Go back and check the view count talking vs. ASMR. I'm not complaining...it would be nice though, to get the same level of support from the talking videos so it made sense not to do ASMR...just saying!
I agree with you, I dont watch any of the asmr videos. I feel like he will lose his true fans. The whole point of this channel is to learn and share interests. Cant do that with no commentary.
The Wooded Beardsman why not upload the commentating on a second channel. I love learning about this sort of stuff and was excited to see this video but then got 16 minutes of buckets and tapping Edit: chase that bread you get bare views on asmr
Lots of comments saying they prefer tallking vids. I'll say I like both, but actually prefer this video most of the time for it's relaxing nature. Although it's not true ASMR, (a feeling I never quite experience anyway) I still find these videos quite entertaining. Not to take away from your regular videos, they're great, but as an ASMR fan there is something quite relaxing about watching you just do your thing.
February was always the time we tapped maple trees. I miss doing this so much. I’ve been unable to winter camp over the years because of work. I live vicariously through your channel and my other favorite Firebox Stove.
lots of people complaining about the ASMR thing... but I enjoyed every bit of the video. My family has a 3rd generation passed on sugar shack that we all go to when it's maple syrup time, we collect the maple water just like you do (expect we use OG steel buckets lol) but the family couldn't go this year because of the virus outbreak. Seing and hearing all this warmed my hearth a bit lol
I'm getting ready to tap mine now. Good vid. Wish I could make it back to North Bay. Spent the night there one time back in 1991 on my way to Matachewan. Met the greatest fellow there. His hospitality was great for us. Showed us around North Bay.
Planning on making a syrup run in 2 weeks if the temps cooperate here in central Missouri. Like your setup. I need to upgrade from a stock pot and turkey fryer. It takes way to long to boil down.
You guys got me hooked on Maple Syrup. I live in Pennsylvania USA. It is now my most expensive habit !!! I know why though. It’s a lot of work from what I have seen you guys do over the years.
Pretty sure what we get here in the states isn’t hand harvested and brewed like the good stuff is. Ours is probably from a sap with a sap farm gravity fed hoses running down the mountain sides. Thanks for the great videos, guys.
"I used to enjoy this channel. Then I realized not all of the content is catered to my specific liking so acting like the spoiled and selfish child I am I will complain that not everything is about what I like." Fixed it for you @Littlecat10
You’re awesome by the way. I love the way you live man. I’m a city boy but I recently moved to PA. I’m not in the sticks but close enough and I can’t wait till my boy is old enough to take camping. I give him another year. He’s pretty attached to his screens already but I plan to break that habit with some outdoor fun before it’s set in to deep lol. Thanks for sharing brother.
I get nervous every time I see that ghetto stove conversion haha... especially when it had a mean lean to it and looked like a stiff breeze would knock it over. I am glad it didnt and you got a good harvest of maple syrup. And i hope this year you have a better apparatus for your boil ;)
I could never drink maple syrup like its water but props to you lol, I understand though because you made it yourself, all I've got is store bought crap
What is the secret to making it thick like that without crystallizing? I’ve been trying for 2 years. My first try was a little thin and my second mostly crystallized. Thanks
Woot, woot I'm the 715th like.. Silence is golden... Keep up the great videos.. Zack Fowler No freaking way... I'm his biggest fan and I'm ( fingers crossed) going to win his SWAG at the end of the month on the 29th... TTFN
Was the viscosity a personal preference or is that typical in Canada? In the US, all the real maple syrup I've gotten at the store is the same color but thinner and more watery.
Maple sap doesn't flow in February -- the ambient temperature is way too cold here in Canada. However, what I would like to see is the installation of the poly tube lines that connect from one tree to the next, and ultimately dump several trees worth of sap into one large bucket. Quebec sappers have perfected this method in the Eastern Township part of the Province -- but it takes a rising hill behind the Sugar Shack to really make use of gravity. Still, it would be neat to see how it is done.
Hi bearded woodsman great quality post im sure it wood be more interesting for us veiwers to tag along on ur projects and such to receive so.e play by play as to ur projects as ur filming. U hav that annoying muzak. Thanks for the ride along👍
Dang Chris you need to give away a weekend camping adventure..I would hang out with you.. quick question about how long does it take to cook up a batch of syrup..lol and that looks tasty, but brother those pancakes are not going to win any awards for presentation...lol
