    So glad I continued to watch after the intro which as a novice with no equipment was not interesting. The rest was fascinating and most helpful. So if you (person watching) don’t understand photography do not go to a different video. Hang in there as you will learn a lot.

    Hello. Taking photos of matt coins is not a problem. It's the shiny coins that are difficult to photograph, because of the reflections.

    Hi I'm a full time stacker of bullion coins and the odd numismatic. I always wanted to somehow try extract the detail, in what I liked about what I stacked onto my Twitter for some time to show others the entrancing nature of good coins. This was a great point towards a solid modern foundation that I really needed. Subbed.

    Those coins are huge. They are bigger than the camera sensor - even the full frame. To shoot macro you need to be able to achieve at least 1:1 magnification - which means real life size compared to the sensor. With coins like this - edges will be out of the frame when shooting true macro... Otherwise it's simply close up, regardless of the equipment you use... Still a really cool video, subscribed :) Cute wooden table & really nice creative use of the ipad I will give that a try thanks :) hah and just noticed you are using 2 other coins to lift the ipad 👍I like the photo board too

    • @Adaptalux

      True enough, not strictly macro, but the principles are the same and I wanted to use some cool coins rather than the regular currency I have lying around. Welcome to the channel!

    Thank you for the instruction. What inexpensive camera and lens would you recommend for coin photography? Thanks

    • @Adaptalux
      @Adaptalux  5 років тому

      For this shoot we're using an old school Tamron 90mm SP lens. You can pick them up for under £100 on ebay and they are really great lenses. You can get an adaptor to fit any camera, we're using a D5600 that comes in at just under £500 though any DSLR would do fine for work like this. I recommend starting small and working up the scale of cameras and lenses as you need more functionality. Second hand equipment is usually good enough to begin your journey with if you are unsure where to start and don't have a lot to spend.

      Hi Peter,
      Glad to hear it! Your arm choices depend on what kind of subjects you are going to be shooting, as well as personal preference. I'd say a Combo Pack would be your best option. If you want to chat about your choices, have a look on the website and drop us a line on the live chat as you look around :)

      There always is one! Certainly better to find the actual material if you can, but collecting that stuff can be very time and space intensive. A stack of boards for some quick variety can be an awesome thing to have if you can't find or store lots of wood, slate etc.

    The title of this video is misleading. Very few coins can stand on edge. Great video otherwise.

    • @Adaptalux
      @Adaptalux  3 роки тому

      It's true that not all coins stand on end, hence the inclusion of the second method of shooting. You can also fix them in place on end if you really want that style. There's lots of methods of shooting coins, this was just a couple that we find pleasing.
