In an admission in Parliament the Finance Ministry has revealed that just the TOP 50 wilful loan defaulters in India owe banks close to 1,00,000 CORE RUPEES! - Another RTI shows that just 300 defaulters who owe banks more than 100 core each - have a cumulative loan default of 1.4 LAKH CRORE RUPPES.
Who sanctioned these loans ? How were these bad loan processed ? Why are rules only enforced when a middle class Indian or a farmer comes to ask for the loan? Why is the recovery process different for different people ? Why is the law so radically different for rich and poor (even when the rich default?)

1000 times I repented as a new officer in a bank in 1980 s, I was very harsh with a small vegetable seller to whom our bank lent rs 500 and she defaulted in repayment of one EMI of rs 25/. When I grew up in the Bank I had to shut my eyes for 100 crore defaulters also. What sort of culture practice.

You are absotuely right. Even Laxmi Mittal's brother Promod Mittal is one of them. He even doesn't pay his employees. One of our relatives suffered by joining his so called company. After offering huge salary and bringing them onboard, he stops paying them their salary.
This is perhaps why even some bank employees don't think twice about unethical behavior. I had two employees who I already had met earlier at a bank literally harassing me for investment by coming to the place I stay, saying that one of them was just short of her target for a promotion. Even after informing them I really needed the little money I had, they just did not care and continued for around an hour. Escalating this to their higher ups elicited zero response.
If bank employees who have access to sensitive personal info can resort to fraud and unethical conduct, how should you regulate them?

When banks know that a client is NPA but they still sanction additional Loans is not by chance. But Bank managers and bank higher authorities get kick back from such loans.
Chanda Kocchar of ICICI bank is a shining example of this.
They apply from different banks and the staff gets transferred or new staff being sent when the old ones gets the kickbacks, they pay for their transfers in other places yo get more kickbacks while the new ones are made to handle the situation
The masterminds know, even if the situation gets worse, the hunting will be of these new ones and the old ones will get saved.
So all the decades of job performance with the transfers since their appointments, signed docs, must be investigated to get better results
Among the new ones, also, there're ppl who're in position to pay heavy for the better appointments and placements

If you check the photos flaunted by such scoundrels with bigwigs,, you will understand the reason for banks' compulsion or overenthusiasm and anxiety to lend to them. And top officials first pressurised managers and officers to recommend their loan applications, and then issue charge sheets and file criminal cases against them. And these big fish then use lending bank's funds to fight legal battles against those very banks.

This is so true. I once went to take out a student loan and the lady gave me a giant lecture on how they had to forgive another students student loan because he was shot and got killed. Bottom line - how dare you take student loans from us and how dare someone gets shot and killed.

I generally don't like or follow your videos, but this video was great. I really urge more videos on lesser known defaulters you have mentioned in this video - Concast etc. You really shed light on a big problem with the current banking system.

I am a retd Bank Manager and what he says is to a large extent correct. The Nationalised banks gave first preference to foreign excnage and big companies and gave least preference to its Agricultural branches in computerization. I have lot of experience in financing these simple farmers and small shop keepers on whom we put pressure to recover but unfortunaletly it is difficult to see the big borrowers because they will not be available in their officeses and we have to deal with their employees. big corporates don't come to the bank but bankers go to them to finance.
2 factors to be added to the bank default formula. Political support and Electoral Bonds(un disclosed Money). Easy loan and No action on defaulters.
Banking system has become major exploiter in the present days. The zero balance accounts, higher rate of interest on savings accounts have vanished to thin air. Now they ask a simpleton to keep 2000-5000Rs. as minimum balance which is highly unreasonable. Majority of the household run on these 5k per month. And, the credit score is the most useless thing in India. I personally have 800+ credit score and still have struggled to get a decent amount of loan. Systematic planning to keep the poor below the line, push the middle class even below making the rich even richer.
Thats the while reason behind the growing wealth of millionaires and the rising no. Of it in the top 500/1k richest list.
It shows how many people were rich from inheritance, hard work, scammers.

Watching the first few minutes, reminded me of a person near my village. Just to get a loan of 50 thousand for a small business what that person went through. "Sharmaji" an educated middle-class man, could still go to the xerox shop to get copies of the required documents. Compared to this think of that situation. Akash sir, kindly see if it is possible to add a part-2 on the video to cover people for whom getting access to the banking system is even more challenging.

They won’t … bcoz then unke hee narratives problems me aa jate hai. Eg: Malaya, Nirav modi etc etc scams started somewhere around 2010 - 2012. Mehul Chokshi had come to an ex employer of mine (a big finance company) in 2011 for a 50 crore loan (which means during congress time) also Check who was on board of directors in Kingfishers, u will be surprised. These r just 2 examples. Such big loans take time to accumulate. Normally over decade. It is after RBI started collecting data of loans above 5crore called as Special Mention Accounts since 2014 that these things started to come out and these ppl ran away + greed on the part of the banks.
These broadcast rights will censor anything every now and then at their wish. Moreover they'll charge the license fees as per their wish, the money which can be used in creating the content instead of fake sets and glittering lifestyle which doesnt mean concrete, when we know economics and maths, also it doesnt seem logical, to spend on fake things while the real expenditure should be on nutritious meals, clean drinking water, sanitation, education, medicines and treatments and other necessary things instead of fairness creams to look beautiful when we know there are countries with many b'ful people but do they really have good life, if it was then they dont need validation from other parts of the world🤔
So why to play by their rules.

People deposit money in banks for their future growth and due to these scams banks are unable to pay good interest on deposits to these depositors. I felt very bad . When sbi manager refused to give me education loan because my father's cebil score was not enough. My father has 23 lakhs home loan and due to covid we were not able to pay installments on time . My mother and I requested our bank branch manager. He angrily said " do you know from where this money comes from ? People save their hard earned money in our bank . And people like your father don't pay installments on time making inconvenience for us " I still remember my mom's face , she was very disappointed and sad .
This same bank ate 6k rupees in name of processing of home loan application and the whole excercise ended in a waste.

Many loans become NPA because it is difficult to close down companies when they are no longer competitive. Employees continued to be paid as they cannot be fired. Amend industrial disputes act, and the loan defaults will decrease. Not all loan defaults are scams
What about those who haven't left the country? You should do a story on other major defaulters where there are question marks on their accounting practices.

Several times I have read in newspapers that farmers commit suicide just for 1-2+ lakhs loan meanwhile all this bank looters are looting thousands of crores to banks,but banks do nothing to this bank looters, this is harsh reality of India's banks

Quite informative. Let me add that, it is not only the customers of bank who pays by way of other charges for the stated defaults. Time and again, government infuses funds in nationalized banks, i.e. Capital Infusion.

Me bhi victim hu. Mene student loan ke liye apply kiya tha 2 lac rupee ka but private banks ne itna loan dene se mana kar diya yeh kehkar ki ye yojna band ho gayi hai. PSU bank ne bhi approve reject kar diya last moment me jiske chakkar me MBA karne se reh gaya 😭

My friend went for a mortgage loan with all the property papers and the banker asks him "how should I believe that these documents are original and yours"? Without even checking the documents.

4 yrs ago i was wandering from bank to bank to get education loan. Coz govt had scheme that any student can get loan without paying interest. My graduation started 2 yrs late due to insufficient money. I wonder how politely they talk while selling insurance, credit cards, FD's !
