This has to be the coolest job in the world. I'm talking the team of pilot and linemen working together like one person. The precision, the steadiness, the overall unity in a team is unmatched. Me, I could never do it. That said, I love watching these guys work. I've seen it numerous times from right under a high tower. It fascinates me as much as anything. So to all you pilots and linemen who keep the power flowing, a heartfelt thank you.
Flew helicopters in the Navy for an entire career and I don’t know if anything I did, except shooting off rockets and blowing stuff up and firing big guns is anywhere near as exciting as what you men do on a daily basis. Both linemen and pilots. When you think about it both pilots and linemen are doing a job that at the end of the day is keeping the country safe. We both have the same kind of job…a high level service job and you have to like that to do it, either one. Well God Bless and God Speed to all of you that do this necessary work and THANK YOU for your service to our country.
I’m currently an electrician in the Air Force and I still remember being in class 3 years ago and just being in awe when we were showed transmission lineman at work.
I was a door gunner on a helicopter gunship in Vietnam volunteered but I don't think I would do this these guys have a lot of guts and I only made 200 bucks a month
This is genuinely one of the coolest thing ever. I've wanted to be one of these pilots from when I was little and saw this happening... But I wouldn't even begin to know how to get onto this field of work lmao
for the most part this field is all about "Knowing a guy that knows a guy" thatll let you in. its very hard to get in starting from 0 or without any of the credentials needed
So cool. If i was not 60, i would do this! Am a pilot and an electrician and used to heights with nerves of steel. I get both sides of this. Almost makes me want to start a biz in this.
I'm glad there are people in the world willing and able to do this kind of work: I have to strap myself to my chair just to watch the video without falling.
I so enjoyed this!!!! What a great job!! If I was younger I would love to do it!!! I am not scared of high stuff!! I scare people with the rooftop stuff I do!!! You are amazing people!!!!! I thought I had balls of steel and I have little plastic balls compared to y’all!!!!! Respect!!!!! It’s a great thing that shows that some people still get paid for work that is hard!!!! It’s hard to find good help today and I am so very lucky to have my sons!!!!!!💯♥️🙏🐟🌊🌍🍀🛠✊❤️🌙🎃💨🚩🎯☀️♠️
I use to do Areal linesman work for years !! I got paid really good until the company I worked for shorted me $3.00 on my paycheck and wouldn't correct it. So I quit I can deal with being shorted a $1.00 but 3 dollars come on now a man a family man has to eat to.
Did you happen to get the name of the company. I am a lineman . I also do a extremely lot of helicopter work and didn't hear about it . I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks
Would working as a commercial electrician be good experience prior to trying to do this kind of work? I’m just now looking to get into a trade and this job looks really cool
It's a totally different trade but the electrical knowledge you learn in the electrical trade as an electrician carries over to other trades that deal with electricity. The theories of electricity still apply. Your knowledge will be a huge leg up once you decide to jump over to lineman work. Also being an electrician, you learn a ton of skills that will help you out for the rest of your life. Having electrical skills as a Journeyman electrician is a huge advantage in life. Definitely worth pursuing if you are thinking about it. Or just jump straight into lineman work, but a lot of those guys know absolutely nothing when it comes to low voltage work. The skills you learn as a lineman only apply to that field, you can't use it in any other application in your personal life. Although pay is better, electrician pay is still respectable, both are great careers.
Quality has a price, quality workers aren't cheap, and quality came from passion, and this rules translate to any job. BTW. I worked 8 years as lineman,I know what I am talking about.
Do I have what it takes? Absolutely not! I don't, and I'm proud to say so. Helicopters and people are supposed to stay away from high-voltage power lines. Right?
They start the video with "if you're asking how much money do you make you're the wrong kind of person." I bet the owner of the company makes plenty of money.
@@aluisious The thing is the industry is currently filled with guys who only care about the pay check rather than have passion for the trade. They don't go the extra mile to do quality work and end up getting others hurt or killed for their negligence.

The MD500 is one of the few helicopters that has the power to carry the massive balls of both the pilots and lineman! 😳

That looks like an exciting career! Those are some skilled tradesmen and pilots.

I would if I wasn't scared of heights lol
You don’t have to be crazy to do this…..but it helps.
What should I do to get myself into a job like this? I see the 717 number and I just moved to the York, PA area not long ago.
A heli group of three just crashed and died in Northern California last week, the heli hit the power lines, R.I.P
Did you happen to get the name of the company. I am a lineman . I also do a extremely lot of helicopter work and didn't hear about it . I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks
Sad, prayers.
The question is relivent.
Doing aerial work from a helicopter mounted platform? Looks awesome!
Stepping off of a helicopter onto a transmission structure? 😬
I’m a H500/530 powerline pilot in Australia, are you still looking for pilots?
Would working as a commercial electrician be good experience prior to trying to do this kind of work? I’m just now looking to get into a trade and this job looks really cool
Totally different then lineman...As Utilities have their own training and licensing...
