    I dont even hunt until october. Lot of ag fields about a mile from my land that holds the deer until they take out the crops, plus the neighbor puts on a lot of pressure early. Spooks them onto my place. I learned from watching your videos to be patient. Bucks seem to show up a week or 2 before the rut starts. A few does are already here. The public land is only a few miles away. I really need to take your advice and check it out. Thank you guys for another great post!

    Good morning
    This Saturday bow hunting in Vermont. Here we can only take one buck for all the deer seasons. My family shoot does and if a buck comes past us we are very selective on what we harvest. We see deer all the time on the farm mostly we see young bucks spikes up to 4-5 or 6 pt. People around us shoot what ever is legal. It’s hard to let ducks get old. Most times we let them walk. We follow your advice. You talks are great.

    Jeff, I put in a remote water hole last March per your video instructions. Put a camera on it early July and had one momma doe and her fawn using it. Then two weeks ago, like a switch, several new deer using including several decent bucks. So cool to see the shift happening and watching the deer come to an attraction i installed. Thanks so much for all your knowledge and willingness to share.

    Looking forward to Texas opening season bow only on Oct 1st till Nov 4th got a 14 point non-typical 3yr and massive 5yr old 10 point with possible 11 point kicker to come back through this season. They home for fall an winter on the 30 acres behind my property I get to hunt.

    The shift is on. Starting to see some young bucks and picked up a few more does. Jeff how much will agricultural crop rotation affect deer movement? I had all corn around me last year and now it is all beans.

    • @tfrost33elkhunter
      @tfrost33elkhunter 2 роки тому +1

      Exactly the same for me…. I noticed a lot less activity this summer and fall so far. I assumed it was because I am surrounded by beans and not corn this year. With that said they are starting to filter in now. Beans and some corn are starting to come out. Farmers around here just started harvesting.

    The farm I hunt was amazing. The Amish neighbors have a bunch of boys growing up fast. Long story short, they don't care about antlers. Our doe pop is getting slaughtered. Last year I saw and shot 2 rack bucks, never seen a single doe. We've moved our food plot farther from them. Hoping some does will survive. Only seeing 2 does and 3 fawns on cam this year. It's enough to bring some bucks in. Protect your does.

    Jeff your quite the deer farmer! I agree with your strategy on weather fronts and hunting food and bedding but pull it together and start showing how great you are on public! I know you do hunt public. But I wasn’t impressed with your ordeal with the THP challenge in Pennsylvania which you’ve stated you have so much experience in Pennsylvania! You do great with setting up on private. Wished you could focus more on the common man like Dan infalt or THP have a great season!

    Hey Jeff, just a quick question. I have a small pasture out behind my barn that the deer are in pretty much everyday. It's mostly red clover, Vetch, orchard grass and this year the aster has seemed to be prolific. I'm in canada so our first frost could be any time now I was just wondering if the deer would still munch on that after it's been frost killed. I have other stands around just wondering if I should leave that small pasture area this year to keep them around (as last year I I it for hay for my animals before deer season) its 3-4 feet tall right now and provides some okay cover I suppose. Just curious. I live in the big woods and there's not much in the way of lush green open growth aside from my place and my neighbour down the roads large hay fields. But the small pasture is tucked away in a corner behind the old barn and the deer travel around the barn daily from the swamp across the road into the hills behind my house

    Not a big believer in spooking a buck and expecting him to leave the are or won't be back in 2-3 weeks. If you have a hot spot for bucks they aren't going anywhere. Maybe they go dark for a week but they don't leave the area.

    Hey I got a question and would really help me. We have a side yard that’s about 1 to 1 half acre right next to my house and it’s in between my house and my neighbors house. that’s a day care but there not outside that much closer to the hunting season and there’s a road in front of it, and there’s 2 fields and a woods behind both our houses where the deer are and we were thinking about surrounding the whole thing in a good amount of corn to where they will feel safe and we were gonna have a good size food plot in the middle and a water source in there and maybe some tall grass for bedding but not sure on that yet. Do you think they would come that close to houses and a road if they have a good amount of cover and feel safe and they will have a consistent food source. I would really appreciate it if someone could give there opinion if this would work. Thanks

    Jeff, will brassica and rye come out of a long stretch of drought after it’s germinated and grown a couple inches? I planted three weeks ago right before a rain and it came up great, but no rain since. It all seems to be stunted. Should I overseed all of it if rain is forecasted, or will it jump back to life? I really would rather not go into the plots to spread more seed, but the plots are looking terrible. Or should I just stay off the property entirely until the rut, hoping that the plots will get some rain between now and then. Without the plots, my property is difficult to pin down deer movement.

    • @WWOofficial
      @WWOofficial 2 роки тому

      Never hurts to plant more rye, If I was you just based on your comment I would wait until just before that next rain and plant an additional 50 pounds of rye over your plot and hopefully that helps and then do the same sometime in November and you should have a great plot for the whole hunting season

    • @quantumtruthseeker210
      @quantumtruthseeker210 2 роки тому +1

      @@WWOofficial I'll need to overseed the brassica with the rye, which I hate to do, but that's half my plots and they are out of time to grow to maturity. Frost is usually in the next week and freeze about ten days after. Hoping we get some rain out of the remnants of this hurricane.

    • @WWOofficial
      @WWOofficial 2 роки тому

      @@quantumtruthseeker210 brassica is a tough one to get good growth but you can overseed with as much rye as you like, rye will grow in bad conditions, has worked for me in the past when my brassica plots didn’t get a good grow, plant before a rain and the rain will wash any scent away your worried about, you can do whatever you want on your property you just have to be smart about it, you don’t need to lay off until the rut, you just have to hunt smarter
