just because they don’t mention T3 doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. They don’t mention anything to do with T2 in the movie at all either and the fact that John is married to Kate does suggest that T3 did happen.
@@l.pricetag.5207 Well look at this way, it was likely done as a way not to piss off fans of the third film and it can be viewed without having seen T3. Also, T2 does get nods and references made so I disagree there.
@@mercenaryknight5419 well... no? Not only is John married to Kate but the movie makes it clear that Judgement Day occurred in the early 2000s, it says so in the opening text and Marcus was executed in 2003, but it’s only T3 that tells us that Judgement Day was pushed back to 2004 instead of 1997. Imagine if Salvation really was the third movie and it just says “oh no, judgement day still happens despite T2’s events” that’d be pretty cheap and disappointing. And the T-1 from T3 also returns and the only way in which Skynet can know about Kyle being John’s father is because the T-X uploaded the information in T3. You could watch Salvation without watching T3 but it would just create so many questions for the viewers. The only reference to T2 I found in Salvation was the song John played to trick the Motor Terminator and that’s all I think there was so it does have more T3 and T1 references than it does T2.
There is 2 kinds of fans when it comes to Terminator 1 and Terminator 2 ones that prefer it to be a action movie, and those who prefer a more horror slasher type terminator. This also follows the 2 Alien movies Alien and Aliens ones a horror slasher type and the other is more action focused.
Having yet to see the Sarah Chronicles series, yours is the only ranking I respect from those I've seen so far. Terminator Salvation is a great movie, and Terminator is WAY better than T2.
I appreciate the support. I have never understood the hate for Salvation and, while I admit it's a fantastic film, I don't get why T2 is always praised over the original. But hey, it's all opinion. And you should definitely watch SCC. It will be the best 20 bucks you'll ever spend at Wal Mart, I promise you. Again, thank you 😁
Did you ever see the Terminator 2 3-D show at Universal Studios? Ironically that was how I was introduced to the Terminator series, same with the Back to the Future ride.
I actually disagree with the whole "No Fate But What We Make for Ourselves" moral being dicked over in T3. Yes, on one hand, by its mere existence T3 takes away from the power of the pitch-perfect ambiguous note that T2 ended on. But on the other hand, despite the wording of the "Judgment Day is inevitable" line, the movie, as its events unfold, goes to show the fate that we made for ourselves - and it was the wrong one. Remember when Kyle said in the first movie that "we trusted the machines to run it all"? That's what happens in T3 when Kate's father chooses to activate Skynet and let it take care of the problem. So, no, despite the poor wording of the aforementioned line, I personally don't think that T3 contradicts the moral of the first two movies, but rather reaffirms it in its own way. In fact, if you look at the state of the world today and our ever-persistent pursuit of creating AI, T3 has actually gotten better with age. I do agree about some of the comedy, though. The whole scene of the T-850 obtaining clothes and a shotgun should have been left on the cutting room floor. If nothing else, it would have made the "Talk to the hand" moment in the gas station actually funny because, being that we already know the drill by now, we would have put 2 and 2 together as to how he learned it. Admittedly, it would've been even better if he had said "Fuck you, asshole" instead, referencing the first movie, but that's neither here nor there.
What made me upset about genisys is that they had matt smith in the movie.....yes, you heard me right, the 11th doctor himself is in terminator genisys, what the hell?!?
I think there's an argument to be made that the T-1000 is more imposing, in a sense, than its predecessor, precisely _because_ of its traditionally underwhelming external appearance (much in the same way, perhaps, that children are often seen as inherently 'creepy'). In other words, its threat level could easily be underestimated based on visual cues and intuition (compounded, moreover, by the fact that it poses as a police officer throughout the course of its mission). The overtly ominous and intimidating size and appearance of the T-800, on the other hand, serve as clear warning signals of danger to all who encounter it, if not indeed as dead giveaways, and its design and deployment could thus be viewed as poor tactical choices on the parts of Cyberdyne and Skynet.
It's brute force scary vs. subtle creepy scary. The TX had neither (she was "too sexy" to be intimidating). The Rev9 has a mix of both with his own brand of friendly, uncanny valley devlish-ness that makes him brutal and creepy.
Actually, you're wrong about Arnie not getting advertised as the protector. It was infamously shown in trailers that Arnie was the good guy and Patrick was the bad guy. And James Cameron was fucking pissed too.
