    Note; owning a race car is like buying a horse. The PURCHASE price is the cheapest part of the deal. Maintaining and replacing broken parts will duplicate the purchase price, over and over again.

    Our local tracks are trying g to make it more affordable in 3 of 5-6 classes by using the GM 602 Crate engines. Only difference in the divisions engine is Carb size. 2 or 4 barrel. But evn those limited in cfms.

      Yes one can race and be competitive but it takes a lot of elbow grease to do that, all the folks that are successful have that in common.
      A thought. Since it’s been a while how much more expensive to have Leagon or Blackwell to do you heads and recommend a cam.
      Back several years ago one of the folks I helped did that, got a local auto machine shop to do the machine work on the bottom end and had the heads reworked by one of the above. Saved a few bucks but the performance was improved. You may have done this if so my bad

    I can second this. My cavalier mini mod I paid $1000 roughly to install the roll cage. Gutting the car cost me about 2 weeks and it's a long process. The parts is where you're gonna go broke, the better the parts the more you're gonna spend like with any car. The wheels have to be exchanged too so it's about a couple hundred for Hoosier fit rims.

  • @joracer1
    @joracer1 4 роки тому +1

    You can have a lot more motor than that for 5k, also you dont need racing fuel for a basically stock motor, you only need it until you start bumping up the compression ratio in the 11 to 1 or up neighborhood. Other that that you a ok. Best thing for someone that wants to race on a budget is to run a limited schedule, like once a month or 4 times a year, that alone will save you a ton....

    • @ThreeZeroRacing
      @ThreeZeroRacing  4 роки тому

      The motor I originally started with in this video actually needed to be fixed at the machine shop so I threw that in on the price, also the class that I ran required us to run VP 110 or "track fuel' as they called so unfortunately it wasn't an option to run pump gas

    Building a car is always more expensive than what you think. Nobody truly remembers every nickel and dime they put into it. Driving around to pick up parts, nuts, bolts, rivets, welding supplies, long nights in the shop with coffee and fast food runs. Drill bits, fuel lines , buying tools you only use once for oddball jobs.
    Buying a winning car turn key cash is always cheaper in the long run.

Drivers do not seem to care about the car because there sponsor is going to pay for it. That's why I never had a sponsor, I just used my head racing. Without crashing or blowing the thing up. I made money that whey.

    I raced asphalt street stocks in PA (Now looking to get into a asphalt Modified in the WV/VA area) I raced 10 inch Slicks and we would put 4 new tires on the car every 4-5 weeks, just wondering on the dirt how often you put new tires on the car or do you buy like 6 tires at the beginning of the season and the last all season. Good luck and keep digging.

Me being one kinda so far we've put over $5,000 but almost $6,000 into and that should be just about it for it and that includes the price we bought the car $500 and the car was in shit condition four tires, springs, body, fuel cell and electric everything has been replaced or reused like the tires, fuel cell and the body which is being repainted.

    Lol. Your racing in the cheap buddy. It costs me 1400.00 every sat night just to run my sprint car and that’s if nothing goes wrong with regular expenses tires food fuel pit passes etc. In all I spend an average of $90,000.00 a season. And we’re considered a low budget team.

    Well if anybody has to ask how much a car costs. Which means they can't afford a race car and can't afford to racing in the first
    place.
