Greg if you split the potato onions before they make a big bunch you will get a good sized bulb on each of the plants. I'm growing potato onions that get the size of a golf ball if you split them at the right time.

Mr. Hoss you always make it look so easy. And them onions looks like they respect you with a big harvest. Got me thinking back when my grandma and myself would go to the garden and grab some onions then head to the chicken pen and pick the main meal for the day. Keep up the great information videos. And bringing back the good ol days.
I have sum that someone brought me…I don’t ever dig mine up and they grow year around … when I run out of my bulbing onions , I use the multiplying onions.. they look bad in the summer but they don’t die .. I live in south central TEXAS
My family has passed them down and shared them for generations in SE Texas. Always planted in the flowerbed (not direct sun) for year round green onions.
From what I understand, onions and garlic are better grown in colder weather. Overwintered onions and garlic are among the most flavor full. The slow growing over the winter packs them with flavor. They are a native plants to northern marshlands in the Chicago area.
I ordered the I'itoi and Thom onions last week. The smaller onions and tops aren't a bad thing. If they grow vigorously it will be nice to have onions and tops to chop up that will be smaller bits to sprinkle over tacos or stir fry or into potato salad. I hope they like my heavier soils as much as they seem to love your lighter soil.
I harvested a few of the Thom onions today. I chopped up a few and put them in a salad. Those things are strong!! not sweet like a vidalia at all. Good to know. I will be eating them in cooked dishes, not salads. The green tops were fine, but the white bulbs were a surprise.
Does anyone know? I seen people selling egyptian walking onion seeds. They are little black onion seeds kind of like what I get from my walla walla onions. I thought I read that egyptians produce bulbs, not seeds. Is that true? Are these people on Etsy and Amazon selling these little black seeds scamming people?

Hi Hoss, I have a question. Why r my thom onions bolting? Planted last year. So far only 4/5 r bolting. R they supposed to? Only a couple r multiplying. Mostly single, strong they look great but should they be growing seed heads?
It is a false seed head. They cannot produce seeds. They are ready to be dug. You can replant or store them to next fall. Next year fertilize them more earlier and they will bigger onions.
That’s great point. I just read about how onion seeds quickly lose or their germination rates die like 50% a year which is crazy. It’s like I got a pound of beet seeds that I’ve been using for years in a Mylar bag from everwilde. I do like to save seeds or buy in bulk to be a little prepared. I’ll have have to try out your multiplying onions. You could do a video or mention any varieties for the other zones not in the south. I think you’re selling the one type the Spanish took to New Mexico that’s a multiplying onion.
Good that you’re trying too keep those onions alive. I remember going to feed n seed store with my dad picking up few onions. And I remember them as well back 25 or 30 yrs. Ago. But I never planted any in my garden. And now it’s to late won’t have garden now. Way to much Health problems.
I saved some onion seeds this year I planted store brought onions that sprouted. Took me a weekend to seperate all the seeds, about 3000 plus seeds. Then a friend gave me a mixture of onion seeds again while weekend again to get 3000 plus seeds. I’ve planted both seeds they have been growing 😊 I’d love to try bunching onions . Great work to bring back bunching onions…
I was about to order some of the Thom onions, but the website says they're sold out. I'm hoping those you showed on the video are the "restock" ones, so I can get some. I've been trying to get my hands on some good multiplying onions.
I've been waiting for you to sell them since you first mentioned them a few years ago. I now have some of my own from the parents of a friend. They called them spring onions because that's when they harvest them. I was surprised to see scapes starting on half of them this year. They didn't do that last year. I did divide them a few weeks ago. 🤷🏻♀️

I planted evergreen several years ago and they're still going strong. Survived severe drought and 8 below zero. They produce pretty good in the Spring and the Fall.
I LOVE MY THOM MULTIPLYING ONIONS FROM YALL! They made it through the freezing temperatures just fine! They just continue to multiply from 1 onion to 2-4 onions. I pull up, keep the extras and stick one back in its spot. Have also dried some and put up for just incase seed onions. Forever spring onions! Love them❤ Edit to say I’m in zone 8a
I purchased the Thom onion from you a few years ago. I’m in Virginia 8a. I haven’t purchased a green onion since and am giving them away left and right to friends and family. I grow mine in 17 gallon galvanized containers from Home Depot. These onions are unreal. When it’s cool these have a wonderful sweetness. We use them as we would green onions. I do find that a seed head starts to form about now but I just cut them off.
My multipliers I purchased from you are doing great. Got lots of new ones from splitting them . Thanks for selling me some . I also love the 10 seed trays purchased from Hoss now in use . Keep up the good fight .

We fertilize up until we pull. Most do not fertilize them enough early on.