The maple syrup is already flowing in Ontario? This is really early! I made my own syrup last year for the first time, but i could never get its consistently right after 3 different boils. The first batch was too thick, and chrystalized in a few days. In fact my 1st batch has the exact same consistency that yours has when pouring it on the pancakes the same day that is was made. I am guessing your syrup here had probably chrystalized as it seems a bit too thick. My 2nd and 3rd batches were too thin and watery. Ofcourse i did this without a thermometer. I tried the old 40 - 1 ratio but this still didnt produce the consistency that i was looking for. In the end i just made candy with the syrup. thanks!
Dude them pancakes / banana and maple syrup 👌🏼😋, fry banana with it next time 😉, but on the syrup do u add anything to thicken it etc? Or is it just a matter of boiling it down till it thickens ? The pot of it u put on the stove was that just u making a smaller portion to show the final product ? Cos if it’s this simple I’m tapping a maple tree to try it but on a much smaller scale, I understand it takes a lot of tapped water from the tree to boil it down to a syrup or Atleast that’s what I think from what I seen in the vid, but if I collected say a 5gallon drum of tapped water/ syrup would that be enough to make say a glass jar??
Now it seems he's giving his brother the silent treatment like he does to Jeremy. His bro gave it right back to him. Chris looked intimidated? Not sure. Hahaha
Hey man I'm having a hard time IRL finding a "good job" obviously if I choose to do youtube, it will take some time. What is your profession in or what were some jobs you held on your way to where you are today? Right now there are just restaurant and driving jobs (which I've done for the past 7 years) and I am reallly having a hard time finding some work I genuinely enjoy. I'm starting to just dread my day to day life and come to your vids to escape. Any feedback or what the people in your family do as a profession to give me some ideas would really help. Thanks in advance As a sidenote, I am starting to enjoy the ASMR videos, though I still much more prefer the talking. Cheers
I have done painting, renovations, roofing, two online book businesses, 2 other YT channels, investment properties, helped a guy run his Masters Degree, ran a hockey skating school....and on and on. I did YT when I got bored of being a property manager full time. Keep at it, make life worthwhile.
Have you seen Alexis Outdoors on UA-cam? You should do a double couple collab with them. Would be cool! I think she uses a similar fold up saw as yours.
now, no way you can tell me that those pancakes with fresh cutup fruit and fresh made maple syrup don't out and out beat the hell out of eating a squirrel, or some other wild known or unknown meat. (mystery meat).............thanks for sharing.
I know a lot of people like the ASMR... But is there any way you can do a commented version as well? Maybe cut the talking clips out and make a compilation of them for us. Your OG fans would appreciate!
Full stop! Pancakes looked tasty! Loved the video as usual! Now! Woodbeard, let me start by apologizing to you because of what I'm fixing to say. I know that you don't need or want any negative comments. I have been a member for over a year & a subscriber longer than that. I have watched all but a handful of your videos and some more than 2 or 3 times. UA-cam has a ton of restrictions & requirements to be able to make a living using them. About why he was going to make them & the need for them. Not every person on the planet speaks english guys & gals. Sure, I bet some of you think the world revolves around you. There are days, I think it revolves around me but it doesn't. A large percentage, like 99%, of the negative comments are coming from subscribers that are not even members of his channel. Maybe if some of you guys would commit to being members of the channel, he wouldn't need to make the ASMR videos. It's a better solution than to argue like a bunch of high school girls. It is very expensive to do the adventures he does & still care for his family. He has a responsibility to them as most of you can relate. Ok rant over & I hope everyone has a nice evening! ☺
Thanks Rhonda! I'm not too worried about the bad comments. I guess it comes with the channel now. I would hope they see what you do, not every video is made for everyone! Heck, all these videos have talking versions anyway if they would bother to have a look for them!
I'd like to suggest when you do your "silent" videos that you call them non narrated and that you at least talk to one another even if you aren't talking to the camera it's creepy otherwise. Other than that I love this video it's really cool when you make maple syrup and even though I live in California it makes me want to do the same thing. Not sure if we actually have maple trees around where I live. Maybe if I go up higher into the Sierras but I still am not sure.
*Working on edits from a trip to Vermont with Alex Peric and Zach Fowler. Keep an eye out, coming soon!*
I will woods beard u can almost expect a thumbs up like 👍👍👍
Sweet, can't wait!
Can't wait. I always love more content. Vocal or not.
Alex Peric? Really? Seems like your selling out.
You are delicious maple syrup and pancakes! Working hard to make a syrup is a natural reward!
Syrup making video was first video of yours I ever saw and reason I subscribed to this channel. TY
Do you get a lot of positive feedback on this ASMR stuff? I prefer to hear you talk and explain stuff. Although that's just my opinion.

