The Horse and rider falling around 6 mins, are actually practicing falling over. This is for movies and filming purposes, like dog actors there are also stunt horses. Don't worry neither horse or rider are hurt, the horse will neal down and slide on it's shoulders and saddle. Sometimes actors will adopt the horses after a movie, like Viggo(Aragon from LOTR) adopted Breggo.
A lot of horses do recognize children as being young! I had a rescue mare who was very defensive (if she felt threatened, she'd kick/rear/strike very quickly). However, she had the biggest heart for the young & fragile. Once my farrier's 2 y/o son wandered into her stall, and I watched in horror as he walked right under her belly to give her an armful of hay. She didn't move a muscle, just gently rested her nose on his head. She was amazing, tbh.
My sister had a penchant for bitchy mares. Somehow she always became BFFs with them. There was one we kept after she got married and moved away, and that horse literally never got over it. She'd call to anyone who looked like her, then get visibly disappointed. Eventually we found her a home with someone she really vibes with. They're very smart and very emotional animals.
Horses are prideful man. You gain a horses trust and not only will they let you neer their kids put they will also fight for you. Also don't underestimate a horses bite. While not as physically damaging, they use it as a grapple. I've seen people be grabbed by the arm or even hair and then dragged into the cage or yeeted away from it. If dropped by a horse and they go for a stomp your best bet is to either go for a room with a door or ball up. If you ball up then get ready for a beating.
Donkeys were like the Honda of horses, but were extremely reliable. And of course more affordable. So yea I was associated with the poor, but all classes had a donkey for various tasks cause it just make sense that an expensive workhorse.
donkeys are special, because kicks mean back off. if a donkey wants something dead, they bite and pull to get you under them and then stomp on your head. i also LOVE mules, they're so sweet, stronger chiller and smarter than a horse, and are more trainable and bigger than a donkey. mules also get whatever coat their horse mama had, so they can have beautiful fur. i want an appaloosa mule so bad.
I once seen a video that said donkeys are actually being used in place of traps and what not against wild canines because they are so much more effective
Oh yeah, they'll hunt canines down, even pet dogs. If you want to have dogs that don't die you have to either be very good at keeping them separate, or do something like raising them together. Also, they'll do the same with cougars, and even play with the corpses of their victims like a ragdoll.
The rider is falling on purpose, he and the horse are basically practicing falling. Horses are very smart too, I'd say in some ways they can be even smarter than dogs. Part of the reason donkeys can be so stubborn is because of how smart and independently minded they are
Fun fact: Alexander the Great was able to tame his horse and get his first ride on it by being the only one who figured out that it was afraid of its own shadow and just turned its head away from the sun.
Donkeys are very smart, and they are mean, at least to canines. They’re often used to protect other farm animals from foxes, coyotes, and other animals, and they are very effective at it
@@marmyeater I didn’t know that, but they encounter canines more often in general, but given their hatred(not literal) for things with claws and teeth, it stands to reason
Well, draft horses are the ones doing the truly heavy work. Nothing like seeing a giant Shire Horse pull lumber, it has to be the most powerful creature regarding power to body size.
I got kicked by a horse once. I was at a riding camp and it was the 2nd time we were taking the horses back to their fields, but I hadn’t meshed well with the first horse I was assigned so it was my first time going with this group. There was one mare at this stable who had issues with things being to close to her hind end who I happened to be behind. And I just forgot that fact and walked to close. Now she wasn’t kicking with the intent to hurt, it was more of three quick “get-outta-my-space” taps. The horse I was leading was quick enough to dodge which brings me to another thing. NEVER EVER coil a horse’s lead rope around your hand, because if you do and they decide to go, or are startled, or something similar you will be unable to let go and you will be dragged and most likely get very hurt. Good news is I hadn’t done that (because I had read about it happening to a character in a book actually) the extra length of my lead rope was folded up in my hand. So when my horse pulled away to dodge the lead rope unfolded when she pulled and gave her space to go but when it came to the end of the rope I didn’t let it go and she stopped pulling away since she’d been allowed to get out of the other horses space. Anyways that’s the only time I’ve been kicked by a horse. And I was fine, I just got some bruises that didn’t even hurt that much.
Also, there seems to be a huge consensus amongst vets that horses are nightmares like humans, where they can survive a lot but if you look at them funny they break all their legs at once.
Oh yeah I got kicked in the head by a horse once. In the forehead. (Definitely one of those "Get outta here!" kicks not a death one, considering I'm just fine.) It was kinda my fault since it was a horse that didn't know me and I was definitely too close (I was also a dumb teen). I just didn't realise HOW too close, until the kick had already happened. Then I just GTFO'd. TL;DR: Don't mess with horses unless you know what you're doing. And even then, be careful.

I don’t know if there’s an established history of donkeys being for poor people but donkeys are definitely the cheaper of the two by a long shot and arguably more useful. A common quality donkey is about $600 iirc, which is about as much as it costs to buy a puppy at a pet store. (Adopt, don’t shop.) I’ve heard that donkeys can even be used for herding/guarding other animals with a similar intelligence to dogs without needing to be trained because of their natural inclination to treat threats with extreme aggression.
