    I had a pacemaker fitted a few days ago after being taken to hospital as an emergency. Due to a nurse error I was given food when I should have been nil by mouth. Consequently I couldn’t have sedation. Even though I was given enough local anaesthetic for a bull, everything was extremely painful. I’ve never had pain like it. I only mention this so that viewers ensure they can have sedation. Believe me, it’s vital. ❤️

      If it helps I'm 23, and have lived with a pacemaker since 14 I just had another one implanted last week. The surgery is very simple and recovery is as well.. my old device had to be removed so a bit of pain from that due to it being underneath my pectoral muscle, but nonetheless it's a very easy recovery. Best of luck!

    I had one fitted two days ago - it sucked because of my tolerance to anaesthesia and the sciatica flare-up in my thighs, but for most people I doubt they would have a real problem with it
    I was quite surprised at the size of the device too - I thought it would be about the size of a watch but it was closer to the size of a digestive biscuit (cookie)!! Feeling sore from the wound but haven’t required any painkillers since

    That's a bit weirrd. I had one fitted at the hospital near Newport, the Grange. It was agony and I felt every slice of the scalpel and every lead being pushed into every vein. Clearly, the local anaesthetic had not worked. I shouted out 'No! Stop! Something's wrong!' but they carried on. When I was shaking with pain and fear, the surgeon shouted 'Please! You must stay still'
    I'm pretty sure it's not like that for everyone. I was expecting something which felt like dental work and I got the worst phyisical experience of my life. Not only that, they ignored the complaint I sent in a month ago. So by all means go for it. But I'd advise you to ask what happens if the local doesn't work, and to stay away from that bunch of butchers near Newport in Gwent. Seriously, I still have nightmares.

      Just like my own replacement after only 5 weeks. It was hideously painful with great tugging and pulling, not at all like the first one, which sadly moved and resulted in a new pacemaker as well as lead. I don't know I how I could ever go back if it was necessary, I was terrified and likely to be sore for quitr a while.

      Had a ICD fitted in Feb 2024 ,(today) and I have to be honest the first 30 seconds where the surgeon was ramming and squeezing it in the 2.5 inch opening was some of the worse pain I’ve ever felt.After that it was just a irritating pulling and tugging sensation.Overall not to bad ,but damn that initial part was agony.

      @@cryptolife77 I’ve had a s-icd for over two years now and this is exactly what was happening to me within the first 12-18 months. I’m talking with my cardiologist in 2 weeks to discuss how I want mine taken out and NEVER put back in. I wish you the very best but all I can say is that the pain just gets worse and worse as the days goes. It’s made my quality of life so much more worse than it ever was before it was inside of me. We’re all just science projects… they don’t care at all about you or I or anyone else. It’s a downright evil agenda to try and merge us with machines to create a transhuman… Cyborg if you will. Wish I did research before having it put in. Good luck✨

    I have a slow heart rate and have had a pacemaker for 2 years now. The doctor set my heart rate at 50-130. Can we exercise and play football? And is there a chance that the lead wire will come off or not? And when we exercise beyond the prescribed pulse at 130, will it have any effect on the machine or ourselves?
    thank you.

    Can a pacemaker be fitted on the right hand side of the chest?

    • @FeFeG87
      @FeFeG87 2 роки тому

      Yes. It can be implanted on either side. Usually placed on the patient's nondominant side but it honestly depends. Being in the medical field- I've more so seen them being placed on the upper right side, above the SA node.

    • @2wenty7
      @2wenty7 2 роки тому

      Don’t get it!!!!!!! I have one. It’s the worse thing you can do. My dominant side is my left and they shoved mine next to me heart, directly under my left armpit. It’s the worse thing that has ever happened to me. Please don’t get it installed and do some serious research on the whole agenda. I wish you the very best✨

      Pneumothorax is a known potential complication of pacemaker insertions. This is an excellent video. Doesn't cover any potential complications which they expect your cardiologist or RN to cover, it's just the procedure. Looking for videos that are clear and simple for my family. My mom is having a pacemaker put in tomorrow at age 96. And yes perfectly safe to perform at this age. Can improve cardiac function and decrease symptoms of congestive heart failure.