I actually enjoyed this video. It’s relaxing, just watching the whole process from start to finish.
I almost teared up when the buckets tipped
Great job making fresh maple syrup. The pancakes looked excellent, nice, & crisp!
@2:54 woods beard omg wat a precious moment 👏👏👏👍👍👍I love that family is everything 👏👏👏👏
I really don’t like these silent videos. But your normal talking videos are great
that syrup looks so good! i might have to do something on my channel for my tasty tuesdays series 😂

Just want to also point out I've been subbed for like 2 years to give some perspective on my enjoyment of the channel
Thanks. Good video. I learned a lot. Just getting into Maple syrup making. Best
This was a real treat to watch.
For an ASMR vid, this one is truly noisy banging, clanking, whirrrring, whooshing vid.
February was always the time we tapped maple trees. I miss doing this so much. I’ve been unable to winter camp over the years because of work. I live vicariously through your channel and my other favorite Firebox Stove.
Wow just never thought you and ap bassin would colab, 2 totally different personalities. Can't wait!!!

Sipping home made maple syrup right from the jar is the most *Canadian* thing I've ever seen.
Jokes aside I bet that is freaking delicious.
Everyone loves it...better than from the store! It's got a nice smoky flavor!
@@TheWoodedBeardsman I'd pay good money for some of that.

Definitely saw you slapping the shovel on ground🤣 while you were looking at the burner after you shoveled the porch
Thanks for uploading awesome content WB
This is where the sticky-icky-icky that Snoop Dogg sings aboot comes from.

And then there's this clip 0:16
Full stop, you look like the happiest man on earth at the end of this video and I'm jealous!! Haha, great stuff as always, keep it up man.
You should mix a drink of rum with the maple sugar water it’s delicious!!!
Wow soo nice idea
I used to enjoy this channel. Then ASMR happened. 🤷🏻♂️
Winter is slow, but still, 1 vid a week is still talking.
What is ASMR ?

Woah there canada that's a mighty sassy name for a homeless shelter
Awesome, Thanks
How many trees to fill a bucket ?
Which bucket? We usually let them fill up..takes a couple days to fill each one or so.
Is Maple syrup expensive there? because in the UK it's about 8 bucks US , for a quarter of a pint.
Awesome always wanted to try this but don't have enough Maple trees around , all that probably get you about 10 gallons or less of syrup or more.
Was the viscosity a personal preference or is that typical in Canada? In the US, all the real maple syrup I've gotten at the store is the same color but thinner and more watery.
When are you going to do the survival challenges

Have you tried birch syrup yet chris?? Seen a few vids on how its done. 👍
Wish we had that many sugar maples in B.C. really want to do some birch syrup but hard to find a healthy groove where I live
I had no idea that the syrup came out so thin and clear. Mind blown
It's just the sap at first...then you boil off most of the water so it's mostly sugar. It's about 2-5% sugar by volume.
Greetings from connecticut how was your maple season mine was very bad due to global warming
looks like a sugar sack build summer project,,, enjoy your videos

Could you sell it, or is it illegal? I’d buy a jar!
I could, but it would be hard to ship!
I would as well .or I can trade you some blueberry jam or homemade tomato sauce, I make it every year with my own tomatoes, onions, garlic and herbs
I’d buy some for sure!
I would buy some too! I live in New Jersey with no property, your channel makes me miss the outdoors. I grew up camping year round and loved it!
