You know how I know something's fucked up like seriously fucked up with the amount of money that Amazon makes? I accidentally somehow ordered the $350 pair of Sony noise canceling over ear headphones. When I went to return them, there was only one option and that was for me to pay for the process instead of the usual three free ones and the one where you get a free label and pay a small fee to have the delivery company pick it up directly from you and then the one where you just handle it yourself which was the only one they were giving me. So I called them which is already arduous and tedious but I did it and instead of just getting the problem solved I asked why it happened because it seems to only happen every now and then with no specific pattern or reason or logic and there's also times when only half of the options are given and it just seems to be completely arbitrary and I said you know if I was an average user instead of someone who's aware of all the options I should be seeing, that's the only reason why I'm calling and I want to know why it keeps doing that. Which is a simple enough question but honestly they probably had no idea and she did her best to her credit to try to actually find out it felt like and she asked several different apartments and they couldn't figure it out still so they didn't know why it was happening but they were telling me I still only had the options of selecting whatever it was telling you which was the one in which they wanted me to pay $8 and print out the label myself and take it somewhere myself. I said that's not going to work because I know there's other options and I did that somehow with without freaking out like I would normally because I felt that after this lady and I told her that I know it's not her fault and I'm sorry she has to deal with the corporation that makes her handle the stress I hate and responsibilities that was something like this instead of having someone available who knows. So I politely asked her to elevate my call and she said she understood and she will personally hang on the line with me until she can directly transfer me to her boss and then like 5 minutes later thanks she tells me actually sir, my boss just reversed the charge so you can keep them and there's no need to worry about any evening at all and then she apologized and blah blah blah. Obviously I was stoked because they're a $350 pair of headphones but they got to be cranking in some serious money to just be able to do that thing all because I was trying to get 5 or 10 more minutes talking to someone who actually knew something about a genuine issue with their service use your face. And I can't really convey it here but The way they did it felt very sheepish and nervous and like synthetically overly nice like someone would do if they were trying to get someone to just go away and not ask questions like a bribe of sorts? I don't know it was fucking weird but I know they get peeled for like $5 billion a year from people scamming their returns department by sending back fake products and they've literally admitted they can't fix it or do any better. Apparently that's a more cost effective solution than individually and manually checking each return with a human understanding simply because of all the variables and then you got the sheer volume of all the returns and it was just you got goddamn wreck. So I called them which is already arduous and tedious but I did it and instead of just getting the problem solved I asked why it happened because it seems to only happen every now and then with no specific pattern or reason or logic and there's also times when only half of the options are given and it just seems to be completely arbitrary and I said you know if I was an average user instead of someone who's aware of all the options I should be seeing, that's the only reason why I'm calling and I want to know why it keeps doing that. Which is a simple enough question but honestly they probably had no idea and she did her best to her credit to try to actually find out it felt like and she asked several different apartments and they couldn't figure it out still so they didn't know why it was happening but they were telling me I still only had the options of selecting whatever it was telling you which was the one in which they wanted me to pay $8 and print out the label myself and take it somewhere myself. I said that's not going to work because I know there's other options and I did that somehow with without freaking out like I would normally because I felt that after this lady and I told her that I know it's not her fault and I'm sorry she has to deal with the corporation that makes her handle the stress I hate and responsibilities that was something like this instead of having someone available who knows. So I politely asked her to elevate my call and she said she understood and she will personally hang on the line with me until she can directly transfer me to her boss and then like 5 minutes later thanks she tells me actually sir, my boss just reversed the charge so you can keep them and there's no need to worry about any evening at all and then she apologized and blah blah blah. Obviously I was stoked because they're a $350 pair of headphones but they got to be cranking in some serious money to just be able to do that thing all because I was trying to get 5 or 10 more minutes talking to someone who actually knew something about a genuine issue with their service use your face. And I can't really convey it here but The way they did it felt very sheepish and nervous and like synthetically overly nice like someone would do if they were trying to get someone to just go away and not ask questions like a bribe of sorts? I don't know it was fucking weird but I know they get peeled for like $5 billion a year from people scamming their returns department by sending back fake products and they've literally admitted they can't fix it or do any better. Apparently that's a more cost effective solution than individually and manually checking each return with a human understanding simply because of all the variables and then you got the sheer volume of all the returns and it was just you got goddamn wreck. It's pretty nuts though if you think about it that's a lot of fucking money