Actually terminator wasn't james Cameron's debut it was piranha II the spawning I know that other filmmakers were involved too but james was also involved with that
The Terminator - 10/10 Terminator 2: Judgment Day - 9/10 Gap Terminator: Salvation - 7/10 Gap Terminator: Dark Fate - 5.5/10 Gap Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines - 4/10 Terminator: Genisys - 3.10
I remember watching the first episode of The Sarah Connor Chronicles and not liking it at all. Your ranking has made me consider giving it another chance.
I've just seen terminator dark fate and this is my ranking of all 6 terminator films BEST to WORST T3 T2 TS T1 TDF TG What do you think of my ranking? FilmmasterAdam?
While I feel they should've stopped after Judgment Day, the beginning of Dark Fate makes sense to me in a way. John Conner and Skynet are linked, no Skynet no John Conner. Time travel paradoxes can be a pain.
My ranking of the terminator films BEST to WORST apart from dark fate which I haven't seen and can't afford to see. T2 T1 T3 TS TG What do you think of my ranking? Adam?
For me only the first 3 films matter but I’ll give my ranking list for all them anyway from top to bottom. 1. The Terminator 1984 objectively it’s by far the best film in the franchise. 2. Terminator 3 Rise Of The Machines My personal favorite in the franchise and the most faithful sequel to the original. 3. Terminator 2 Judgement Day Massively overrated colorful happy wave movie that contradicts and convoluted the story that was set in the original. 4. Terminator Salvation wasn’t a necessary sequel but it had the right idea it was just terribly executed. 5. Terminator Dark Fate this honestly isn’t a bad sequel to T2 it actually stays faithful to the ideas that were implemented in T2. As for a lot of dark fate’s issues they line up perfectly with the dumb ideas that were shown in T2. 6. Terminator Genysis such a chore to get through with the dumbest plot it’s not even entertaining by far the worst one.
Worst to best: Dark Fate - 1/10 (What the fuck was this) Genesys - 3/10 (Liked Arnold & Emilia) Salvation - 7/10 (Great Ideas) Rise of the Machines - 8/10 (Surprisingly fun) Judgment Day - 10/10 (Do I need to say anything) The Terminator - 10/10 (Do I need to say anything)
I like Genisys and I definitely did not like dark fate. The one thing about Genisys that could have been done differently in my personal opinion was the Kyle Reese actor. The one character I actually had no problem with in dark fate was Grace. Yes she was a rip-off of the Marcus Wright character from salvation, but she was still a decent character. You are right about Kyle Reese in Terminator Salvation. The actor definitely nailed the part. The only good part in T3 was the end of the world. Very good review. I personally like Terminator 1, 2, and Genisys. The others, no.
My ranking: T1 T2 Dark Fate Genisys T3 Salvation Dark Fate actually is THE ONLY sequel that didn't screw over the concept of "Not Fate But We Make" by showing that we can change the course of the future, but there are consequences. Not everything is be a nicely gift wrapped sugary sweet sunshine and rainbows ending. It was fairly realistic in that regard. Also, it lives up to T2's concept of it being human nature "to destroy ourselves." The creation of a new AI threat via hyper surveillance and the ensuing resource wars where he bomb the shit out of ourselves after Legion's black out great exemplifies this. But T3, really? Killing Sarah off screen via cancer and showcasing a pussy version of John? Really? That's fucking satire. At least Dark Fate is more of a serious attempt. And killing John was FAR more ballsy for the shock value alone. Plus, it gave the franchise a chance to FINALLY move AWAY from the Connors already. It had 3 chances to show Adult John and they failed miserably. Besides, he was never really all that much of the focus anyway, SARAH was. Dark Fate continues HER arc. Salvation is boring af. It's a PG 13 forgone conclusion that serves no purpose. And with time travel involved and the whole causal loop aspect (with heavy emphasis on Kyle) MAKES it a prequel. Plus, the throwanator is simply unforgivable. I can't believe you put these two above Dark Fate.
