Hoad Seixas 1953

Great contest between 2 champs in davis cup. Unsure why I didn't upload this years before (I also have Sedgman Schroedder 1951 & Sedgman Seixas 1951, but I'm pretty sure someone already uploaded all of the '51 davis cup highlights, and Hoad/ Gonzales/ Rosewall/ Laver are my fav's anyways)

What stood out to me from watching this match was the strength of Hoad's backhand. He hit the shot with top spin and was able to hit acute angles which made his return of service very effective. He was only eighteen years old in this video and was obviously very physically strong. Hoad was a marvellous player and was only twenty two when he turned professional and could no longer play in amateur events. In todays world he would have won lots of grand slam tournaments.
