    One thing I really love about you all is how you always talk about God and how he helps you! Not only do you share your cf journey but also talk about God! Prayers out to you because I know what it's like to live with an illness:)))

    You should put shelf liner from the dollar tree on top of your bed side table. They have the kind that is kind of bumpy and non slip, most of the time I've seen white colored ones . I use that kind to sit my dog's bowls on our hard wood floors to keep them from sliding around.

    I am studying to be an audiologist! In case you were wondering, the test you described where the probe plays sounds and the ear responds is called an otoacoustic emssions test. It is looking at the health of the hearing cells (hair cells) in the cochlea (hearing organ) and if the responses from the hair cells are not present, or not as large as they should be, it indicated less than ideal hearing. As you mentioned, the beginnings of hearing loss will tend to appear on the emissions test before a typical hearing test. Thanks for sharing your experience. I hope and pray that the tobra doesn't cause anymore damage to your hearing.

    I'm studying to be an audiologist and it all depends on the person on how the drug effects the ear. Usually kids are more effected. At least hearing aids now a days are so great- and they just keep getting better. Good luck Mary! And the situations you talked about are totally normal for that kind of loss!

    Mary you rocked the elliptical today! Bravo! Also, tinnitus and trendelenburg are two of my favourite medical words. They're just so funny to say and you've said them both in the last two days 😆 I'm kinda excited for what tomorrow's medical word of the day will be LOL.

    Mary, I share your love for the dollar tree and I just wanted to let you know that now they have the cutest little miniature wheely recycling bins/trash cans in lots of different colors! I think they are actually meant to be pencil cups but you could use them for anything. I have it on my bedside table for throwing away all my alcohol pads and glucose test strips. 😊

    I really understand the issue with the meds vs. side affects. I really don't like how meds fix one thing but upset another. 😯 but at this point my body needs to take the meds to prevent further problems. one of the side effects of my pych med seraquel is weight gain. add that to the salt cravings of good old prednisone and I gained quite a bit, but with out the meds my lung function falls (I have severe asthma and chronic bronchitis). and without the seraquel my bipolar gets really bad. I wish I wasn't sick but i Know that God has a bigger plan. I love how positive you guys are, it helps me put things in prospective. 💜

    Mary, I have had similar hearing loss from Gentamycin...I was hospitalized for sepsis for 14 days several years ago and was on gent/vancomycin and several other antibiotics...I don't require hearing aids but definitely notice the same things with noise filtering...but those meds saved my life...so I can't complain....it's good to know what the risks/benefits are for you...

    good job Mary on the elliptical! so cute watching you two exercise, good job too Peter, what speed is your treadmill at? team work for sure, and inspiration to each to each other! I love your song when you guys "think of the same thing" , I laugh every time I here it.:-) I like Ollie's Shaggy Rug for your table and when he put his head down by your lap when you were talking Mary. I know what you mean about ringing in the ears, I've had that seems like forever, they can't figure out why and my hearing is normal. sometimes I tune it out, but other times it gets pretty annoying, something I've gotten used too. I also get light headed and dizzy at times, and all my tests are fine, they call it benign positional vertigo. oh well! again, something I'm used to - no spin rides for me ha ha Love and hugs to the 3 of you, see you tomorrow!!

    I wish my fusion company would send my heparin in the room temp pre filled syringes. For some reason they draw it up and deliver them with an ice pack and have to be stored in the fridge. Drives me crazy, lol! I have two plastic drawer things for my dressing kit/material, IV tubing, and a couple of shelves in my closet for my feeding tube supplies.

      @princessaz79 9 років тому

      Have you called them to see if they could do it the way you want? The worse possible thing is for them to say no. I had the other drug that's like heparin but starts with an f. I still have a bruise from when I use to take them. 👌🏻

    • @marieked
      @marieked 9 років тому

      I'm going to ask them, especially for when I travel. I use it for my central line so no needles that leave bruises. But I have had that every hospital admission though.

    • @marieked
      @marieked 9 років тому

      +The Frey Life can you pre-treat with benedryl? May help with the rash.