For me it goes like this: Terminator 2 Terminator Terminator Salvation Terminator Dark Fate Terminator 3 Terminator Genisys Your speech about every sequel after T2 making that ending irrelevant is really thought provoking. It gives the question as to why this franchise couldn’t just end after two films. I still feel that Terminator 3 is the laziest, most poorly made, and most cringe worthy spit in the face. Also, I want to rewatch Salvation, since I feel I treated it unfairly. EDIT: Forget what I said about T3 being the worst, I guess thinking about it made me snap in a certain way and my insane hatred felt like forced anger, looking back. I guess I just REALLY hated the comedy, inconsistent tone, the T-X, and how it made T2 pointless. There are good things about T3 though, the action is awesome (especially the action in the third act), the practical effects are great (CGI sucks though), and the ending was still a ballsy move that I have to give credit for, as well as being a nice sequence. I still hate the movie, but I find Genisys to be worse and less enjoyable, so that’s why I swapped the two at the bottom.
worst to best: 7-) Dark Fate 6.) Rise of the Machines 5.) Genesys (....gap in quality) 4.) Sarah Connor Chronicles 3.) Salvation 2.) T 1 1.) Judgment Day
1. Terminator 2. Terminator 2 3. Dark Horse's Comic Line 4. Rest Until Dark Fate is a bunch of bullshits 5. Dark Fate : in short name lives up its reputation
1. Judgement Day 2. The Terminator 3. Salvation 4. Rise of the Machines 5. Genisys 6. Dark Fate (Sorry, but Genisys took longer than Dark Fate to fuck up the mythology. 2 minutes are you serious?) As for the Sarah Connor Chronicles, I'm sorry, but its so bad. We learn nothing about Sarah that we didn't already know, it's the Sarah Connor Chronicles when the show is more about John and Cameron, John wants to bone a Terminator, Cameron's personality is inconsitant, the dream sequences are shallow and unnecessary, the CG is crap, even for a TV show, the direction is often poor, the villains are unintimidating. Oh and remember the rule established first movie? We can't travel forward in time....... Yeah, they do that.
"Number One is The Sarah Connor Chronicles." Umm... ua-cam.com/video/3KMptamitPM/v-deo.html ...Yeah. P.S. I agree with you on how T1 is the best film, but THE BLOODY SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES?! *REALLY?!*

4. T-4. Salvation
3. T-5. Genisys
2. T-1.
1. T-2. Judgement day
Salvation is indeed the best film post T2.
Again, thank you 😁
@@FilmMasterAdam I Love both Terminator 1&2. I don't think neither one is better. I just like both. Same with Godfather and Alien.
Did you ever see the Terminator 2 3-D show at Universal Studios? Ironically that was how I was introduced to the Terminator series, same with the Back to the Future ride.
love them all, but:
6. Salvation
5. Genisys
4. Dark Fate
3. Rise of the Machines
2. The Terminator
1. Judgment Day
I actually disagree with the whole "No Fate But What We Make for Ourselves" moral being dicked over in T3.
06 Rise of the machines
05. Salvation
04. Genisys
03. Dark fate
02. The terminator
01. Judgement day
What made me upset about genisys is that they had matt smith in the movie.....yes, you heard me right, the 11th doctor himself is in terminator genisys, what the hell?!?
Great choice for #1! Summer Glau is masterful as a T-900! BTW, who would win in a fight, Cameron, or River Tam? lol
6 dark fate
5 Genesis
4 rise of machines

Please do a 'ranking all the star wars films' video.
He ain't gonna do it.
What would even be the point if the so-called fans made Star Wars no longer fun to discuss?
The Terminator - 10/10
Terminator 2: Judgment Day - 9/10
Gap
Terminator: Salvation - 7/10
Gap
Terminator: Dark Fate - 5.5/10
Gap
Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines - 4/10
Terminator: Genisys - 3.10
You missed Fox's cancellation of Futurama. :P
I remember watching the first episode of The Sarah Connor Chronicles and not liking it at all. Your ranking has made me consider giving it another chance.
I've just seen terminator dark fate and this is my ranking of all 6 terminator films BEST to WORST
T3
T2
TS
T1
TDF
TG
What do you think of my ranking? FilmmasterAdam?
Actually in Terminator 1984, Sarah is 19 years old
While I feel they should've stopped after Judgment Day, the beginning of Dark Fate makes sense to me in a way. John Conner and Skynet are linked, no Skynet no John Conner. Time travel paradoxes can be a pain.
Haven't watched the video the video the whole way through yet but i bet the terminator is second place and terminator 2 is first place.
I was close but wrong
Terminator 4 is great
Did he say Katherine Brewster was played by Taylor Danes?
