Been a united fan all my life. I am glad Ronaldo left the club and I agree that he is finished, but he is absolutely bigger than Man United. This joke that we're "the biggest club in the world" that gets reiterated every day by pundits should end. It's nice for blind fanboys to hear since they're blind customers and it helps with them consuming whatever our club shits out but it's simply not the truth. Is Ronaldo bigger than Real Madrid? No way, Real Madrid is a colossal club with a gigantic and important history. United simply isn't such a club. I mean for god's sakes, Ronaldo has won more CL's than we have in our entire history, he has more Balon Dor's than all other players who have played for this club throughout its entire history combined. "No player is bigger than the club" is absolutely untrue. Some players are bigger than most clubs. Maradona, Pele, Messi, CR7 etc. These players are gigantic and have/had bigger influence in the world of football than United or majority of other clubs ever will. There is an extremely small number of clubs that are bigger than them and United isn't one of em. This isn't isolated to just football. Some athletes in general are just that big... Michael Jordan, Tyson, Mohammed Ali, Schumacher etc. They are athletes that are so gigantic they're far bigger than 100 year old brands. It's a tough pill to swallow for us United fans but it's the truth. Ronaldo will be remembered in the annals of history as one of the best players to ever play football regardless of what happens or what he does next. Meanwhile if United gets relegated for 10 or 15 years everyone will forget we even exist aside from the core dedicated fanbase and that should tell you all you need to know. We're already being regarded as a joke of a club just because we haven't been on the same level as we did under Ferguson and it has only been a decade.