    • @MandieZangora
      @MandieZangora 9 років тому

      +The Frey Life I would see if hydrocortisone cream would help it some, I used to get rashes like that from a pain patch I used to use and I still get them really bad just like yours from tegaderm when my port is accessed and usually the cortisone cream helps it heal faster ❤️ I'd still bring it up with your doctor though and see what they have to say about it ❤️😘✨ hopefully January goes smoother for both of us! I've been having a hard time keeping my O2 above 92% without wearing my hand me down cpap (my old pulmonologist refused to get me my own without 2 more sleep studies and I had already had 4) but the hospital I was just discharged from said that I was fine even though after 4 different abx my chest X-rays indicate worsening infection and my symptoms are way worse. Hopefully I can find a pulmonologist and primary dr who will take my case soon (so far I've been dropped by 2 PCPs in 3 weeks and I've called 3 Pulmo's and no one will take me!) otherwise it's back to the hospital!

    • @marieked
      @marieked 9 років тому

      +Mandie Zangora instead of using tegaderm ask about using IV3000. I'm allergic to tegaderm now after 12 years (well 10) and use IV3000 and have no reaction to it at all.

    • @MandieZangora
      @MandieZangora 9 років тому

      +Marieke D that's what I'm using at the time being but I'm getting to be sensitive/allergic to that too. I have a feeling I'm going to be needing sorbaview in the near future but that's way harder to find in hospitals. Thank you for your reply!

    Hey Mary, I also have quite severe, persistent tinnitus. I also have mild hearing loss at the high pitches I think its interesting that our bodies try and create a sound when it can no longer hear at that pitch anymore or that certainly seems to be the case for you and I. I've had tinnitus for as long as I can remember, how long have you had it? My tinnitus often disturbs my sleep being in a silent room etc so my audiologist has given me a sound box which plays white noise and other sounds that I can listen to during the night to try and limit the sound of tinnitus. I also wear portable white noise generators prescribed by my hearing therapist they help me to concentrate and focus more and ignore the tinnitus. I don't know how distressing your tinnitus is but the sound box ("sound oasis") or white noise generators have definitely helped me to cope and they may be of use to you too?
    Well done for the elliptical! Your positive attitude is so uplifting and your videos brighten my day! Love Ranny xx

    • @thefreylife
      @thefreylife  9 років тому

      +The Frey Life.... I know how you must feel at times. Once I thought this dish at a Luau was a chopped veggie dish and it turned out to be extremely spicy hot sauce! I downed a huge bite and fast because I was so hungry. I just stopped cold. I couldn't breathe in at all. My throat was closed up. No air would come in for about 30 seconds. I was trying to caugh but couldn't and my eyes were watering. I honestly thought I was going to die right there at the luau! I grabbed Don and looked at him with the big scared eyes and he ran to get me some water. I tried to swallow but I got just a little to go down. Don was hitting me on the back. I was just so embarrassed because everyone was watching. Finally after what seemed like 10 minutes, but was probably a minute, I took a small breath. Then I drank a little water and started coughing my brains out. Gradually it got better and better and I'm alive to tell about it! No more hot sauce for me!! No thank you!! = /

    I'm just the opposite about Christmas. I am always excited and so happy Christmas is on it's way and then we put up a tree and light the house and do all that stuff. Christmas day we go and celebrate with family. Then when I get home, down comes the tree and all the decorations. I don't know why but when Christmas is finally here I in no way want to hear a Christmas carol, see decorations or talk about Christmas. I'm on to the new year ahead. I'm ready to see what will happen next! Am I a scrooge or a Grinch?? I don't know! Maybe I am. But I don't think so. :) What I want to do is go on a cruise somewhere warm, be totally thin and able to walk. In 2 days I will be having a total hip replacement so I can have fun again but I am afraid I won't come out alive. Could ya'll pray for me? January 12th, 2016 is the day, 3 nights in the hospital and then physical therapy for I don't know how long. But soon I will be better, God willing! :)

I also said that him not being able to hear out of his ear was a gift from God so he shouldn't get it fixed. Lol. But he did get it fixed.