My rankings - T2, T2 3D BAT, T1, TSSC, T3, TS, TG, TDF
7 genesys
6 salvation
5 rise of the machine
4 dark fate
3 Sarah connor chronicles
2 terminator
1 judgement day
My ranking of the terminator films BEST to WORST apart from dark fate which I haven't seen and can't afford to see.
T2
T1
T3
TS
TG
What do you think of my ranking?
Worst to best:
Dark Fate - 1/10 (What the fuck was this)
Genesys - 3/10 (Liked Arnold & Emilia)
Salvation - 7/10 (Great Ideas)
Rise of the Machines - 8/10 (Surprisingly fun)
Judgment Day - 10/10 (Do I need to say anything)
The Terminator - 10/10 (Do I need to say anything)
you forgot T2 3-D:Battle Across Time 1996 ‧ Action/Sci-fi
My personal favorite is the second one, and the worst genisys.
I agree with that .
Top 7? There's only 6 movies where is 7 what is
*Gets to number 1*
OHHHHHHHHHHHHHH..........yep forgot about that
Adam do you have social media?
Christian bale is the best John Conor
Where are you Adam?
The comedy in rise of machines was better than iron man threes comedy
Liam Patrick the ending song for iron man 3
TSCC FOR LIFE!
FilmMasterAdam do you think studio fucked over terminator dark fate? that is reason why terminator dark fate is so bad.
I’ disagree they are not. That good.
3 to go
4
@@FilmMasterAdam Really? I thought I counted 10... Huh, well, even better!
I liked terminator genisys
I like Genisys and I definitely did not like dark fate. The one thing about Genisys that could have been done differently in my personal opinion was the Kyle Reese actor. The one character I actually had no problem with in dark fate was Grace. Yes she was a rip-off of the Marcus Wright character from salvation, but she was still a decent character. You are right about Kyle Reese in Terminator Salvation. The actor definitely nailed the part. The only good part in T3 was the end of the world. Very good review. I personally like Terminator 1, 2, and Genisys. The others, no.
My ranking:
T1
T2
Dark Fate
Genisys
T3
Salvation
Dark Fate actually is THE ONLY sequel that didn't screw over the concept of "Not Fate But We Make" by showing that we can change the course of the future, but there are consequences.
I'm proud to say that I've only watched the Terminator and Judgement Day. Never cared for any of the other movies
For me it goes like this:
Terminator 2
Terminator
Terminator Salvation
Terminator Dark Fate
Terminator 3
Terminator Genisys
Your speech about every sequel after T2 making that ending irrelevant is really thought provoking.
I still hate the movie, but I find Genisys to be worse and less enjoyable, so that’s why I swapped the two at the bottom.
worst to best:
7-) Dark Fate
6.) Rise of the Machines
5.) Genesys
(....gap in quality)
4.) Sarah Connor Chronicles
3.) Salvation
2.) T 1
1.) Judgment Day
6. Genisys
5. Dark Fate
Big jump
4. Terminator 3
3. The Terminator
2. Terminator Salvation
1. Terminator 2
TSCC is FORGETTABLE
Dark Fate started off just like Alien 3. Doesn't matter if the movie was great or not. I would care to see it again.
1. Terminator
2. Terminator 2
3. Dark Horse's Comic Line
4. Rest Until Dark Fate is a bunch of bullshits
5. Dark Fate : in short name lives up its reputation
1. Judgement Day
2. The Terminator
3. Salvation
4. Rise of the Machines
5. Genisys
6. Dark Fate (Sorry, but Genisys took longer than Dark Fate to fuck up the mythology. 2 minutes are you serious?)
As for the Sarah Connor Chronicles, I'm sorry, but its so bad.
1.The Terminator
2.T2 Judgement Day
.......The rest don't exist in my world...Hence no franchise just a sequel.
"Number One is The Sarah Connor Chronicles."
Umm...
ua-cam.com/video/3KMptamitPM/v-deo.html
...Yeah.
P.S. I agree with you on how T1 is the best film, but THE BLOODY SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES?! *REALLY?!*
Dark Fate is the most boring Terminator movie imo. Only like the first 4. Third one is a masterpiece compared to Dark Fate.
Terminator salvation was trash the story the actors where used bad
Terminator dark fate was trash the worst movie
